1. Sten tells you that the Qunari make use of mages.
He also tells you that they "cut out their tongues, gouge out their eyes, and keep them in cages."
How then do the Qunari mages perform magic?
... or do they?
Maybe the Qunari "make use" of them in other ways?
2. Enchanting is done by the Tranquil.
The Tranquil have been rendered unable to perform magic, other than enchanting.
Why then is the head of the Circle of Magi, definitely not one of the Tranquil, entitled "The First Enchanter?"
3. Is "Dog" male or female?
I'm wondering ... some questions.

1 - I can't remember any mention that the Qunari use magic or mages. Do you remember what exactly Sten says about this?
2 - I assume an enchanter is not someone who creates enchantments on artifacts, but one who wields magic - enchants - himself. It's just an unprecise use of words.
3 - Commonly dog is considered male by the fanbase. I don't remember any mention about the dog's gender in-game, though.

1. I quote Sten in the second line above.
2. True, but it still seems strange to me.
3. I always considered "Dog" to be male too, until my wife pointed out "he" didn't have the right "equipment."

Oh, I know what they do to mages. But I am not aware that they "use" them for anything.KilrB wrote...

1) Qunari could make use of mages by using them to test the sharpness of their blades
2) It's a social title; he's just so dang enchanting at parties not even the Templars want to do the right of anullment.
3)Gelded dogs sit around camp getting fat; which means for most players he is.

Point taken, but I cannot see the Qunari keeping them around if they weren't of use for something.
Sten's actual words, I just checked, are:
"Our mages are controlled to do less harm than yours. They have their tongues cut out and are kept in pens."
I was incorrect about the "eye gouging" part.
Still, the Qunari seem to be too practical minded to just keep mages in pens, they must have some use for them otherwise they would kill them and be done.
