Confirmed: ME:Next will include logic for something besides combat and levels!

I'm guessing.... A fully functional star-lemon squeezer!

Either that or the customization logic for the games main protagonist- perry the pyjak

It is actually logic that's part of a level, but it is not a combat sequence. I suppose there's a bit of combat in there, too, but it's a much larger sequence, containing much more stuff, among which conversations.

Well, go ahead.

I already feel free to, I don't need to go ahead and feel more free. As for sharing the actual information, that's obviously not something I can do at this time. I still feel free to do so, though.  ;)

I never understood the appeal of speed runs.

Games you enjoy should be savored

From what I've seen, and also speaking for myself, those who speedrun games enjoy the games so much that they've dedicated innumerable hours into it. They've savored the heck out of them, and have obtained such a mastery over them that an effective way to bring new challenge from them are to get fastest possible completion times. It can depend on the game, but you don't develop that fastest or most efficient path through a game without having completionist'd it a least a few times over.

Yeah I've played games to the point where I try to set odd challenges for myself to try something different.  Speed just isn't one of them ;)

And that's cool, but everyone savors games in their own way. Mass Effect and other story and character focused games may not be the ideal game to subject to a speed run, (it is usually intense skill-based games that are fun to watch being played at a really high pace, especially if you've played those games yourself) but it is still a game, and it can still be completed, and someone can be faster at it. Mass Effect's speed run was fairly boring to me, but I find it fascinating to see what shortcuts people come up with that I don't think of.

Also, Dear Jos, we want to see a new screen shot of the on going Me3 MP data that was posted a while back on here.

Dear Beerfish, I cannot oblige as it is not up to me what statistics get shared. There are a lot of matches played, and a lot of Cerberus troopers got shot in the face. More than the last time.

That is a sexy armpit ...

.... did I type that?

More interestingly, how do you feel about me knowing that you typed that? I'm asking because I'm really not sure how *I* feel about knowing you said that, or knowing that you did.

... And what happens when you realize that my avatar has a look upon him like he just smelled what I typed...

I don't understand. Words and text on the internet do not have a smell. Wait. Do they?

You know the answer to this every time you or another dev drop a little bit of a hint/tease. You can "smell" the desperation in our words as we type for more! :)

I have no idea what desperation would smell like.

@Barrett

Seriously, that was one bug that creeped me out and I was hoping got patched eventually. *Le Sigh...*

Any insight into why that bug (or whatever the technical term is) never got fixed?

I was testing explicitly MP for ME3, but looks like a procedural look-at bug where Shep's head-facing target is for some reason behind him, or possibly set to null or something along those lines. I suspect bugs like that are incredibly rare or random to reproduce (perhaps 99% of the time it works fine), and if programming doesn't know the circumstances of how a thing happens, they won't have a great idea of where to start to fix it. I'm not sure how frequent that look-at bug occured, but I suspect infrequency is one of the main reasons it made it into ship. It was probably considered a fairly minor issue too, compared to other things like rare crashes or memory leaks which take heavy priority and team focus towards cert and ship.

Patching can get even more strict in deciding what things to fix. Even the smallest tweak of content change can cause a lot of physical data to be changed, which would make a patch larger and larger for every small fix, so minor issues can get the axe even sooner post-ship to keep under patch cert limits.

There are a lot of other factors too, but that's probably the brunt of it. Plus seeing youtube vids of hilarious bugs and bloopers makes me smile.

Look, it's all understandable. Some people are excited, some people want to be excited but are unsure. All valid. I follow the thread here and others to see what the general sentiment is like, both for reference to my own work and to see what people think of the information out there.

End of the day, I'm a Mass Effect fan as much as anyone here, and I can empathize with the frustration at a lack of information. That is the framing of my own excitement in this situation, because there is more information to be shared. Nobody should feel obligated to be excited about that. I'm glad we're sharing some new information at SDCC, and I hope that when the information is out most (because it can't be all) of you are too.

Now I'm going to go have a weekend. Have a good weekend, everyone.

Hey Barrett, you've changed your profile pic.
