As far as reward goes I think the current reward for all levels of difficulty is too low.  One gold game IMO should equal one PSP (99K credits) while one Silver game should equal 1/2 of a PSP (or 50K credits), etc...

The credit rewards are fine the way they are now. They need to introduce a platinum difficulty which gives 100k credits. This way after 1 game, bronze players can buy recruit packs, silver can buy vet packs, gold can buy a spectre pack and platinum can buy a psp.

A platinum difficulty can also make people like you (and I) play in a difficulty where gold would be the training for platinum. I agree with your arguement because as a frequent gold player, I see where you are coming from. But at the same time I can understand why people who think silver doesn't give enough credits would go to gold for the only purpose of getting credits (I used to do it until I actually became capable of pulling my own weight only on FBWGG though). With a slight increase of credits from gold to platinum (only a 25k difference from my suggestion) Those who can't make the challenge would stay at the lower one due to effort vs reward. This gives the players willing to do it only play with others who can.

You see, there are these lovely things in human nature called "curiosity" and "boneheaded determination". I am guilty of having both of those.

Curious as in, how does anyone know if gold is too hard for them? The only way to know is to try. And boneheaded determination comes in when after the first 3 rounds you've been ground into a fine paste, refined into medigel and molded and baked into something that roughly resembles you again. And still keep on going because of that lovely cliché "failure teaches more then success"

I've tried gold, and the lines above illustrate the experience. I know I am a silver player. Sometimes the matches are a breeze, sometimes I am grinding my teeth and checking the scoreboard for the off-chance someone ninja-set the game to gold. Hell, I've had the same experiences in bronze.

So, tl;dr, What I'm trying to say is that you can't do anything about this. Unless BW implements some sort of milestone, like a... I dunno, a certain N7 score; You are going to have to drudge through it. Consider it a... surprise difficulty setting, a sort of "Platinum".

After playing a couple games in Silver this weekend (misread the community goal) I realize now why so many noobs end up in my Gold games.  Silver is too easy!!  The hardest thing about Silver is the bad teammates.  Maybe, just maybe, if Silver was harder then the noobs who are now emboldened by how easy Silver is currently wouldn't fill up the Gold Lobbies.

EDIT:  As far as reward goes I think the current reward for all levels of difficulty is too low.  One gold game IMO should equal one PSP (99Kcredits) while one Silver game should equal 1/2 of a PSP (or 50K credits), etc...

A player who has 'mastered' Silver should have both the experience and weapons to make the transistion into Gold.

I personally think Silver is fine as it is. For me, silver is what I play when none of my friends are online. Gold is too difficult with randoms who don't communicate, but silver is doable even when no one communicates.

I think you're worrying about it too much.

It's a public game for everyone who ownes a copy. They deserve a place to play, even if they don't meet your standards.

I think Gold matches are usually easier because you usually end up playing with better players, but I'm not worried about people just trying to have some fun on Silver and Bronze.

I agree.  Platinum is needed.

I, like you, got Gold ready playing FBWGG.  It was really frustrating for awhile.  I was a top scorer in Silver but in Gold I was overwhelmed.  Farming provided me with the transistion between Silver and Gold in terms of experience and weapons.  That being said I didn't like grinding and it wasn't an enjoyable transistion.

People shouldn't have to farm to get Gold ready which is why I think and increase in difficulty and reward is warranted.

Is there anywhere in my post where I assign myself the gatekeeper of Gold?  If so please show that to me.

I think your experience proves my point.  SIlver doesn't prepare you for Gold.  I doubt that you are incapable of playing Gold.  I play Gold and I'm pretty decent and if I can do it then most other people can.  I'm not a gamer.  ME3 is the first FPS I've played since HALO came out.

What you need is a training ground for Gold.  For many people that's FBWGG.  You shouldn't have to farm to get the experience and weapons necessary to move in to Gold but its due to the low difficulty and low reward of Silver.

Maybe Ryan H isn't good enough for gold and wants silver harder so he can have a challenge without dying a lot?

Ever think of that?

If that were the case that would still prove my point.  Silver is too easy.

It was the training world for the Emperor's elite soldiers, the Sardukar, in the Dune books.

Thanks.  I remembered after the Duncan Vanguard comment.  Its been a good ten years since I read the books.

Playing with randoms, on Gold or any other level, is always a crap shoot. Making Silver harder won't change that. It would be great to have a match system that allows you to filter out likely in-over-their-heads players, but there is no consensus that any metric would be helpful. We are left with the option of being selective about our squadmates on a case by case basis.

If silver were to be made any harder than it already is, I would stop playing with randoms all together - and this weekend so far has proven it. I have been playing with so many garbage players that make me think they are playing by slapping their controllers against their heads.

Random/Random/Silver. Playing with a friend who is under N7 200 and the only gun she has at level X is her Avenger, and she went down maybe twice all game, while the 2 randoms, including a N7 1500+ were dropping EVERY WAVE. Geth on Glacier IS NOT THAT HARD.

I don't mind carrying a wave or two by myself but 2-manning a Silver set for four is a [censored] joke.

i think you are right , no gold player would come here and cry about silver since  they made geth harder with no head shots on primes and other races that used to be easier on gold runs would assume that he would pipe down and  shut his mouth before they increase the health pool of all mobs and nerf all the new guns that non infilts are able to use without penalty, i wonder if h he actually plays on gold at all since he talks about silver so much.

I wouldn't say that the problem of silver is that it's too easy. It is very hit and miss. Sometimes you simply lack the "synergy" so you get creamed. Other times, things just click and the whole thing goes over like a breeze.

Somehow I get the strange tingly feeling that gold is this game's version of "raiding". You don't go raiding until you got at least the most basic of the Epic gear to get more epic gear, or get it faster. A kind of end-game that you start to take part in when the main content has lost its challenge because you have outgrown the mobs.

God no.

Silver offers a nice medium between Bronze and Gold. It's not a cake walk but it easily finished by most teams. Making it harder will only make finishing games harder and force more unoptimum builds back to bronze as people start kicking them from silver lobbies.

90% extraction rate is proof that its too easy.  90% isn't a challenge; its a cake walk.

I never said it was easy. That's usually when I'm exhausting most of my equipment and still having the bottom score because of my bad framerate. I have to go all-out to succeed on Silver.

There are people out there who won't venture outside of Bronze because it's all they can handle. There are people who play Gold regularly because they find that to be an adequate challenge. Naturally, there are also people for whom Silver is just right.

Keep in mind the vast difference in credit rewards; Gold gives more than twice as much as Silver, which gives about twice as much as Bronze.

Irrelevant. Silver is meant to be a midground between bronze and gold, and it's acting as just that.

I love how everyone who disagrees with the OP simply "Didn't read my whole post".

So absolutely EVERYONE who disagrees with you is just ignorant?

Silver being too easy is NOT why crappy players go to Gold. It's because the Gold rewards are so much BETTER than the Silver ones, that they assume someone will just carry them through it for sweet lootz.

That actually means Gold is too hard, not Silver is too easy.  The opposite is exactly true.  Gold needs to be made easier, so that people moving up from Silver to Gold have a better chance of success.

Gold doesn't have to be so hard...  let it be a challenge but keep it fun.  The beauty of silver is that you can have fun and not play to lose half the time.  And making Gold more accessible will improve lobbies, more people that can play any/any/gold and will choose to do so.

As it stands today, the only reason anyone plays gold that isn't prepared, is because of the credits.  Nothing more, nothing less.

You know what I'd do if they made silver harder right now? Move on up to gold, I might as well since the difficulties will have become more closer.

This is coming from someone who never plays gold. Not even for the weekend events because I know I'm just not good enough yet.

Well, seems like we'll have to make BRONZE harder too since the difference with the new upgraded Silver will be too high for new players to handle.
