I think simple "thank you" is due to BioWare for frustrated people and threads like this one.

What we have here is a regular gold player frustrated about regular bronze players not being ready for silver. A regular gold player who due to misinformation believed that he is forced to play silver matches in order to achieve his goal.

In other words - gold matches also qualify towards the objective - as stated by Chris Priestly in the announcements forums two days after making the original thread... also - nice that nobody decided it was worth mentioning in the in game text for this operation.

Operation Mastiff must be completed on Silver OR BETTER.

So while people from Bronze do have to step up to Silver you guys are not forced to step down from Gold... just so you know.

I'm pretty sure the weekend is for silver+, so doing gold is a totally viable option this weekend. This was announced yesterday, so unless that changed. I'm about to get on this morning, last night was a great time in silver, the teams did well and sure there were a few more revives than usual, it didn't really hinder the fun and extractions were pretty common. Silver as general has some really good players, most use good teamwork. Sure there is some "rambo" players that exist but usually it gets taken care of by end of match. Sorry that you had a "bad game" but in all honesty making a sweeping generalization about silver players is probably the reason why not many people are giving you sympathy, and another reason why most of us "silvers" stick to silver despite the fact that we could become comfortable in gold eventually.

Yup, this weekend is a case example of the bronze players stepping up to silver for a "free" N7 weapon. By free I mean, they're in the lobby, not pulling their weight, and it's up to the silver+ players (who may or may not have DLC characters) making up the difference.

Which as it's silver is no real problem, so long as said bronze players are at least doing something of merit to the team and not being in the other players' way. I'm not shocked to learn that's easier said than done, but what I am shocked to learn is why: it seems every silver lobby I've been in has had a vantard in it, who at best is in my vorcha's way and at worst actually getting me downed.

Didn't realise could just do gold. Ah well, i'm actually kinda enjoying a bit of silver every now and again. Tis somewhat fun to take some of my lesser used characters into silver and just mess about rather than just using my better characters in gold.

Plus well, having just come out of a wave 10 wipe on gold by and large thanks to incompetent teammates (one guy whom was in the entire game ended on 11,000 points) it's nice to step it down to silver where it doesn't really matter how bad teammates are.

Not all Bronze players are like that, you must have had bad teamates. I play Bronze almost all ways, but I can handle myself in Silver, I just choose to stay in Bronze.

I'd rather play with a struggling noob who is trying, instead of a gold player so full of himself he can't see past his own ego.

Let me set you up with a scenario:

A team of four decides to slaughter the Reapers on Firebase Jade, all seems eager to complete the squad challenge this weekend since there are 1 Quarian Male Engineer, 1 Cerberus Adept and 1 Vorcha Soldier as your teammates. You are playing the Quarian Male Infiltrator for this one and think that it's going to be a relaxing change of pace from you regular gold matches.

If you normally play gold why are you playing silver. The developers clarified that the event is sucessful match w/new character on silver and up

It's funny, I'd consider myself a Bronze player, but I can carry a team on Silver and I can hold my own quite well on Gold, but I can't carry a team yet.

However, carrying so many Silver teams this weekend is annoying. Now I know what Gold players went through (but worse) in previous events.

Just because you are good at Silver does not mean other people will be. Example I cannot solo at all. I am a very team oriented player. I cannot solo bronze but at the same time I can outscore everyone on Silver often. I mainly play a difficulty based on my player level rather than because I can. I won't take a level 5 character to a silver match and I wouldn't bring a level 11 into Gold or Bronze. Again play style is important here

I can sympathise with the OP, I've already had some awful silver matches this weekend. However, "You don't really pay attention to the weapon loadouts that your teammates has because after all it's only silver"? Lol, always check the loadouts. I've seen some weird **** in all the silver matches I play. If the loadouts give me an "eerie" feeling (kind of like death grinning over your shoulder), I back out of the lobby.

Edit: No, most players on silver aren't that bad.

I notice the quality of Silver games tend to drop during weekend events, while Gold i've seemed to have way better runs (Many going deep into wave 10 at the least)

A one i played this morning where i ran around as MQE with a Reegar/Hurricane and this was the result.

Me: 70,000ish points, 1 death thanks to a grenade i happened to roll into

the other 3: 40,000 combined points, at least 5 deaths each, each executed once

Barely managed to get a full extraction

People seriously need to learn to burn missles

Although Silver is where noobs should be learning, so i don't tend to get mad.

Mad at myself for screwing up? Sure.

Mad at a N7 100 trying to get used to Silver?, nah, gotta start somewhere

Plus i helped all 3 to their commendation pack so that makes me feel good :3

Although you get the occasional actually good player doing totally stupid things... like the infiltrator that was the last one alive, and felt the need to prolong objectives forever so they could just shoot as much as they wanted down in the wave. Hardly a lack of skill there, but all he did was sit back in his favorite spot and snipe the whole game, didn't even bother with objectives/etc until he was the only one left, and even then, it had to happen at the very end of the timer.

Ohh yes, that's annoying, I totally agree with you on that one!

I know that buddy. Why did I choose to play silver? As I wrote in my opening post "think that it's going to be a relaxing change of pace from your regular gold matches". Also, I did not have any of my regular teammates online this morning so I figured I could just step in and do a 15 minute easy match on silver with 4 randoms.

I was just shocked about what I witnessed once I started playing on silver, that's all. I was so shocked about it that I decided to start a thread about it here because I couldn't believe what had just happened.

I haven't been playing silver for a long time now and wanted to know if this is what I can expect if I choose to play more silver in the future with randoms. Like I said, the general quality of players that normally hangs out in the silver lobbies these days. I asked for other experience based opinions and I got a few from you guys, not all decided to stick to the subject though which again forced this thread to become "bronze vs gold" and "noob vs elit", that is not a discussion I wish to have here.

Again, if I would have checked their weapons before the match I would have seen at least one Krysae and one Reegar, so I would have had no reason to back out of the lobby. Every weapon can do a ton of damage on silver, including the Eagle Image IPB

Well to be fair, I normally play gold matches as well but did silver today and found it harder than expected. I played about 8 matches and 2 failed, both on wave 10. I blame myself for that because I should be able to carry a team on silver at least. I put this down to over confidence on my part and overestimating the tankiness of my vorcha.

Good story!

I think you just had a bad match. I have yet to have one that bad, and I've spent upwards of 10 hours already playing this weekend.

Had something similar (without the quitting) last night. FBW, Cerberus, Silver. Seemed like two of the squadmates were trying to camp like they were playing FBW/G/G for a while. Now I can't remember what everyone was playing as, but I was a QMI. A pizza retrieval mission popped up early, my team ignored it and proceeded to just kill, so I went and did it myself (I'm not a fan of doing them on my infiltrators, because I think I would be more effective covering whoever does deliver it). Past the half way point, things start breaking down, team dying, Cerberus flanking etc (despite me area scanning every chance I can). Late game we get another pizza delivery, pick up all the way down in the camping room. Two teammates rush off and get promptly downed, turrets are now covering every door, an atlas roams with a pair of phantoms and we have some guardians thrown in the smoke fill corridor. The other teammate runs down to revive them, i"m not too far behind. He runs to the far ammo crate and gets swarmed and down. Now I get downed because cloak doesn't help much when you're the last man standing. Medigel myself, spam arc grenades, rockets, grab the package and I proceed to walk backwards to the delivery zone. Miraculously we managed a full extraction...

It was weeks before I even had more than 5 or 6 missiles. It's a lot easier to use them when you have 50, as opposed to 5.

I play silver probably 80% of the time. Some games are good, some are terrible. I'd say it's about 50/50.

Really? I burn about 5 each match and I still have 255 missiles in my arsenal Image IPB

I should really take a break from this game before I get brain damaged, feels like I'm starting to lose perspective on things when I get confused by reading that someone has like zero rockets Image IPB
