Let me set you up with a scenario:

A team of four decides to slaughter the Reapers on Firebase Jade, all seems eager to complete the squad challenge this weekend since there are 1 Quarian Male Engineer, 1 Cerberus Adept and 1 Vorcha Soldier as your teammates. You are playing the Quarian Male Infiltrator for this one and think that it's going to be a relaxing change of pace from you regular gold matches.

You don't really pay attention to the weapon loadouts that your teammates has because after all it's only silver. Once in the game you notice that one of them is using the Krysae and one of them is using the Reegar, so you think a 15 minute match and full extraction would be easy. You use your standard Claymore X for this one.

Wave 1 starts, everyone is scattered on different places on the map and you start to think that even though it's making it harder to predict spawn zones, these guys probably know what they're doing and you are going to do an all out Rambo for this one. 10 seconds, 1 teammate is down, 20 seconds, another teammate is down.

Wave 2 starts. 10 seconds one teammate is down, 20 seconds, another teammate is down. Before the wave ended at least one teammate bled out and died.

Wave 3 and first objective. Your Infiltrator is going to do "activate device". You cloak at the first device and starts activating, while doing so the Cerberus Adept starts doing it as well making Ravagers, Marauders and Cannibals target you. You start to get irritated and walks away from the objective so the Adept can die in peace before you finish it. At the end of the wave all 3 teammates lie dead as you kill the last enemies.

Wave 4. 1 teammate quit. 10 seconds, teammate down, 30 seconds, another teammate down. 1-2 minutes both teammates have bled out.

Wave 5. Same as wave 4.

Wave 6. Hacking objective, 10 seconds, teammate is down, 15 seconds, another teammate is down. You revive them in the circle. 20 seconds, teammate is down, 25 seconds teammate is down. You revive. The pattern continues during the whole hack. After hack is complete you just leave them there to die and finish the wave yourself.

Wave 7. 1 teammate quit. 20 seconds, teammate got instakilled.

Wave 8. 20-40 seconds, teammate got instakilled.

Wave 9. 1 teammate quit. You are now the only player left in this match and you solo wave 9.

Wave 10. You got the new pizza delivery objective and solo wave 10.

Wave 11. You get a full extraction.

Seriously? Is this what silver has become? Have I really been away that long that I don't remember how players were on silver or are they just starting to get even worse now?

This is indeed a cool story, so if anyone wants to give me a cookie then by all means give it to me!

I had Silver games where players were executed in Wave 1. And none of my silver games today have anyone below N7 180.

I suppose that there are Bronze players who thought Silver is just as easy. I've also heard before some Gold Players got too overconfident because it is Silver Game, that they simply rushed.

I got downed once or twice before too. Bad mistake I've made.

Equip an Eagle and proceed to show them how it's done. :)

While I've only an N7 rating of 175 or so, I'm usually the one soloing the Silver runs in this case. I hate Bronze for being so easy, and Gold can to overwhelming at times, so I usually play on Silver. There was one case last night where I was playing Silver against Cerberus on Firebase Glacier. The characters were a Vorcha Sentinel (Me), A Salarian Infiltrator, a Male Quarian Infiltrator, and a Drell Adept. The Salarian Infiltrator and I did all the work, destroying Atlases and the like one by one. However, the Male Quarian Infiltrator was using a level 1 Mantis with no attatchments with a Predator, never used Arc Grenades (Which are basically IMO what makes that class), and never took cover. Oh, and the character was level 20 and the guy's N7 rating was 200 or so. I can count at least 30 times we had to bail him out. Meanwhile, the Drell Adept equipped a Revenant and a Widow at the same time. On a build that counts on biotic explosions from powers. They barely used powers due to the recharge speed, and because the drell is so frail, got killed and bled out a ton. It was painful to watch, and if I had a mic I would've pointed it out to them. But yeah, definently Bronze players on Silver.

I've noticed more people not hunting down target rocket troopers in the last few days. 2 round 3 fails against geth in 1 day because everyone ran around like a fool, yet the hunters chose to lock me in the corner when I was the only one trying to get the target.<_<

I had a 45+ min match of silver today. I literally was the only player alive wave after wave and all 3 teammates raged quit and 3 new ones came in only for them to rage quit too. I have to say I couldn't believe how fast my teammates were getting downed. It was ridiculous. You'd think them watching me play while they are dead they'd take a hint to use cover instead of rambo it lol

Lucky me then to get 3 bronze players in my team.

Already did that one on gold, no reason to do it all over again on silver.

I played a silver match this morning where within 1 minute of Cerberus appearing on Dagger, two teammates were down. I spent more time rezzing than killing. At least they all were missile happy on the objective rounds. Between that and the other Vorcha soldier in the match we made full extraction.

Lot of people playing Silver this weekend that normally don't. Squad objectives and all.

Sounds almost like the match I played. Took me 28 minutes to get the extraction with all **** that took place around the map.

I'm going back to gold now, it was fun while it lasted.

I think some players who maybe could use some more time on bronze are playing on silver to help out with the challenge. Although I can hold my own on silver if I'm not lagging too badly and if there are at least two other competent players.

The last silver match I played didn't go too well though - the host quit after dying the third time, and that made me the host - problem with that is I'm in Australia, so I think the other guys were lagging as a result and died. I'm used to a bit of lag (which is why I don't see myself ever going above silver) but I think most players aren't.

They only need to do the squad challenge on silver, so basically they're not helping anyone when playing silver but themselves.

Yes. The majority of Silver players are terrible. Something to do with Bronze being too easy, Gold being too difficult but Silver being filled to the brim with... well CoD players.

True - although there's 100,000 retrieval missions that need to be completed, and someone's got to do them on silver or above. Do we rely on the elite players to do it, assuming we've done the squad challenge?

I'm normally quite competent, but i was drunk last night and could not for the life of me work out why bloodlust wasn't stacking on my Vorcha.....after extraction it dawned on me that you have to ACTIVATE IT first.

Everyone i was playing with was fine though, i don't know if people who always play gold just think everyone else is crap....

But unless it's burried in that massive thread somewhere, there isn't a specified difficulty for the allied goal. You only need to be on silver for the squad goal.

Wouldn't it be better for everyone for bronze players to complete them on bronze instead of struggling and risk failing on silver?

Of course, if you're just after the challenge, go for it!

Your story is interesting because, no matter how bad the team is, it's rare to see someone quitting after wave 3. Since the 3 did, it's possible all were lagging bad.

Also, on Jade Reaper I never stay with the group because they usually pick the worst place on the map to stay on. The LZ. Why do people think that's a good place?!

Anyway, silver is like that. Sometimes you find decent people and sometimes they're so f.. bad you wonder if they're trolling. It's fun.

The retrieval missions can be done on bronze too from what I can understand. So let gold players do it on gold, silver players on silver and bronze players on bronze.

Well, I've never had anyone complain about lag when playing with me, but I won't rule that one out. If you lag that badly you quit on wave 1 and not on wave 3, this guy had died about 8 times during the first 3 waves and also used up 2 medigels and 1 rocket.

You can pretty much stay wherever you want on Jade as long as you know what you are doing. With my regular teammates on gold we mostly go Rambo on this map to finish it faster.

Well it can get intoxicating at how much more damage you can take. I mean nearly meleeing everything is actually possible except for phantoms and banshees. I mean the joy you get when you ram a turret twice, then charge, and finish it of with a headbunt is amazing. Or as a turian sentinel, running up to a Maurader flanked by a pair of cannibals and blasting its face with a shotgun till its dead, and live long enough to kill one or both of the cannibals. Or just any rage worthy Krogan is fun.

Yeah this.

Remember that just as most of us are dropping down to silver in order to get this operation done, some people are stepping up to it.
