Has anyone with a Twitter account thought of asking the Mtl ME:A  devs what the load times will be for the game?

This link tells of poor Fallout 4 load times: http://wccftech.com/...ps4-pretty-bad/

The leak said they're seamless.

If that turns out to be true, I'm guessing the only loading "screen" will be the resume game one.

Jos HeN7driks @Sjosz

Today as a first day back was a tough one, but just came to a close with a decision on a direction for a mission that's made it worth it.

Jos HeN7driks @Sjosz

Sometimes it is worth it to push on something you feel strongly about in game development. Sometimes that thought can prevail.

Jos HeN7driks @Sjosz

And yes, I cannot talk about the specifics quite yet. But it was a good push, and important to me as a player AND developer.

Jos HeN7driks @Sjosz

And as always, #space.

Jos HeN7driks @Sjosz

Caveat that everything in game development is shifting all the time for all sorts of reasons and these tweets are not guaranteeing anything.

Jos HeN7driks @Sjosz

But I'm pretty good with the current way of things.

I think I remember reading somewhere about a promise or rumor concerning seamless loading, but I can't confirm.

I heard that DAI's loading times were pretty horrendous. Thankfully, having an SSD on my PC means those issues were non-existent for me  :)

Even if they were willing to answer that, with over a year of optimizations left to go, now would be a bad time to answer that.

Man, I hope they put some type of developer commentary mode in ME:A.

I apparently dislike just throwing in a basic cube for a shape so much that I will always try to make it slightly more interesting.

The level design police will one day catch up to me.

There will still be load times even if it has the illusion of being seamless.

When Shepard exited the communications hub (or whatever it was called) in ME3 he went through that stupid scanning process. That was a loading screen.

In ME1 you had elevators. Those were loading screens and they were not particularly popular.

I'm interested to see what BioWare is able to do with their first fully next-gen game.

With DA:I a question was asked if there were long load times entering one zone into another. The answer was no... seamless. Of course, while that was true, long load times occurred elsewhere.

Same for ME:A. High resolution texture files are big and will take time to load. Optimizations or no, starting the game will take time.

Nah, long loading times are only when you boot up the game/switch to a different character/reload an old save. Most loading are pretty quick.

People/"journalists" are reaaaaally overblowing Fallout 4's issues. I guess it will continue since the game is trending and they need to meet their click quota.

Load screens are slowly going away because I remember reading Rise of the Tomb Raider doesn't have any and Batman as well. I wouldn't be surprised if by late next year or 2017 that load screens disappear from a good amount of games. Also, I like how Mass Effect will be Bioware's first next-gen only game. I'm really excited. :)

Absolutely. They are no worse than the loading times of TW3 (I would actually call them better, because TW3 loading times can be at times punishing) or DA:I. I honestly have no idea what all those people are talking about. They are fairly average loading times for a game this size.

DA:I load times were horrible (in the region of a minute for some zones) until I picked up a SSD. Now they're, maybe, 5 secs at the most.

Well, I must admit I only looked at large-scale RPGs released on the same-generation hardware (I am a console-based philistine myself), and I did not take a stopwatch reading, as I was pre-occupied with the games themselves. All I can say is that the three I mentioned (i.e. Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition) all feel comparable loading-time wise, and none of their loading times seem like the sort of excessive and overlong these articles seem do describe, soooo...yeah. Subjective perception and all that :) I am sorry if I came off as confrontational in my previous post, I most certainly did not intend that :)

DAI load times are so bad I sometimes think the game has crashed

If MEA will not be mostly seamless on highend PCs with 16+GB RAM and the gamedata on SSD I'd be very disapointed to be honest.

Weaker hardware including consoles might need some hidden loading screens, but waiting a minute on front of a jpg is a no-no.

Didn't the leak just mention that the transition from space to ground would be seamless, not seemless loading full-stop?

I could see loading being mostly gone if you always start the game up inside something like a ship or a vehicle - less to load up front, then hidden load or stream everything else in. Games like GTA or The Witcher have to have a load screen because they're loading large chunks of assets.

Witcher 3 loadtimes like moving between areas weren't too bad for me, but seriously the load screens after you died feel like they took forever to get through. Another reason to stay alive in that game I guess.

I can kind'a see both sides of the coin.   My opinion?

"As we awoke from our sleep, we found that we were wearing these uniforms.  None of us could remember anything about who we even were.  Thankfully, they each had names printed on them.  Some of the uniforms said N7, some of the Asari were wearing battle armor although it said nothing of the sort.  Some of our names were Harrison Keyes, Balin Gutterson, Conrad Verner.  So we decided that we were part of some military.  But what does N7 mean?  We didn't know.  But here's our chance to forge a new meaning."

it always bugs me that people see N7 as a Shepard ONLY thing. its not! its an organization that means so much more, yes i will always think of shepard but dont disregard any protag and call him/her a shepard 2.0, its disrespectful in my opinion, shepard is- to date  the most famous n7 soldier but he/she isnt the 1st one to land such position! i think its unfair to judge a protag we know nothing about let alone that we can shape and make our own.. :/ maybe its just me, but it always bother me when people push that idea around. N7 is more than just shepard.
