There's a whole editing team. Karin is the lead editor.

just for mass effect, or all bioware franchises?

I know she is the lead editor for Dragon Age, if that helps.

I feel like she did work on every game they've made sense she was hired 10 years ago... I know for sure DA and Sonic. I'm pretty sure Mass Effect. I'll find out.

According to the Dragon Age wiki, she has worked on the Dragon Age(DA2 and DAI) and Mass Effect(ME3) franchises. Which makes sense since all those were made in Bioware Edmonton, where she is the Lead Editor.

Edmonton and Montreal.

True, but in those games Montreal served in an assisting role to Edmonton. Mass Effect: Andromeda is the first Bioware game the Montreal studio is making all by themselves(well, with the Austin studio assisting them but Montreal is the head studio).

*sniff* They grow up so fast. ^_^

Actually, there's folks at each studio working on it. Edmonton, Montreal, AND Austin. But yes, I think Montreal is the head studio on the project.

...and Omega DLC is the first exclusively-Montreal-made singleplayer content just to reiterate that.

I hope we can get a speech in Andromeda where the character doesn't slide around and turn like crazy at least ^^, that'd be great

EDIT: Austin is collaborating? Eh. I'm not sure I like the sound of that. Anything they make is MMO-like, as seen by what they created for DA:I for example. The Descent felt like it played like SWTOR both in cutscene-style, dialogue-style, level-design, enemy-design, you name it.

I didn't know that about Edmonton, other than people there who were on the Mass Effect team for the Shepard Trilogy going to Montreal.

If so, it's funny that each studio's initial is an initial in Mass Effect Andromeda: MEA(Montreal, Edmonton, Austin). :P

Yeah, each studio is now the head creators of the respective franchises as far as I know.

Austin: SWTOR

Edmonton: Dragon Age, 'secret' IP

Montreal: Mass Effect

Update from Karin

@BioFanOfficial The editing team is centralized; we dogpile as a big title nears ship, but also work on multiple games/IPs at the same time.

@BioFanOfficial We also help with IP info for supporting products (novels, apps, lore books, etc) as well as general in-house editing.

I never play MMOs, but I thought that the consensus was that, being essentially a long linear dungeon crawl, The Descent was much less MMO-like than the majority of DAI's areas. Maybe it depends on the MMO you're comparing to?

Huh? IMO, The Descent was the least MMO-ish of all DAI content.

Ok, there was also Trespasser which stayed far from MMO feeling.

I'm tempted to say that SW:tOR is less MMO-like than DAI nowadays

I think it's very alarmist to be worried about Andromeda based on the critical reception to Omega. Not saying you are, but it's a sentiment that I've seen come up a lot.

Not just because it's been four years and they've had plenty of opportunities to take on board feedback from that DLC, but also because a fair chunk of the Andromeda team is made up of developers from Edmonton and Montreal who have been working on the series all along. Comparing one relatively small DLC to an entire game is a bit unfair.

We don't know anything about Andromeda yet (beyond what's been 'leaked', which mostly sounds okay), but I think it's premature to make assumptions that it'll be a certain type of game because of what happened with that DLC.

thanks for clarifying. so cameron leaving might not affect the game that much.

why would omega be a reason to worry anyway? it wasn't a bad dlc, albeit quite short. it was certainly better than from ashes.

Omega is a very good piece of DLC. It has a good length, new enemies, good characters, memorable fights and it makes Omega an even cooler place. The problem is that it has absolute no impact in the main game, nor it uses your squadmates. To is it feels 'pointless'.

I wouldn't say it is as good as Lair of the Shadow Broker and Citadel, but it's right there with Overlord.

true, it lacks impact on the main story and doesn't use squad mates. but those shortcomings are due to external limitations (e.g. lack of budget to bring in every single voice actor for a new dlc) and have nothing to do with the developers.

Omega is mid tier ME DLC, thus by default low tier ME3 DLC (as Leviathan was good, EC was nice, From Ashes was good when you forget the Day 1 DLC matter, and Citadel DLC was great).

Doesn't mean its bad content. I have a few complaints but my only personal gripe with it is the damn Aria speech animation bug. I tolerated some other animation bugs in the main game but this one was particularly disruptive to me that I have to look away when it gets there. That shouldn't happen.
