The exterior was pretty. The problem was all that blinding white on the interior.

Yep, that was my main issue with the ship. I liked how the Alliance made the interior just a little darker.
You say exciting, I say boring as hell. That's one reason why I could never make video games. I'm so-so at coming up with ideas, suck at following through with them. And that's where the real work is. The nitty gritty work is the kind'a work that it sounds like Jos is doing. "Performing surgery on a level." Ugh.
Kind'a makes me glad that I'm sitting on this side of the computer enjoying games.
I'm a writer (my overall career choice) who loves writing my own stories and I can understand where that difficulty comes from. You need to create interesting characters, locations, a plot, and etc. I love the feeling though of creating an idea and then executing it well, gives me a really proud feeling in the end. I can imagine some of the Bioware developers feel that as well.
I'm alright too being on this side of the computer. If I were to ever work on a video game I'd be fine with just being one of the writers.

Well, like one of the writers for BioWare said talking about games that they could mod (like say, NWN, or some such), and I apologize I'm paraphrasing here, "those games are kind'a difficult to mod. Even more difficult to put in a new piece of armor, weapon, walls, etc. They're kind'a difficult to mod, because that tells us that maybe you're ready to work at BioWare. What do you think I do, go in write a couple'a pages and then I'm out?" (I think it was Gaider, not sure though)
So, that tells me that the writers may not do some of the heavy lifting when it comes to coding, they still code some of the stuff that the people who do the heavy lifting can be concentrating on their heavy lifting.
Bleh, grammatical errors.

To confirm what some folks asked about a few months back, I am no longer working on ME:A at BioWare Montreal.
Sincerely one of the best experiences of my career-I'm incredibly grateful to have worked w/ such talented & truly wonderful human beings.
Think MEA is really gonna blow people away; couldn't be prouder to be part of it, & excited like a lil kid to play the final when it's out.
All that said, very happy to be back in Seattle, working with this scrappy little company called Bungie that some of you may have heard of.
Looking at the Garrus cosplay, I will mention that the W.A.R suit in XCOM2 has the same neck thing Garrus' armor has. Don't know if it's just a coincidence or was done because of it.

Hmm. Him, Gaider, Chris Wynn.... maybe a lot of contracts just happen to be up?

Na, Gaider got sick of AAA production and Wynn wanted to earn hard USD again.

Yeah, I think the motives seem to be really good jobs at other studios, not that there was anything bad happening at Bioware.
Reading between the lines of Kotaku's Destiny reporting it seems Bungie's entire writing team pretty much left after the game first came out in September 2014, and the only writer who was still there (he wrote The Taken King but I forgot his name) left after September 2015. So it's not surprising that they really want to attract writers at the moment, and are probably prepared to pay well for them.
I do hope we get to see the results of Chris Schlerf's stuff in MEA pretty soon though, I was interested to see how he'd approach it.
I wonder if the new ME:A is going to be the first of a set of 3 or more Mass Effect themed games....there will be a new trilogy, or is it just a single game expected for now?

Actually, from what I've read they had entire backstories for all of it and a fully fleshed out game. It took them like two years to come up with and write all this out. Then, management came in and said, "What is this?!" Management took it upon themselves to rewrite Destiny's story (using most of what was already there) and we got a shell of a story. All in a span of (I believe) 4-5 months. That's the reason the writers all left.
I can't recall where I saw it at, but it was a pretty big news org. Like Kotaku, RPS, etc.

Not contracts necessarily, but maybe gardening leave, or the possibility people may want to wait till the new year before starting a new job. In all these cases, it's likely that their jobs technically ended months ago, and we're only hearing about it now because it's expedient to do so.
Sounds like Jos fancies himself as a rocket surgeon.
Well, it's not exactly brain science, is it?
Wow, for some reason I hadn't seen the new awesome background... behind that planetary horizon of Mac Walters' head on his Twitter page. Looks like some huge-ass hangar from ME:A (it's concept art.)

I just wanna hear news that isn't people leaving.....is that too much to ask?
I hear ya, hopefully soon.

I just want to hear good news regarding Bioware period. The last few years starting around 2010-2011 have been terribad.
So who's the lead now? Jon?
I would assume they'd announce it eventually, maybe after the news of this has settled down? Or they put out a new trailer? Announce it during a period of hype?
