Yes, Weekes did take the position which is cool because I like his writing.

 

Cameron Lee did tweet that the new IP is still running along on track "rest assured" he said.

 

And after 17 years at BW, I can totally understand wanting/needing to move on. So, I don;t think it was a bad move.

 

He might have gotten a better offer somewhere else. Or he was burnt out And got a good offer to work on something different.

Yes, Cameron did tweet about the new IP. However, since Lee and Laidlaw were the Dynamic Duo for the DA:I marketing pitch, I'm very skittish regarding anything both of them have to say.

 

Speaking of Twitter. There is an active executive exodus at the troubled company. From an article in bbc.co.uk:

"Twitter's head of product Kevin Weil and head of media Katie Jacobs Stanton are to leave the company in the coming weeks, as is Alex Roetter, Twitter's head of engineering. Skip Schipper, who was responsible for human resources matters, is also departing".

Oh, but I love the potential since Bio refuses to communicate with us using their own forums plus I don't use Twitter or Facebook.

Sooner, or later Twitter will go the way of MySpace. I think technically it still exists, but it might as well not. Good old Tom got his $500 million from Rupert just in time, and bounced out to drink umbrella drinks on a beach somewhere. God bless him.

Patrick Weekes, I believe, took over from David when he left the Dragon Age team to work on the new IP.  Now that David has left, my wonder is whether :

1. David made a bad move or

2. The new IP is in trouble or

3. He got a better offer elsewhere

 

Either way, top talent is vanishing from the studio. Maybe EA is taking "Direct Control of the indoctrinated staff".

or 4: He decided he needed a bigger change and wanted to do something different after 17 years.

As you say, He left the Dragon Age team two years ago to work on the new IP.  I wonder if the writing is complete for this new game.

 

I assume he just established the Universe of the new IP. Like he (and others) did with DA before writing for Origins started. That's why the new IP is so long in development and we know still nothing. Stories of the game in this Universe will be written by others. Though, BW can have problems with filling this position - we don't know.
