It's been a little quiet today.
Never mind today, this has been the case for the grand majority of MEA's development cycle. I still remember the days back in ME3's development which had tons of devs tweeting on a daily basis. They were much more liberal with conversation and dropping bits of info for us to obsess over ![]()
Clearly, Bioware has shifted to a much more conservative marketing strategy for MEA after what happened with ME3. Very little tweeting (besides Jos, you are awesome!), and they are now adopting a "show, then tell" approach when it comes to info. MEA is about a year away and we only have some pieces of concept art and a couple of trailers that don't reveal any of the core game plot or juicy details. I am fully convinced we'll have to wait till E3 to get some more info.
Obviously, this change of strategy is justified, given ME3's marketing campaign, where there was a lot of misinterpretation and overhyping. Even the devs were guilty of some blunders, like how Mac Walters said in an interview that the Rachni would have massive consequences in ME3, and especially in the final battle
(http://www.ew.com/ar...t-3-mac-walters) just one month before ME3 released
But it's not just the tweeting. The devs are obviously still reading the forums, but they have really branched out to other platforms to get feedback. I know Patrick Weekes said in one of BioFan's interviews that he personally checks social media, and there is a very good section on Reddit dedicated to feedback where the devs interact with fans.
Before, it was just these forums (BSN, as it was called) and the Twitter thread. Now they are more spread out, hence less of a presence here than before
. Wish we could get a bit more interaction on these forums from the devs like the old days, but alas, we wait. It will also probably improve once E3 passes and the devs are more free to talk. Maybe they'll have a panel at the Montreal Comic Con this summer, right after E3. More potential for info is always good ![]()
More Mass Effect replay over the long weekend. Desk-friend watched on-screen version of self ask a question...

The Edmonton studio is apparently off today, so maybe the Montreal one is as well? Possibly Austin too, though they haven't been talking about Andromeda much.
No news can be a double edged sword; on one hand the company doesn't run the risk of leaks, or making promises they can't keep. On the other hand, it also has the possibility of irritating fans and causing people to lose interest.
Kind of like promising a kid a candy bar at the store and telling him 'next time' over and over. Eventually the kid either gets pissed, or gives up on it.
At least E3/EA Play is pretty much a given.
I love Dave Chappelle!!
It's been a little quiet today.

THIS ONE WOULD GLADLY ACCEPT INFORMATION ON MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. OTHERWISE THERE COULD BE...CONSEQUENCES
Nice hearing it but they didn't come up with anything this interesting. I was hoping some news about andromeda or at least some kind of information about its development which could actually give us some hype but instead its all about other things
Well, it's a bit unreasonable to expect new information from a random interview with Jos. The developers aren't allowed to talk about much at all, and if any new information does come out it's going to be through a huge venue like E3 or a magazine article.
Not every piece of media has to be full of new stuff. Sometimes it's just cool to talk to a developer and find out what their average day is like.
Who gets to be up at the crack of dawn to make video games? This guy. Wait I also have 2 thumbs.
