Sorry, but no. Making the difficulty harder is not going to deter bad players from playing.
It doesn't deter them from playing gold does it?
Please, read my original post.

Well my point is that Silver is functioning more as a springboard than a training camp for Gold. And your right, the point of Silver (or farming) is 1) to gain the credits/skill necessary to move into Gold and 2} its easier than Gold.

You seem to think that making silver harder will somehow keep bad players from thinking silver is easy and keeping them out of gold.
No. This will not work.
Besides, FBWGG is what teaches bad gold habits.

Silver is fine, it has nothing to do with the people in your Gold lobbies that you think are beneath you.
You're right, I do think they're beneathe me (skill wise) and then Gold proves me right.
Goldilocks can go and play in their own place if the silver is not for their liking

It proves you're not good enough to compensate for a slightly underskilled player.
Its amazing how you find proof in nothing at all. To 'prove' my skills you would have to test them in some way (like play a Gold game with me). My suggestion for an increase in the difficulty of Silver is no proof of my skill. A statement of skill is not proof of that skill.
Since the lobbies are full of these "slightly underskilled players" I am forced to play with at least one on my team in most of my games. The problem is when its 2 or more of these "slightly underskilled players" fill the lobby.

The store system is largely to blame for people playing above a difficulty level that they're comfortable with.

I can't make sense of your reasoning OP. Let me know if I've misstated something
1) Silver is too easy
2) The hardest thing about it is all the bad players there (i.e., people playing silver are so bad that they actually make the game harder, instead of helping)
3) [Presumably because people find silver too easy] they try to play gold, and since they're really too bad even for silver, they screw up gold games too.
4) Therefore, make silver harder to keep the horrible players there from feeling like they are too good for silver, thus keeping them out of gold.
Wow, if only you would've read my post:Ryan_H wrote...
After playing a couple games in Silver this weekend (misread the
community goal) I realize now why so many noobs end up in my Gold
games. Silver is too easy!! The hardest thing about Silver is the bad
teammates. Maybe, just maybe, if Silver was harder then the noobs who
are now emboldened by how easy Silver is currently wouldn't fill up the
Gold Lobbies.
You spent a lot of typing because instead of reading you pressumed or more precisely assumed (presumed was your word of choice not mine). Just to clarify for you (only a sentence or two; I think you can handle that!): I don't think that the BAD SILVER PLAYERS are migrating to Gold because Silver is too hard for them (or in your words, "they're really too bad even for silver"). Its the decent/good Silver players who are making the jump because they find Silver too easy; and there they are totally unprepared for the Gold experience.
I don't see how you can say I didn't read your post, if people can't understand the point you're trying to make, think about whose fault that is. :innocent:
So you think that the good silver players are migrating to gold, but are still too bad for gold. If you had read what I posted, instead of just reacting defensively, you'd have noticed that I actually listed that as a possibility.
You're still missing a pretty fundamental point. If you make something harder, without increasing the reward, you're not going to encourage people to do more of it.
Now since I've tried to be a gentleman, despite your condescending response, you might try expanding your argument to account for that very fundamental rule of human motivation. Or you might just try to insult me again, I guess we'll see.

Sadly, your insult and poor reading abilities have more in common with your own insult than my claim.
If
you would have carefully read what I wrote you would see that I grant
farming (only done in FBWGG) and silver equal status for developing the
skills and credits necessary to move into Gold.

LOL...your ignorance is hilarious. And you're living proof that the ignorance and pettiness go hand in hand.

What can I say that better proves what I said than what you already said? You aren't good enough to carry what you label as a "silver player" through gold when countless people have posted scoreboards in unrelated threads showing that they can. That points the problem squarely at you and your not knowing why those people are even in gold.
All you're saying is punish the people in silver and that isn't going to do anything except drive people away from silver and into gold.

I still play in silver quite often when I don't care as much about earning tons of credits and want to play something that is of my skills level. But if you made silvers MORE difficult, then what's the point of me ever going back to silver? I get WAY less reward that I do from gold, and any more difficult and I will probably fail it as often as I fail gold.
So I will tell you right now, making silver harder will only drive more players into playing Gold because Silver would not be worth it. I would only go back to playing silver more of the time if it stayed this hard but awarded more credits, maybe like 45 - 50k.

I apologize. After all that time you spent ripping my suggestion apart--in a polite way (but based on a flawed assumption) I should've reciprocated your politeness.
I didn't miss your 'fundamantal' point I just only addressed the assumption you made in your polite argument.
As far as reward goes I think the current reward for all levels of difficulty is too low. One gold game IMO should equal one PSP (99K credits) while one Silver game should equal 1/2 of a PSP (or 50K credits), etc...

Making silver more difficult isn't going to help at all. I'm one of these players that you are complaining about, I'm fairly good at beating silver, but probably not quite good enough to be handling gold. But I go into gold matches anyway from time to time because it has such a major increase in the amount of credits you can earn, and I want my PSPs.

I agree with your point on the reward. Mr. Heavy brought this up previously and I just now addressed it. Here's what I said:

As you've point out you're in the middle zone between being too good for Silver and not good enough for Gold. The reason you are stuck there is because Silver doesn't prepare you for Gold (in credits or experience). Thus my suggestion for correcting that is to 1) up the difficulty level of Silver and 2) increase the reward. And then when you had mastered the more difficult Silver you would be prepared for Gold in terms of weapons and experience. Gold would still be difficult but it wouldn't feel impossible.
