My biggest gripe was the bahavior of the allegedly professional archeologists.   Given that archeology is by most standards a very slow and careful profession they acted like ridiculous clowns.  As soon as Dr. Holloway took off his helmet under those circumstances I felt he *deserved* to die.  They acted like ten year olds in an amusement park not like they were exploring a millenia old alien ruin.

That said it was still fun in a B monster movie way and the special effects were quite good.

Well I thought the crowning moment of stupidity was when the Biologist happily reached out to a weird looking and clearly aggressive alien worm.


Or maybe it's when the geologist got lost in a cavern he had only just mapped with his own tech.

I remembered ME as I was going home after movie this morning as well. But that's not because they were riding mako. That was because it's just another example of what happens when someone tries to make story "smarter" "deeper" and "more original". All those creators-creations stuff is just buried under idiotic plot twists and undeveloped characters. 

It was good first 20-30mins, I think. Music, "oldschool" spaceship design, David. Middle was deccent, up to the moment when David did that thing with glass of champain (or what was he drinking). Rest part is just awful. Especially - the very final part.

A lot of meat, a lot of corpses, a lot of something, seasoned with talks about Faith and Main Questions to Life the Universe and Everything. Bigest problem is that technically film is still good, it has nice chars and good designs....but not the plot. So, yeah, that part is pretty much ME3-like. How to take great setting, nice chars etc and make nonsense out of it. Alien(s) were bloddy and meaty as well, but those did not pretend to be anything more than just good sci-fi horrors. I'm not sure this film can exist out of series. As a stand-alone project it is just bad. As a pre-Alien project....it is bearable.

Prometheus ripped off Mass Effect 3 designs, you say?? No sir! Prometheus drips with H.R. Giger designs, and I'd say it has a pretty unique look, but it is still in line with the first two Alien movies. If anything I'd say that Mass Effect heavily borrows its designs from other sci-fi.

I said this before ME3, I will not see a Mass Effect movie if it is about Shepard. I love ME because its my own story that I'm playing. A movie will only ruin that.

And I saw Prometheus. I felt it could've been better. A lot of question at the end. This isn't ME related though so I wont go into detail.

She says she's going off the ask why, and you're assuming she's taking one ship to kill an entire race of aliens who made this thing, and probably have ways to deal with it. Or could shoot her ship out of the sky?

you missed the whole theme that movie was trying to convay watch it again there is no hint in her character wanting revenge

Prometheus is visually nothing like the ME universe in terms of design... except for those opening flyover shots, just because they were barren hilly environments. (At that point I leaned over to my boyfriend and whispered, "Time to break out the Mako!" and then almost died when I saw the Mako's evil twin rolling out of the ship later on.)

The fact that it left questions unanswered would usually bother me, but it was so well-done that it prompted legitimate speculation instead of a night of pointing out plotholes and trying to solve them.

I wasn't overly impressed by it.  Its plot meandered alot.  It couldn't figure out if it wanted to be a horror movie, a mystery movie,  or just some boring sci-fi movie.   All the characters were pretty boring and i never got to care for any of them.   The only one i have to say that i did find at least a bit interesting was the android guy.


I think the opening really destroyed any tension or mystery for the rest of the movie.  


Its possible i'm being too hard on it because of how high my expectations were or my preconceptions for the movie.
I was hard on chronicals of riddick too, but ended up liking it after seeing again a year or two later.

P.S.  Charlize theron didn't do the pushups naked!!  -1 star

I thought that too, but this could be a completely different planet from alien.   After the proto alien finally developes its possible this alien race came back here and found it.   They were interested in bioweapons,  so after finding the alien they might have changed from the black goop,  to breeding aliens and dropping THEM on planets to coquer. 

That would lead us to alien where one of those bioweapons got loose and got into the pilot.  The pilot crashes and sends out a distress signal before he dies.

The movie leaves a lot up to the viewer. I'm planning to watch it again, but on frest viewing I saw a steely revenge. Others can say what they saw in the actress' performance.

Yeah, I was facepalming pretty hard when they all took off their helmets. You're on an alien planet, you don't know if there are any contagions or hostile lifeforms, you have no weapons, and you're taking off your freaking helmets. 

...Not that the helmets actually protected them from anything, I should note.

Judging by poundy mcmurders waking up on the wrong side of the bed reaction, having a ship full of planet killing weapons probably isn't such a bad idea when going to thier home planet to talk.

A lot of the movie is like that. I like that kind of thing, maybe some don't.
