as the title says the discs are starting to show cracks and peices of plastic missing  from the  where the discs lock into the tin case and i rather not have them break on me. so my question is can  a normal copy still work with the ce editions?

or do i have to find ce discs to continue playing my games{ fyi my tin disc holders are not made from the xbox plastic there the standard white  strong plastic}  that you have push down down and pull the disc off to get it off the holdings and its beginning to break the inside rings and really dont want to break my discs every time i want to play my game or use mp.

so again anyone know that a ce game will work with the normal game disc, if the material is already downloaded?

I use CD jewel cases to store my ME2 CE/ME3 CE games. The steel cases are horrible.

thats the thing the tin cases are the normal jewel case rings you know you have to push down and lift and if you dont push down hard enough you  will run the risk breaking the cd in 2 peices

and yes i said that i already dlc the ce  stuff so i guess the normal game  wont  cause any  difficulties to the ce stuff that downloaded after the game is played
and thanks for the answers  looks like i am going to buy  regular copy so o dont break my ce discs

This past week my XBOX has been telling me it cannot read my discs :(. It's only happened a few times and I was able to eject it and inspect the disc and put it back in. But I've stored my discs ONLY in the CE box, it's a CE obviously, and I handle them very carefully. I might have to buy a "regular" version since for some reason my disc is now having issues being read intermittently.

This is why I don't want to store my discs in those HORRIBLE cases. Sure they look nice, but it every time I try to take my discs out I feel like I'm breaking them! Bad design...

I've been having this problem too. The metal tin is beautiful, but I'm afraid to use it as disk 1 is starting to show a lot of cracks. Even more problematic, since I've barely moved it. (I've done straight play throughs without switching to other games, so only changing the disc twice from start to finish) A disc should be able to be taken in and out of its own case less than a dozen times without showing any wear!

I'm thinking of seeing if I can get EA/bioware to replace them as they should be considered manufacturer defect. Has anyone else done this? What's their response?

get a pair of nail clippers - small. remove your discs from the tin case. use nail clippers on the little plastic 'tags' around the raised plastic ring your disc fits on. no more problems :D
