So I've been trying to put a group together for my newest playthrough of baldurs gate 2. Ive really wanted to play a druid and the kit that I've heard is risky but very powerful is the Avenger. So I just want to know any tips or tricks to make playing an Avenger easier. What gear do you all recommend? Is there a certain method I should use while fighting?

Also, what do you think about this group? :P
Korgan(Berserker)
Keldorn(Inquisitor)
Viconia(Cleric)
Jan(Thief/Mage)
Edwin(Mage)
Bhaalspawn(Avenger)

I know that theres the chance Keldorn and Viconia can fight, but if they do then I will just switch out Keldorn for Minsc. (I've never liked Minsc so thats why I'm not starting with him).

Just wondering if you guys have any tips to help. Thanks

I cannot say much about the Avenger other than the stat penalties doesn't hurt the class as much as people might complain. Since 16 constition is as high as you need to recieve the maximum benifit. Str is not that immortant as the only melee fighting you will be doing is against webbed foes, and like timestop enemies AC is non existance while webbed. One tip, Doom + Chromatic Orb = ADHW once your lvl 12+.

Far as your party goes I would dropped Keldorn in favor of Cernd. Cernd is a Shapeshifter as such can transform into a Werewolf. This overrides any abyssmal stats he might have in his Str, Dex, and Con. Once you get Greater Werewolf form these stats jump into demi god territory. Means by lvl 13 if i recall correctly the GW form has 23 str, 21 dex, and 24 con give or take a few stats. Makes the form the single best tank in game imho. Top that off you can slap on Ironskin and inertia barrier belt to make the form practically immune to any damage outside the end game bosses. I would understand if your turned off by the +2 enchantment far as attack goes.

The Druid fights as a mish-mash of styles, the conventional wisdom is to buff then charge into melee give him a staff or scimitar/ shield (buckler only) then use a sling at range... I personally like to stay in the Fire Salamander form for its spit fire ability (trolls etc) but I normally play no-reload and have less than perfect stats so the challenge is more about staying alive. You can stay in form and still use a "Wand of the Heavens" while in form.
