Yeah. We know that BioWare have historically been bad at hair, but there's no way that you can reasonably infer anything whatsoever from one blurry and near-detail-less screenshot of a man standing with most of his head in shadow.

It's my way of reminding Bio mngt to do something about it.

Characters will be designed with the severe hair restrictions imposed by the FB3 engine.

Can you prove this? I mean, that the FB3 engine restricts hair quality. Also, would you say hair was bad in the trilogy (it got a little better in ME3) because the UE3 also restricts hair quality?

i would say this is actually a hugely enormous enemy ship, just like independence day's one, but bigger.

THey said before they were working on huge creatures so this could be fun, like the citadel floating around the planet.

Because the curvature of this thing doesn't comply with a proper planet's rings one, its not alligned that way with the planet. And if its not, then what else could it be circling then?

Actually, it could be a ship in atmosphere that all of the cloud disturbances haven't moved away from yet.  The things that we are seeing as "rings" may actually be just clouds trying to get out of the way.  The frontal edge certainly doesn't look like it's rings around something, because of the flatness of it right before it enters the clouds.  The other thing that makes me wonder is the shadows, you've got light on one side, and then a perfectly cast (yet opposite) shadow on the other.  Rings wouldn't do that.  Rings would cast shadows at a different angle.

I dunno.   Give us some ideas BioWare!

Hair Styles
If the above is any indication (I see no helmet), hair will remain abysmal in Andromeda. Characters will be designed with the severe hair restrictions imposed by the FB3 engine. I shudder to look at FemShep2.

Bio, why don't you throw a curve ball and surprise all? Make us, in a pleasant manner, go oooh and aaah at the hair of our alien LI.

I am impressed by how you can draw such a conclusion from a low-res picture of one character which may or may not have chosen the simple hairdo out of a bunch of possibilities.

They can do good hair if they want to, it's up to them. DICE can neglect it for BF series as it's a) first person most of the time and b ) features mostly soldiers with buzzcuts. BW games showcase full character models all the time to, very often in close-ups so hair presentation matters much more.

Anyway, the Tempest navigation/galaxy map looks cool, assuming it is our main travel UI of course. Just hope no timed mini-games like Reaper zones in ME3 map this time. Scanning mini-games and all are cool, but the Reaper stuff got extremly annoying fast having to do guirella strikes to scan for stuff in nearly every system.

Only by inference and by what Mike Laidlaw said about clipping problems they had with DA:I, when the hair issue came up. Of course, even that answer didn't excuse the awful facial hair.

Frankly, the hair styles with the trilogy never came up with me, until DA:I. It's there, that it exploded in my face during the CC phase. Especially so, after Bio's marketing praise for the new and super improved graphical game engine.

I love how clipping was the excuse for it while everything else from mage staves going through the body to how characters held their weapons was a constant thing.

It wouldn't be the BSN without it. Either way, those pics have definitely increased my excitement.

Hey...why is the hair so important? In Andromeda, most of our time will we explore planets, and so...we wear helmets. For me,the hair is the last issue of this game, all I want,is diversity, good combat, cool skyboxes,etc...not really a very realistic hair on Ryder.

A Bioware developer saying they had issues with clipping, which is probably an universal (and generic) challenge, is a long way off from 'Frostbite 3 limits hair quality', don't you think?

There is a difference?

If the dev cannot resolve the issue using the engine, it's a limitation of the tool used.  You must have experienced that horrible CC. No?

Now about generic. look here: http://i.kinja-img.c...ne83qwunvl9.gif

I did.  He mostly talked about finance of games, how fast the industry was growing, and that guy that made the video has a mohawk.  The reason I know that is because if he turned the camera back on himself once, he turned it back on himself 10 times.

Also, he didn't keep them up for very long.   Maybe 30 seconds.

It's not the tool. There are games made with Frostbite with better hairs and beards (in term of texture quality) then DAI. So if Bioware can't figure it out to render better hairs and beards then DAI (seriously I think the stubble options, which every Bioware games are, are better in ME then DAI), then it's their fault. As for good-looking hairstyles.

You couldn't really tell as he (the guy who made the video) was off to the side.  He was in the front row (I believe) but even that didn't help.  Plus, I believe there was a light that was reflecting off of the big screen that had the images on them.  So you really couldn't tell anything.
