That's a different matter. I'm not saying people should like the plot. I'm saying that based on the plot they written it makes sense the PC was human.

I was certainly not expecting something different though. Bioware likes the human-centric part on ME. I'll always be pessimistic in this regard.

I know. I just hate the whole thing. I hate the supposed plot, I hate the human-centric of it, and I hate how we're stuck being a human in a universe with such interesting aliens.

If that's true, then yes, the new PC should have a bit of experience. Though I don't recall they ever statet that Shep enlisted for the program after the events on Azuke, Torfan and Elysium. Do you recall where it was stated?

I don't. I do know that you have to be an officer that shows promise in order to be invited. It says so in the Codex for it.

I'm not sure. He can be a N7 trainee, without having yet graduating. Or our PC could have a relation with a N7, like the one in the trailer.

Neither of those work. You can't wear a N7 insignia on your armor without being a N7. If you are currently training to be one, you are a N6 and they aren't allowed to wear the insignia.

The N7 insignia on the armour might or might not be dropped since the last time they show us the PC.

I'm not saying we won't be a N7. Just that I find the fact that they haven't explicitely stated such curious.

Fair enough on the N7 admission.

As for the plot, I understand your point. I'd like to explore more the alien POV in a ME game, though I don't have the same dislike (which I can understand after 3-4 games on the same human-centric view) for that plot.

I never approached Mass Effect as someone who wants to be in an MMO or some kind of anything-goes RPG. It was always a human-centric story for me. And it assisted in the escapism a little bit more.

Approaching Skyrim, or WoW, I get it. I'm in the groove there, I expect to play different races, and I appreciate that selection. But there's a time and a place for everything, and I'm accustomed to the human-centric nature of Mass Effect. Mind you - humans are not the 'best' race. One major thing I liked about how humans were in Mass Effect 1 was that they were "new" to galactic politics, and they made a big deal about electing the very first human spectre, and the fact there were no humans on the council. And yeah, our hero was a human, but elsewhere in the universe I didn't feel like humans were particularly special.

One major appeal of Mass Effect is as sci-fi, and science fiction is typically a point of inspiration for our society to progress into space exploration. So yeah I kind of want to see a human voyage into interstellar space and be that human. It touches on that point. First Contact Wars. Encountering the Turians for the first time through the Charon relay. It's a seamless continuation of our own history - an extension of our universe and even more close to our own reality than Star Wars. So yeah, it indicates that it's growing out of our solar system, and that's why I like the human-centric stuff.

If they have, my mindset will change accordingly. I'm just operating on what we know.

I'm still hoping they do an announcement that they are adding race options, like what they did with DAI.

Eh, human rise to power was actually special. No species grew so fast. No species got an embassy (or later a Council seat) that quick. No speciea that wasn't part of the Council had rapresentatives considered to become Spectres (and one happened quite a while before ME). No species grew up to be so powerful in the military field so fast (and with the con of being on the species with a low joining rate in the army), and humans was still quite economically powerful for their situation. They even co-developed one of the most advanced starship in the galaxy, that was a part of the human fleet. Them being still 'new' in the galactic community made their accomplishment more impressive. Humans were already 'special' from the start.

I mean I'm just talking to myself, and I know I can't convince anyone else. But I want Bioware to know that this opinion exists and I just leave it here.

Yeah, they slipped some brownie points there, to make us feel a little proud (most advanced starship, rapid rise in the Citadel politics) and I would prefer that they tone down the brownie points, but from the get-go, what establishes everything is Captain Anderson's introduction in SRV-1, in the beginning of ME1.

But the other alien races had their privileges as well. The Salarians were still better in science in every other front except the starships, the quarians always beat humans in AI and computing (like yeah, humans created EDI but the quarians developed the Geth first). Turians were actually better military-wise which was why Shepard needed Turian military support in the final battle so urgently.

I understand your hope, though the plot of the game has to change a lot more then in DAI. The Inquisition's nature made the add of the races options not that difficult. I dont' see the same thing happening in MEA, to be honest. We'll see what will happen in June I guess.

All those races had centuries, if not thousands of years where they were part of the galactic community. They have a massive advantage in term of times compared to humans. For the latter to achieve so much in a short time is extraordinary, and many feared indeed how fast the humans rise to power.

And yes we can roll our eyes when the collectors are like "oh the humans are so ~~geneticall diverse lel~~" but would a skeletal terminator construct of a Salarian reaper larvae be so creepypasta? Nah.

I know. It's just frustrating since they'll never have a better opportunity than right now with how the setting is set up. But they ignored that so they can have another human-centric ego-stroking plot.  -_-

And I bet this game will be the first in a series so it will be around a decade before the possibility even arises again and by then the franchise may end so we'll never get a chance.  :crying:

They might follow DA's route and have a new PC in the second one, which can be from other species or not. But yeah, as I said, it's better to remain pessimistic on this regard. It'd avoid a bit of disappointment.

Yep. With every piece of information revealed, more and more it seems time to embrace the philosophy of "Always assume the worst. That way you are never disappointed."

The thing that I don't think most people get is how much had to be cut and how much had to be added (like the ping, or the sonar) simply because it had to be on older consoles.   I dunno, I might talking outta my ass here with the ping.  But I do know that a lotta stuff had to be cut from the game just so it could run on old consoles.

Me personally?   I think it's gonna look like SW:BF and play 10x better.  Of course, I'm a contrarian.  So it's always hope for the best, expect the worst.

I AM GARRUS!

"As far as friends and comrades go, you’re devoted and loyal. You’re willing to go against the grain for the greater good, though sometimes it ends up not being the best decision to make. You find yourself doubting your abilities, as great as they are, because you feel your friends are depending on you to help them, and it is all on you to get things done. Even so, you don’t hesitate to take initiative and do what must be done in every situation you get thrust into. Through it all, you have proven yourself, and you and your friends share the mutual admiration for each other. You will go through hell and back for them."

Now if you don't need me, i need to do some calibrations...

I love how these things get so popular on the internerds
