It wasn't fun for me because I felt like I didn't need to even be there.  I didn't feel like part of a team.  They were great players, with great symmetry and I guess I felt extraneous.  Image IPB

Sorry you feel that way, I've had a few players like you in my team who wanted to leave because they felt more like a burden and that they couldn't contribute to the team. You got to realize that if they want you to play with them then they don't care about your score and such, they want you there because they play for fun and wants you to be a part of that. Image IPB

Also, if you play with those players a lot you will improve yourself until you feel like you can do pretty much whatever you want on gold, you'll also get credits faster so you can get better weapons and such.

Infiltrator, please go and get that confounded device in the middle of hydra where it's completely exposed...

I thought I'd do a quick silver late at night with a cerb vanguard for the personal goal, but confounded banshee sneaks up and grabs me in wave 10. Four devices, infiltrator not going for them... :/

Waste of time, wish I'd just gone to bed instead...

Yes, you are asking a question (in between a lot of self boasting and condecending comments), and I am answering it.

It's all in the eye of the beholder. You have two choices here in life, either you do this or you do that. There is always two ways to go and two ways to interpret things.

You can either see it as self boasting or you can see it as a statement of fact. People who feel that others self boast often feel so out of jealousy and low self esteem. I don't see it as self boasting, I see it as trying to paint a picture for all of you so you can have a clear view of the things that I am writing about.

If you feel like something is condecending, then you are probably taking it the wrong way because that is not my intention. People are often prone to take things negatively, and something that I write is not directed to anyone in person, so why take it personal? You can either take it for what it is or you can choose to take it personal, the choice is always yours my friend.

That's exactly what happened to me (as a GE). So when i got killed, they didnt revive me either... i tried telling them on the mic, and that didn't get them moving -__-

I was playing a match with some pretty good teammates, all of a sudden, two of them drop. We restart the wave and get joined by two guys who sit out in the open and play who can die first with a geth prime.

Needless to say, I immediately left the lobby when we came back.

Decided to play two more matches on silver today, I was hosting and again chose Jade and Reapers.

It was pretty much the same as last time, teammates were dropping like flies. This time they were better at reviving each other and using medigels though so they did a little better. I was using my Krogan Sentinel this time so I don't want to hear any "you cloak so you survive easy while teammates die!". Still had to solo a lot so we could all get the extraction and also I was like the only one who did the objectives.

In the lobby I changed the map to Condor and again chosed Reapers. Teammates were dropping like flies once more. After a while I got tired of doing revives and being the only one racking up the kills, so I went into observer mode trying to see how they were playing. It looked much like 3 beheaded chickens running around in panic, still dropping like flies though. I did the revives and killed a couple of enemies here and there when my teammates got into trouble. During the extraction one guy used 4 rockets for some reason and after he had used them he told the team over the mic that he was now out of rockets so the rest of the team needed to use theirs. Why do people use a rocket on a lone Banshee on silver anyway?

I wanted to see if they were to step up their game if I changed the settings to gold! So I switched to Jade Reapers Gold. Teammates were dropping like flies. I decided to plug in my mic to give advice during the match but the panic was to strong that it seemed like they did the opposite of what I said most of the time, which resulted in more dropping like flies. I went for revives as often as I could (hey, what can I say, sometimes I don't want to use teammates as cannon fodder) but in the process of doing so I got instakilled by a Banshee on wave 8 (I blame myself for that one, should have just done it solo instead of going for a revive). After that teammates were dropping like flies and it was like the first time that I didn't get the extraction on Jade Reapers Gold.

It was an improvement from yesterday, but not by much. The thing I see on silver that really messes up everything is the lack of team synergy. To all the time know where enemies are and where your teammates are so that you can position yourself accordingly is key. 3 teammates running around in panic and grabbing their rocket launchers when there's a lone Banshee chasing them is fun to see but not a productive style of play. I think it all comes down to that people need to keep their head more often, and I think that it might be the difference between bronze, silver and gold. When you are good at bronze then you always feel relaxed and calm while playing, stepping up to silver you start to lose that calm and starts to panic. Players that are good on gold almost always keep their head in all situations, and I believe that keeping calm regardless of situation while benefit team synergy.

Btw, I asked over the mic later and these guys weren't "bronze players" according to themselves. So probably they were just not that experienced (= bad) silver players or really crappy gold players.

I think its just a matter of it being the promotion weekend where a lot of the usual bronze players are trying to play silver just to try get themselves that extra bonus.

I won't say I'm a great player cause I'm not, but on Silver on most days (not this promotion weekend), I am able to extract with my squad around 80% of the time. I played around 10 times last night and only had 1 successful extraction and even that was a partial extraction with some guy dieing 2 seconds before the shuttle arrives

This just points out that a lot of the players on silver this weekend normally wouldn't be playing on silver.

I've noticed that this weekend, as well. I play Silver most of the time, and usually we have no trouble finishing a round. I logged on to try for the weekly challenge, and from then on watched my entire team get massacred repeatedly. One player was downed more than ten times. Everyone died on Wave 10, before the final activate was completed. Quite possibly the second-worst team I've ever played with, excluding a particular Brogan who was no bro of mine and completely ignored downed allies and objectives.

No, actually those would be the bronze players.

Probably. I think after that one weekend op that was on gold Bioware maybe decided to tone it down a bit; they probably saw such a massive influx of gold failures that they pegged silver instead.

Yes, we're all bad. We never win, but we refuse to play bronze. We're awful players and awful human beings too. Luckily this weekend we get a chance to play with Gold caliber players, maybe I can finally afford to buy this PSP I'm saving for the whole last week.

But seriously - some are, some are not. Just like on gold or on bronze.

Wow, got my first leecher. On silver / geth. The guy was some N7 1000-ish, with salarian engineer or infiltrator, didn't bother to check. He just sat there from the very start, sometimes moving from place to place, not even trying to help. I'm below average player myself, so it was quite difficult game. I wonder, whats the point of lower-level leeching when you already have high-end equipment? Not to mention it ruins the fun for the whole team. :(

I can say that it seems that way where players seem to think they are invincible and rarely use cover. It gets pretty bad when three of your teammates drop all across the map (Jade) and running around reviving. Got the 10 revives medal by wave 3. I guess it's just overconfidence from a gold player or ambitious bronze player, either or.

Though I do have to apologize to those I played with last night with my Ex-Cerberus Adept, I was trying out a 0 Fitness build and dropped a bit. >.O

Mad at myself for screwing up? Sure.

Mad at a N7 100 trying to get used to Silver?, nah, gotta start somewhere

Plus i helped all 3 to their commendation pack so that makes me feel good :3

That was you?  Thanks,

It might have been, i don't really pay attention to names.

If i was using a red Male Quarian engineer on Hydra spamming the everloving crap out of Arc Grenades. then yeah, it was :P

And if i did help you, you're welcome, always glad to help people out :3

...You start to get irritated and walk away from the objective so the Adept can die in peace... At the end of the wave all 3 teammates lie dead as you kill the last enemies.

...you just leave them there to die and finish the wave yourself.

...You are now the only player left in this match

considering how this anecdote starts, i'm unsurprised at where it ends.

The event has turned silver into a noob fest really. Doesn't help that I decided to finish leveling a class that I'm not good at all with. The Adept. Sorry to anyone who's played with me today, you've probably revived me about 20 times per match lol.

Im trying to step up from bronze into silver. been wondering about it for a while, but finally got coerrced(sp?) on friday night by some buddies. so if i have caused rage/hair pulling or general swearing of mic, then i apologise. i seem to have my abilities down, its just the continuing to remain up right thats eluding me. expecially when the dodo hits the fan and it seems were fish in a barrel. ill endevour to rid myself of bad habits developed in bronze.

again my apologies

I think that the vitrol against Bronze players doesn't all come from simply disliking noobs. I think if a person doesn't like people in general, they will not enjoy playing mp with randoms most of the time. If you have no patience with the shortcomings of others in skill, then you will always be in a rage.
I'm happiest when I feel useful in a game, helping kill bad guys, clear objectives, and rezzing others without getting myself killed. I don't care what levels other people are, or what weapons they are using. As long as they aren't just sitting there doing NOTHING, I can cut people a lot of slack.

but to be fair, how often do you actually need to kite mobs in bronze? . its a skill im starting to pick up on, even if just to let a player catch a breath. some maps like Jade its kinda easy to lead the big guys on a merry conga line whislt pizza get's served, hacks are being carried out. but on goddess/reactor, i get snagged on all sorts whilst running backwards. keeping interest but hopefully not getting stuck in a dead end :) . but hardly ever saw this in bronze. im sure there are other tricks to learn. but please be patient with the ones that try :) thats all i ask.

Had that prob last night. My rank is in the 1300s and was playing silver helping randoms who admitted they were either new to silver or mp in general. After like the third game one had to leave and a random with over 1000 points came in. He leeched the only time only killing if a husk was on him or something. He had a lvl 19 character. After the game it lvled to 20 so he promoted then swiched to another high lvl character. The other players said we were doing fine so leave him alone. But 6 games later, he'd promoted 3 more characters from leeching. I realized he leached just to promote characters so I convinced them to kick, and we got a player that wanted to play. So it did get ok.
