Just wondering, for those who may know...

Are there any dialogue options for Alistair that can only be unlocked by breaking up with him?

I ask this because Leliana does have at least one such dialogue option if you break up with her, where you apologise for ending the relationship. Furthermore, the availability of that dialogue option appeared to depend on the circumstances of the breakup - or at least thats how it seemed in my game.

I just wanted to make sure I hadn't broken up with Alistair in a "wrong" way that denies me any conversation options that should follow a breakup. In my game, Alistair doesn't have many dialogue options available after breakup (just 2 in fact- one is to request templar training, the other to ask about the gray wardens).

No, I don't think you are missing anything. Other things are ruled mostly by approval rating and I think the dialogue option is there just in case you want to restart the romance at any point.

The cool thing about Alistair is that it is possible, but tricky, to break up with him without losing any approval.

But honestly, I didn't know about this. Is it possible to "restart" a romance after breaking up? Any requirements to do so? I know that it is not always possible (I messed up with Zevran without even realizing it and never got a chance to put things right again)

Only works in certain circumstances.

I know it works on Leliana and Morrigan. You can restart their romance through their personal quest (or for morrigan's case a shiny mirror to distract her with)

Hell you can restart Leliana's after her personal quest, *or* after a conversation where you talk about Marjolaine leading up to "will I be as special to you as she was?" or something like that.

That's twice you can start it up after ending it within the same quest line. Funny girl.

Alistair broke up with my Ranger once, because I RP'd her reaction to finding out he was a Royal Bastard, as opposed to the regular kind, and then when I tried to apologize, which would have probably restarted it, he was an ass to me, and I called him on it. No restart, and I went straight over to Zev and started a romance. The irony of coming out of the "tent" right in Alistair's lap was delicious indeed.

You can rekindle the relationship with Alistair by asking him about his
virginity and accepting his compliment when he calls you beautiful.
This dialogue option goes away if you've slept with him.

So technically, you can continue your relationship with "Soft" King
Alistair by keeping that dialogue option available... something like
"You were raised in a Chantry, have you never...". 

I haven't been successful trying to restart a relationship with Zevran.

and Alistair at the same. (If you tell her that you will break up with
Alistair, his status doesn't change from "Love" to "Friend"),
but he will confront you. You can tell him that you prefer Leliana,
then ask him about his virginity to restart it and they're both in love

Interestingly, I broke up with Zevran after Leliana got jealous of him too, and found I could rekindle the romance with a dialogue option about the way he was looking at me. Just a FYI.
