We all know that the medals awarded don't amount to much more then who got the most kill bonuses, but that they don't neccessarily say anything about who did the most to help the whole team win.

There's no special award for the guy who pulls out a rocket, clears the landing zone, and rivives two teammates to win full extration two seconds before the clock runs out. Or the guy I saw pull about 15 grabs as the lone survivor of a level 10 dowload mission. Or the guy who melee's that trooper right before he steps on your head, or even just the person who was always in the right place, doing the right thing, at the righ time to help the whole team win.

Award could be voted on voluntarily after a successful match (the same way you kick people) and you couldn't vote for yourself.

It would be cool to offer a credit bonus, but since so many teams would just take turns exploiting it, I think we'd have to settle for some street cred, and a REAL rank under your N7 that let people know you got skills where it counts the most: helping the team WIN.

Or maybe you could unlock some rank speciffic character patterns that you could earn, so you actually had something to unlock when you got another card for your maxed-out character?

Know what I mean?

Street cred would be amusing. Reputation systems are notoriously hard to implement well though, and traditionally all MMOs and multiplayer games have stayed away from it due to its inflammability.

There already are "I'm the best best" awards, this would be for who "co-op'd" the most. Thats why ya can't vote for yourself.

Thats ALWAYS going to happen with ANYTHING, but there wouldn't any point to it because you wouldn't really get anything.

It's a ridiculous idea.  And to me it just sounds like you expect to be given it and just want the feel good pat on your back.

Maybe I'm wrong and you meant it with innocent sincerity, or maybe you don't get #1 or something and feel slighted, because you feel you were more valuable etc.   Who knows.  But innocent or arrogant I still find the idea to be ridiculous.

Oh I get it, you're one of "those" people. Cute.

Anyway, I've seen countless thread of people saying how the N7 ranks and the Medals don't mean anything and wishing there was a relevant ranking system, this would be the closest you can get to awarding teamwork, and something you could see in random lobbies that might actually show if someone is going to fun to play with or not.

Yeah, you're totally wrong. And you think a medal for co-op in a co-op game is rediculous?

Honestly?  Not quite sure I am.  And no I don't think that.  I think waiting at the end and voting on some worthless medal just so some schmuk could get some stupid ego boost, is ridiculous.

I don't know about a per-mission VIP medal, but I like the general idea about being able to leave a persistent kudos to a player who was either really fun to play with (amiable in chat, maybe) or a great team player. I'd not allow for any sort of negative feedback to avoid exploitation, but a reputation score that shows how many other people thought you were a good squadmate might at least stay the hands of those who would instakick you for a slightly off build or lower level character. Also, if someone largely plays a support game, there's no ego boost from the scores at the end. Such a kudos button is just a way to acknowledge someone who put valued the team and/or the enjoyment of his fellow players over some numeric figure.

People actually pay attention to the medals they get at the end of a match? I always skip past the score screen... seriously, does it matter that much to some?

i dunno man. an individual award that gives points or whatever....in a system that gives everyone same xp and creds?

dont think it will work.

think it would promote senseless aggression and bone-headry during a match.

So you want an award for an individual to receive for who co-operated the best? You do know co-operate means at least two people working together.

I'm the same.  I hardly ever check the scores as they don't really mean much to me.
