Problem with autosaves

I'm having a problem where the game apparently doesn't have dedicated slots for the autosave and the "restart level" save, and just uses regular slots for those.  That means that if you save in all the slots (which I do--I cycle through them in order), the game won't autosave properly at all, and you won't be able to restart the level.  I've managed to get through most of the game by leaving 2 slots open at all times, but occasionally, those will become corrupted and I'll have to delete 2 more regular slots.  And now I'm at the end, and the game apparently can't make the post-game save at all, no matter how many slots I delete.

I used Gibbed savegame editor on this file to switch Maelon's data from "destroyed" to "kept."  I'm not an expert on modding games, but I believe this is the only change I made.  Also, the patch came out at about the same time.  I'm not able to tell which has caused this problem.  I've never had it before on any other game files.

Same problem here, and I can tell you it was definitely caused by using gibbed. I've played this game upside down and backwards, and even after the patch, all was running well. Then I used gibbed to get past the Friendly Ash/ Engineers (I love Ken and Gabby!) dialogue issue, and still all was well.
Then I changed the color of Shep's eyes... blammo! Now the game can't autosave, plus it won't manually save unless I overwrite a previous save. Somewhat lame, but I wasn't planning on playing the game after this playthru anyway, unless the Extended Cut absolutely blows my mind

Yeah, I was actually able to import that character into NG+ (so apparently it did make the end-game autosave), and everything played as normal, so it was obviously the gibbed game (even though the NG+ carried over the changed information just fine).  Won't be an issue in future as I don't intend to use gibbed again.

Thanks for the info.
