I would like to see the Elcor in a serious role as well. Any alien that evolved on a planet with 5 times the gravity of every every other known species' homeworld is by default the strongest alien in the galaxy. 

 

 

Krogan battle rage has nothing on an Elcor in hand to hand combat.  B)

Meh, that's an alpha though.  Sometimes they focus on graphics first then worry about balancing game play, which it sounds as though they've done.  I'm not 100% sure, but it sounds to me like he's walking on easy street simply because of overpowered guns due to developers not really caring if the guns are overpowered.

 

Balance and numbers tuning is one of the last things that are done.

You mean like repeatable scenarios that focus on combat?

Yes.  Add a twist... generate a random set of enemies.. pirates, khet, grave diggers, treasure hunters.... or events...with a variation on terrain if possible. Add local fauna,.. mean ones.. maybe they can attack both sides.... We are exploring worlds, after all. So, the unexpected is the norm.

 

Or as a seperate, but "easy" game attachment... the equivalent of the Holo Deck.... here you have all kinds of possibilites. I'm thinking basic combat  training, training against foes as we get exposed to them. Also, as we explore and find out more about the Cluster the Holo Deck sceanrios can grow.... and banter of course.... hehe and we can blame the Holo Deck Computer for any "glitches...." humorous or otherwise (ie: "unusual" armours). On banter/dialogue, the writers, ought to come up with something along these lines..ie: wrong voices for male/female/race.

 

Just some ideas...

 

 

Edit: BTW, if a player decides to go exploring outside the Quests plots, throw in the unexpected....

One of the biggest pitfalls in level design is that you become blind to the things that are unclear or confusing. #space

 

I'm so close to my work all the time developing layouts, building & scripting things, that I stop seeing where someone can get lost. #space

 

The downside of wanting to get things just right, is that the things have to be just right. #space

 

We talk about QA finding bugs in a game, but the bugs you won't see is when you don't get lost in a level. They point out the bad. #space

 

The first draft is never the best draft, and never what is seen at the end. It is okay to not build the awesomest thing right away. #space

Not sure about specific numbers, but Jos gave an overall idea of it previously:

 

 

It is a collaborative process. Writers figure out the narrative arcs for the game, and the missions, which are basically chapters to tell those stories, are broken down and figured out by a writer, a level designer, an artist, and a cinematic designer, to ensure we hit the narrative and emotional beats we want to hit for that part in the narrative. This has been our process in one form or another for Mass Effect 2 and 3 as well.

In ME 1 Garus also mentions tracking an Elcor serial killer operating on the Citadel during his days with C-Sec.

 

An Elcor serial killer.  Doesn't sound too much like comedy relief to me.

 

In fact, I bet an Elcor killer could easily tear their victims bodies into small, unidentifiable strips and easily stash the remains somewhere discreet.  :?

Thinking this is supposed to mean something.   Maybe like A Shot or Shot A could be the name of the class right below the N program?

 

The only reason I'm saying "Shot" in both of my examples above is because it appears like something is being shot.   Please, discuss.

 

EDIT :  Or maybe A+.   If you adjust your eyes to not see the black and the blue.  Or possibly all three, A+ shot.   Hmmm. 

 

EDIT x 2 :  Yah, I'm more than willing to bet that's it.  A+ Shot.   I've heard that they give out medals/honors in the military for that kind'a thing.  So we now know that somebody in the story was an A+ Shot.
