Are players on silver really this bad?

These issues cleared when I just simply started hosting games.

Im trying to step up from bronze into silver. been wondering about it for a while, but finally got coerrced(sp?) on friday night by some buddies. so if i have caused rage/hair pulling or general swearing of mic, then i apologise. i seem to have my abilities down, its just the continuing to remain up right thats eluding me. expecially when the dodo hits the fan and it seems were fish in a barrel. ill endevour to rid myself of bad habits developed in bronze.
again my apologies
No need to apologize or feel bad at all. Almost every player on these boards at one point went from bronze to silver and thought "OMFG." Silver, at first, is really a shock. After a while you realize that you just need to play differently. As long as you're paying attention and learning from your mistakes (nope, can't charge a group of pyros anymore), you'll do fine, and you'll be gold-ready in no time.

I am far more annoyed at people being ****s than people doing 'badly'. Just earlier today I played with some guys on silver, where a vorcha got himself killed in the middle of enemies on the other side of the map a couple of times. The first time we did not revive him (and I was nearly there before he bled out, too), he called us morons. A couple of waves later, he bled out first and later someone else died nearby us and my other teammate managed to revive him. Then we were morons for reviving the guy who 'did no damage'.
Yeah right.
Rather the lower-scoring nice guy than the **** getting himself killed while doing big damage any day.
So just keep on playing and don't worry about it. Just have fun playing and get better little bits at the time. Most important thing to remember; stick to a buddy. It makes MP so much easier.

I practised a lot on bronze, before I went on to silver and now I'm just about ready for gold, but this load of new players want to earn credits fast or something, I think, or they underestimate the difference in difficulty.

Well, they are still free to use medigels or to stop dying, it's really a choice that they have to make when they die so much. They got to learn sometimes, and in my opinion they need to learn the hard way, if they constantly gets killed then they won't be revived!

But anyway, I'll be playing some more silvers to get some equipment packs and stock up on medigels and next week I'll be trying gold runs, just to spite the "pros"

Hey, if you want to skip past silver and become good at doing gold instead then I can add you?
We have some Spanish players as well that are really good. You'll have your first gold extraction in your first match if you join.
EDIT: That goes for Delta Vicious too.

Actually, on silver with a novaguard you CAN charge a group of pyros, two Primes and a couple of hunters all at the same time. You won't even die once. You need your cool-down at 200 of course. Spam charge and nova. You just need to back off one or two steps before novaing to avoid being staggered by the Primes.
Of course, it can get a bit boring, but at least I could make sure my squad got full extraction even if they were bronze players trying silver.
Anyway, this is silver. Of course there are some players who can't pull their own weight... yet. Especially if they have recently ascended from bronze. I was like that when I first came to silver, dying all the time. Now silver isn't too hard for me (at least with my favourite classes). And there are very decent players in silver.
For the OP, I can tell you another story, more positive. Yesterday I had a match with random players. We were lagging so bad I often found myself staring at a wall when I tried moving. I have to wonder why I stuck around.
Because of the lag and one of them constantly meleing and getting killed in the middle of mobs (Vorcha), it was a real struggle. I figured the Vorcha was most likely a Bronze player. The other two were good players. We still managed full extraction and that is when I noticed they actually had mics.
I don't think I've had players who were more expressive in their happiness for achieving this. They were Japanese, that explained the horrendous lag. Still, their obvious joy put a smile on me for the rest of the evening.

I think the "worst" sin they commit is leaving me out to dry not covering my back sometimes - I am reliable and try and be in a "spot" at the start of each round so there is consistency that someone has that zone covered - but at the same time part of my job is to rubber band to the team a bit so if they move off I need to move with 'em. I've also seen some odd loadouts - a lot of weight on adepts - but again 90% of the people have sane loadouts.

Sergeant "Dum Dum" Dugan, you needs to send them back to boot camp. Mah Silver teammates are about the same.

I've been on good teams, bad teams, and even carried a team but it doesn't take my enjoyment out of it. If we fail, we fail. Just play it again. Silver is still that grey area of difficulty where it could be either really easy, or things go south fast. But it is the difficulty where one learns when to use Medi-gel ( surrounded by foes who stomp ) when not to go out and revive ( someone surrounded by foes you have to clear out first ) how to utilize combos and bring weapons that hold the line. Those are things that are hard to learn in Bronze.
So I understand I'll probably be PUG'd with people who want more than what Bronze has to offer. I imagine the same thing happens when someone finds Silver boring and attempts Gold. But reading these forums from time to time one would get the notion Gold is some sort of exclusive group of the best gamers in the world who make threads like this because they feel they're entitled to remind everyone how much better they and how lesser players are ruining their experience.
It's a video game-- have some fun.

I'm sure the regualr bronze/silver players are eternally grateful to you for lowering yourself and doing a bit of "Slumming" at the weekend.
Yes allot of Bronze players stepped up for the weekend to help with the community challange. I for one thought it was a good thing, it mixed things up a bit and most of the people I played with appeared to enjoy it.
ME Mulitplayer was the first "MP Shooter" I have ever really played, so when I started playing it I absolutely sucked at it. I'll put it this way I had over 100 Cobra missiles before I finally worked out how to shoot one (Not a word of a lie). So as long as someone is genuinely trying, in my opinion thats all that matters, because for the majority of the demo, I did die an awful lot, I was initially a burden on my team and trust me that's not fun (This was on bronze as well, not silver). Thankfully I was helped by a allot of nice people !
I actually prefer playing Silver to Gold as I find it more fun, and strangely enough thats why I actually play the game in the first place.
I would choose to play with an unskilled person who is trying their best and enjoying themselves, over a skilled "I take this seriously", "My team mates are idiots" type of player any day of the week. It's just a game !
Silver is not Gold

Wave 3 and first objective. Your Infiltrator is going to do "activate device". You cloak at the first device and starts activating, while doing so the Cerberus Adept starts doing it as well making Ravagers, Marauders and Cannibals target you. You start to get irritated and walks away from the objective so the Adept can die in peace before you finish it. !
I would have no problem playing on the Cerberus Adepts team, I would not like to play on yours. It wouldn't surprise me if that makes no sense to you

You can either see it as self boasting or you can see it as a statement of fact. People who feel that others self boast often feel so out of jealousy and low self esteem. I don't see it as self boasting, I see it as trying to paint a picture for all of you so you can have a clear view of the things that I am writing about.
If you feel like something is condecending, then you are probably taking it the wrong way because that is not my intention. People are often prone to take things negatively, and something that I write is not directed to anyone in person, so why take it personal? You can either take it for what it is or you can choose to take it personal, the choice is always yours my friend.
Wow, just WOW !
Thank you for painting the picture for us. Nice Superman outfit BTW !

What the hell are you talking about? It's their choice that they make when they die? Now if you are talking about a character recklessly charging all over the map and dieing fine but people are not poor or lesser players because they are lazy or want to be bad, some just don't have the experience or skills and some will NEVER have the skills.
You talk about players on silver that should stick to bronze if they can't hack it. I'll say that people bleating like goats about poor silver players should stick to gold.
You will also find the odd time that the poor player who is trying hard can still save the better players asses.

Who said I was taking it seriously? I don't even take gold seriously because it's really hard to fail on gold unless you glitch or something like that. When I'm playing gold I mostly goof around with my friends.

What where you doing playing on Silver with a team? solo it pro style! You are too skilled for the people on Silver, stay to gold and wait a bit for the platinium dificulty.
You are to kind and making me blush right now

Well, you see, they could choose to stay in cover instead of standing in the open and getting killed. They could try to run away from the enemies sometimes instead of trying to take on the entire Reaper army by themselves. They could try to not place themselves on bad spots on the map.
It's a choice that they have to make, if they choose wrong they will probably die. If they choose to die very often, I would not bother reviving them, so that leaves them with the choice of using a medigel or to let me do the wave without them.
