Yeah, people do care and here are a few reasons why.
1) Roleplaying, to what I would call a majority of the casual rpging audience... humans are boring when there are aliens.
Roleplaying aliens/abhumans/nonhumans is actually considered boring in most of the RPG circles I've ran in. The simple reason being that dependent upon how well fleshed out the information on the aliens/abhumans/nonhumans is--it can actually require you to stick too much within a certain "framework" for the individual you are RPing as they have very defined motivations/organizations/reactions, etc.
This is correct.2) Each race has different mechanics, such as; Dodge, Melee/Heavy Melee, Movement speed... etc.
This is also correct.3) Each race has different Health/Shield amounts.
This isn't really. Of all the races we've got, very few have "different benefits for different weapons and powers". Notably, the Geth are the only race which give a bonus to specific weapon damage.4) Each race has different Racial Trees with different benefits for different weapons and powers.
The evolutions for shared powers are also the same, it is the combination of the different powers which make them unique.

I agree that Bioware should release a wide variety of characters/maps/powers etc, so we arent playing the same thing over and over again....But can you really say the Phoenix humans in the Rebellion pack were just like the ones we started off with? I certainly dont think so.
If in the next pack they have more humans I'm sure they'll differ on multiple levals from the ones we've already played as.

No powers, can't run, can't use cover, has ridiculous amounts of health and can crawl around when incapacitated.

Yeah, because apparently.... there's something to discuss. But this is what...? Your second failed attempt at trolling and adding nothing to the discussion?
Bravo.
You can argue about them being "human" or "alien", but the classes itself can still be great, regardless of who they are, human or alien. I would love a Drell Infiltrator ... but if they came out with a human one instead, with the same skill setup (which is the important part), you would still get mad because it's human, which I don't see what the fuss is.
I'd rather they make some more female classes for the female gamers out there, but I'm grateful we're getting this much content at all (and it's all be FREE, so far).
Oh, and one thing - it's a leak.

I don't want to troll you but we never got a Prothean leak, we got a Pheonix leak and we have Pheonix now.

Well, to get back on the discuss I think, as you said, that is not so important for the new classes to be human or alien. Skills and class build posibilities are a lot more important I think. And, it's an Earth based DLC, new chars are human, seems more than legit to me.
Exactly, that's why it bugs me when people just focus on the class being "human or alien". The class itself, is the important aspect.

1) I'm calling BS on your circle of RPG friends that think roleplaying as aliens/subhumans are boring. Most DnD groups have Dwarves and Elves. Fact.
2) YES. Each racial tree is different. Asari Justicar gets power duration bonuses, Batarians get Spare Ammo, Turians get Stability. There are other minor differences. So you are wrong when you say Geth are the only notable ones.
Sorry but your wrong in more ways that you are right in that post.

To quote you here:
"Fact."
Roleplaying Dwarfs/Elves is easy. Roleplaying Ogres, Orcs, Driders, Illithids, Dragons, or anything which goes too far beyond the pale of the "iconic" races which are played(read: abhumans) becomes more and more easy because of them being described in very definitive terms.
I see that reading isn't your forte.2) YES. Each racial tree is different. Asari Justicar gets power duration bonuses, Batarians get Spare Ammo, Turians get Stability. There are other minor differences. So you are wrong when you say Geth are the only notable ones.

You took one part of my statement, and quite clearly decided to go with something else entirely.
Geth are the only race which have bonuses to specific weapons. Tell me I'm wrong. Really, tell me I'm wrong on that. Turians having stability and Batarians having spare ammo means nothing; they apply that to all weapons they equip. The only "unique" thing about them is that certain races have different signature weapons; such as Turians getting weight reduction for Assault Rifles...which is arguably silly, considering other races have weight reduction on ALL weapons.
The other part of my statement which you replied to is that "The evolutions for shared powers are the same, it is the combination of the different powers which make them unique".
You seem to have missed that concept, instead deciding that it was aimed at the racial trees. It wasn't.
A Shockwave on a Batarian Sentinel is going to be the exact same as a Human Vanguard or Adept. What makes it unique is that it can be used in conjunction with their net ability.

This is technically false, as the Biotic Charge for the Krogan Vanguard is not the same as the Biotic Charge for the other species. He gets a longer base cooldown, and melee synergy at rank 5 instead of power synergy.
Bioware obviously has no issues tweaking abilities to reflect the species they're on a bit.

Hahaha, you're cute kid. If reading isn't my forte, than writing definitely isn't yours, nor is memory of what you actually wrote and what we were talking about to begin with.
Remember. We were talking about "racial trees" not racial weapon bonuses. And you completely ignored how Batarian Spare Ammo is kind of a unique bonus that benefits certain weapons more than others, and how the Asari Justicar (AJA) racial tree has power duration bonuses.... if that doesn't DIRECTLY AFFECT powers more than any other racial tree well... who am I kidding it does. It has a direct impact on her powers and how they become unique to other races that share those powers.... such as Reave for Drell and Pull for... uh many other R/C combos.
