Are players on silver really this bad?

The majority of all random silver matches have 1-2 bad players, but turn out pretty ok, with full or partial extractions anyway.

The point is, I am not good enough to solo silver. And in all three games, I was more or less soloing the latter half of each wave.
Thing is, when it's time to solo then you should not care about reviving people. If they die constantly and you go for revives constantly, the only thing that will happen is that you all are going to die due to the time spent reviving/dying instead of killing enemies or doing objectives.
If you notice that these players are going to die no matter what, after wave 6 you should just use them as cannon fodder while you keep yourself busy with killing enemies. Learn this valuable lesson and you will be good enough to solo silver!
As I said, I like helping newer players. I was trying to keep them in the fight when I could. Believe me, I know better than to kill myself to revive someone. That doesn't help anyone. But like in that first game, I was reviving someone while other players were still up, and I never saw the Phantom until it instakilled me mid-revive. After that, everyone else went down quick.
I guess I prefer being a good teammate and trying to help when I can, rather than letting my allies serve as meatshields so that I can show off when they're dead. Perhaps that DOES make me ill-suited to soloing silver. But if so, then it's a shortcoming I can live with.
i used to think like that too, but then i just started leting them die to see if maybe they see me playing and learn something.
btw, anyone want to take a HS to gold? around 80% of silvers i'm the first in score (without going rambo, just staying with group and suporting), and like 2/3 of the times people didnt kick me from gold for being soldier it went well enough. anyway my origin is febat if anyone want

I think some players who maybe could use some more time on bronze are playing on silver to help out with the challenge.
They only need to do the squad challenge on silver, so basically they're not helping anyone when playing silver but themselves.
I think that's ambiguous. Based on the initial post it would appear to be any level, but based on the "clarification" post, operation mastiff must be completed on silver or better.

Did you try to tell them not to do so? Did you try asking them to play as a team? Did you do anything with that regards? If you didn't there is not much for you to complain about.dumdum2 wrote...
So when playing as a team, does it mean that 3 of your teammates should run to different parts of the map and die there all by themselves? As I said in earlier posts, I don't start "solo mode" until like wave 6 on silver, because that's when I know if this match is going to be played as a team or if it's every man for himself.
You mean do i mind 'not winning', no i don't mind at all. I don't even mind ending up last in the charts. What i do mind is that if some one goes off aceing in a way that makes my efforts in the game worth absolutely nothing. Ie. if i need just to sit in the corner and do nothing how enjoyable do you think the game is? I do not join into MP match to watch some one ace his way, i joined to actually play. Same reasons as it happens why i hate passionately Reegar & Krysae - i have both at X but i wont use them nor do i even join into game with some one using them any longer.dumdum2 wrote...
So you are not happy because players are to good and actually helping you guys complete the match faster and easier?
Then help the team, give instructions, talk to them, guide them... Don't just rage about it. Some might say "they must L2P" but how the h*** could they ever learn if only thing you provide form them is snide & rude opinions in the forums.dumdum2 wrote...
Because I don't always feel like doing a solo match. I said it earlier, that if I want to solo I put the settings to "private", but when I play with a team I have no intention of soloing. That's why I "rage" when I still have to do a solo match because of teammates who constantly gets killed or rage quits.

Silver is funtimes. But I dont suffer from some learning impairment which stops me from understanding that my experience =/= everyone's experience.
You are an excellent example of why so many people dont give a **** what the gold players say. Because you guys live in the clouds, without any ability to relate to people.

[*]Gold player makes assumptions about Silver players. Having had Bronze people join in has been fun to this mostly Silver player... adds variety to the games. Gold players can't seem to play/have fun with others?
It's not fun when you expect to play with a 4 man team and end up soloing it. Or do you really think that it's fun?

[*]Bad assumption on those classes - Vorcha and Phoenix are highly skill dependent. Especially if they decide to use Flamer, Smash, Reegar, etc... those quick KIAs are no surprise. QME is hardly a powerhouse either... the Arc Grenades are their best offense. And seems like too many grenadiers in that mix.
Don't make me laugh. Standing behing a wall and using smash takes skill? Health regeneration up to 140 points per second takes skill? Using Quarian Engineer takes skill?
neteng101 wrote...
[*]Krysae and Reegar are OP?! Muahahahahaha... the Reegar is very player dependent, and the Krysae hardly makes a bad player anywhere close to competent.
Again, don't make me laugh. On silver those weapons cuts through enemies like butter. A player who can't aim a sniper rifle could use the Krysae, he no longer have to aim and still does tremendous damage.

[*]Jade/Reapers - oy, was this specifically chosen? Whomever owned the lobby must have had a death wish anyway unless it was you. Reapers on Jade are quite the nightmare. Banshees can be on top of you rather quickly so unless the team can backpedal fast enough and slow them down, they'll be all over the team (and that's assuming the team stuck together).
I choosed this one, figured that one of the easiest enemies and maps would make it easier for the team. Why people keep insisting of standing next to Banshees I can never understand though.

Also, I manage to complete a Silver run with just one teammate. I was a Cerberus Adept, he a Batarian soldier. We managed to get out alive against a lot of Brutes and Banshees.
So, not all Silver players are careless

In the game I just finished (we wiped on wave 10 because the last guy (I got instakilled by banshee...) refused to use missiles against 2 banshees and a ravager), during a hack objective on Giant in that building near the LZ, because I was a Vorcha Sentinel, I was staying outside the building trying to draw the aggro and keep the enemy from flanking the other 3. So 2 of the others keep rushing out to join me... and die... -.- I wasn't dying, so it's no like they were rushing out to rez me, so it seems they just didn't understand that I was trying to keep the enemies from flanking. Which, as a character that can actually soak up damage fairly well, seemed like a logical choice.
It's nothing compared to some of the stories in this thread, but it illuminates how some players clearly don't come on here and see common strategies that people share. Plus you'd also think it common sense, if I'm not dying, and keeping the enemies away from the hack zone, it's sensible to just leave me be, not rush out and join me (and die in the process).

Silver is fun for most, not a walk in the park, not the absolute slogfest that gold can be... everyone plays at different skill levels, and most people actually have a good time. You've totally shown the world just how obnixious the good Gold players are in this game... and why most Gold players to the rest of us only understand co-op so far as in winning, but they're always wanting to outscore everyone else, ultimately, its really funny to see.
- Gold extraction weekend events, Gold players complaining about everyone else playing Gold.
- Silver extraction weekend, Gold players complain about how bad others who don't play Gold are.
- Other times, Gold players complain about how they can't find lobbies for non farming games.

Hey buddy, I don't really care if people find silver hard or not, but having 3 teammates go down on wave 1 is ridiculous even for gold. You don't suffer when you are the only one left on wave 9 because all other players rage quit after dying to often?
If they would at least have stayed in the match then maybe they wouldn't have died so often, but just maybe.

[*]Yup - that's what you don't realize. You're assuming everyone has elite skills. You have to get behind the wall and not get exposed to smash safely. Don't do that, and the phoenix goes down in a blink. Health regeneration requires stacking, don't stack, and bam, DEAD. Try to be rambo too much even with full stacks, and bad, DEAD. Quarian Engineer actually takes some grenade lobbing logic.dumdum2 wrote...

No wonder so few people actually want to play any/any/gold (that's why all you get in FBWGG). You could have tried to teach the team, but you chose instead to just solo it yourself anyway.

What's so hard to understand here? I was asking about the general quality of players doing silver these days, nothing else. As I wrote earlier I don' care if it's "bronze", "silver" or "gold" players, my question was in regard to the general quality of players on a specific difficulty.
Sure, gold can also be a walk in the park if there are at least 2-3 good players in the team, and why is that? Because of teamwork my friend, something that seems to be very rare on bronze and silver.

This. I try to keep my cool figuring that a lot of bronze or new players are going to be playing silver for the weekend. When I got mine out of the way I definately had a few "Team...seriously? SERIOUSLY?!?!" moments.

Why is it ridiculous? Do you remember the step from Bronze to Silver? If you've been playing only Bronze, the damage outputs on enemies are a huge shock. I went down the first time I jumped in Silver the first wave because it went from 'Hahaha, take my time standing in the open shooting things when I feel like it because basic enemies are armed with peashooters' to 'Huh, that dude totally killed me in a few shots?'
A huge part of it is how poorly Bronze prepares players for Silver and Gold. When people first make the change, its very jarring game experience. Multiplied tenfold for those who arent very good to start with.
The other thing is quitting. It always baffles me when everyone assumes rage quitters everywhere, when every single day, threads complaining about lag, poor service, and constant disconnects. What is it with players that when its them or their friends, its unlucky disconnects, yet if its a random who isnt doing well, it must be a rage quit?
Long story short. You're kind of an obnoxious dick. Please go back to private matches with whoever puts up with you normally. While you're there, be sure to thank them for putting up with you, they deserve it.

on bronze its easy enough, so I don't worry or care if I have to carry others at times.
On gold at least more often you get people that know what they're doing because they want the credits like everyone else.
Not talking about WGG only, but personally I prefer Cerberus, on pretty much any map. More entertaining that way.

Yes, a lot of Silver is full of bronzies just wanting to try 'harder' and get more credits, but they don't understand teamwork. It's nice to come across another player that can setup BEs for you to trigger (or vice versa) but rare, and they often don't know what you're doing. (Especially on PC, where so few people have/use mics it is just sad). However it is still all about practice, and you'll get goldies levelling low-level character in Silver, or maybe people who normally play Silver with the occasional Gold game that at least know what they're doing. Silver is very mixed-bag.

please remember that there a guys out there that only play from time to time and are not that good at it. I mean seriously? All you do in this thread is bashing of players that are not as good as you think you are. Just stop it or go to mmo forum of your choice and do your bragging there.
There is one thing you could do if you want to improve the level of the "ah they are so bad" silver and bronze players. Write forum entrys with classbuilds an play tips for specific classes!!!!!
Do something productive help them and stop attacking them!
