So you're basing this thread off someones complaint thread because bronze players are going into silver and possibly gold for this weekend's event and most likely won't come back after it?

Your new comment only proves the validity of my previous comment:

Read my original post closely and use a dictionary if necessary (www.dictionary.com) and being the highly intelligent individual you are you will be able to answer your own question.

If not I can't help you any further.

1.  Resources.  Yes, your right the lower levels don't prepare you resource wise for the upper levels (e.g. you don't make enough credits playing Bronze for decent weapons for Silver).

2.  Each level should prepare you for the next.  When you are consistently a top scorer on Bronze you should theoretically be ready for Silver.  The problem is that the current levels don't prepare their players for the next level of difficulty.  Thus players are faced with the dilemma of dragging down their teammates in the higher level game that their not prepared for or being stuck playing the low level game that is boring to them.

3.  N7 rank is useless after N7 20 and you shouldn't use it to assess a player's skill.

1. I entered Silver with nothing but an Avenger X. You can get "good enough" to function on Silver playing Bronze. No, Bronze doesn't vomit up enough credits to buy PSP but that is what Silver is for - to get the cash to upgrade weapons. Way, way too much fear about equipment when most of what goes wrong ain't guns but poor use of power and tactics.

2. Bronze preps for Silver much better than Silver for Gold. Gold is much more punishing of non-optimized builds.

3. N7 is useless now we can agree.

As someone that had barely mastered Silver before I went to Gold I can say that the transition was fluent and without problems. Silver is fine.

After playing a couple games in Silver this weekend (misread the community goal) I realize now why so many noobs end up in my Gold games.  Silver is too easy!!  The hardest thing about Silver is the bad teammates.  Maybe, just maybe, if Silver was harder then the noobs who are now emboldened by how easy Silver is currently wouldn't fill up the Gold Lobbies.

EDIT:  As far as reward goes I think the current reward for all levels of difficulty is too low.  One gold game IMO should equal one PSP (99Kcredits) while one Silver game should equal 1/2 of a PSP (or 50K credits), etc...

A player who has 'mastered' Silver should have both the experience and weapons to make the transistion into Gold.

As many have pointed out their posts, BW did make silver harder - they call it gold.  It appears that your real problem is that you don't like to play with these "noobs" in YOUR GOLD GAMES.

Here's an easy solution: Host a match and make it private.  Thus you won't have any of the noobs, scrubs or whatever insulting term you'd like to use defiling your games.  You could invite like-minded indivduals (I would guess there's more than 4) and play to your heart's content.

I mostly stick with Bronze, personally. When I want to play my developed characters (ie level 20s with decent builds that I'm comfortable with) I will occasionally play some Silver matches. I feel like the increased difficulty going from Bronze to Silver is appropriate.   We usually succeed, but there's a lot more falling back, taking cover, res cheesing, etc..

Requesting an increase in Silver's difficulty just to discourage more players from trying Gold is not a good justification.

This pretty much sums it up http://en.wikipedia....Peter_Principle

One of the quotes "employees tend to rise to their level of incompetence". That means that the pattern will always continue even though you make silver harder or add a platinum difficulty above gold. If silver would be harder than it is now it would be like playing gold, and if that were the case then why do we even need two difficulties for?

When you are good at something (as in real life) you rise up the ladder, and while trying to climb to the top you will find yourself getting stuck at your own level of incompetence. The point is that most players who are to good to play silver will get stuck in gold as crappy players, that's just the way it is.

Mmmhh, I mostly play Silver, but the few times that I've tried Gold it's not that hard, I've gotten up to wave 8 with randoms, so it's not that bad and it's not that much of a leap, so, no, I don't think Silver should be made harder.

Thing is when I go back to Bronze now it's boring, super boring, I can do it solo, but I find that even more boring, I like to see crazy loadouts from people that are experimenting or don't know any better. So that's pretty much it, once you go Gold or Silver you can't go back it's just dull.

They should just introduce Platinum already. Gold is already too easy if you play good classes with decent teammates.

Agree.  But still the jump from Bronze to Silver is not reflective of the jump from Silver to Gold.

This is true , gold is a much harder difficulty than silver , while silver is barely more difficult than bronze,  they're pretty much the same to me.Make silver a bit harder , raise the credits for both and introduce platinum.
Maybe I wouldn't complain about credits if cc's weren't so omni present.

I remember one random screaming "Silver?! Are you sure, dude?" when host changed it from bronze just after release. Transition from bronze to silver wasn't easy for me even I beat gold in demo. SO I'd say silver is fine, after gold games it feels empty and easy.

As someone who plays Silver almost exclusively and gets successful extraction about 90% of the time, I can say sincerely that Silver is just fine the way it is.
.

90% extraction rate is proof that its too easy.  90% isn't a challenge; its a cake walk.

which makes it fun. I can go into silver with pretty hilarious builds and weapons and not have to worry about getting roflstomped 100% of the time like in Gold where if I'm not using my best characters or weapons it's almost pointless to do gold. I like silver becasue it's more forgiving and enjoyable imo.

I don't play to try hard, I play to have fun =)

People complaining about how silver isn't hard enough -> go to gold

people complaining about the people who just say go to gold -> lack of common sense in all probability

people who want a transition from difficulty to difficulty -> totally understandable, but don't try to change something that isn't broken. Propose a difficulty in between, or something along those lines.

Silver should not be harder, because we have gold for those that want a bigger challenge.

I don't find Gold hard, but I have more fun in Silver. It's less stressful and, to me, a solid difficulty that's not too hard but not easy enough to sleepwalk through it. Half of the fight is just trying to keep the team alive, and a dysfunctional team in Gold can mean a total waste of over 25 minutes.

Geth are pretty much a step up relative to their difficulty anyways (if only because they are relentless and capable of idiotic stunlocking), so there's your Silver+ mode.

The new weapons and gear has made silver easier and maybe to easy. Because of those new items I have seen less team work than before and this has allow players to just run amuck. Of course they will die sooner than later and be far enough away that makes it impossible to revive them. Once this starts to happen the whole group tends to fall apart.

Another thing I have noticed and this goes back well before the latest DLC is the huge difference in sucess during the day vs at night. During the day (I live in Oregon) I almost always make it to extraction with most being full. However during the night hours that sucess drops off a lot. I don't know why that is but it is what I see.

A man finds this very strange and silly. If one wants higher difficulty, a man joins a gold match.

A man don't whant your "higher difficulty", now good day.

A man must agree. A man thinks OP is full of it, and should stop crying and go back to playing the game.

But... that seems to be the case for most of the BSN community, unfortunately.

Depends on your classes, weapon and gear/equipment.

Before the Falcon nerf, you could go into a Cerberus/Geth Gold match at level 1 and do fairly well.

We don't need to make silver harder or platinum difficulty.

We need more customizable difficulty.

Add sliders with bronze, silver and gold medals for the following things:

1)Enemy hit points
2)Enemy Damage (how much damage enemies do)
3)wave size(how many enemies in each wave)
4)wave composition(types of enemies in each wave and how soon they appear)

If you put all the sliders on the same medal, you get that difficulty.  Credit and xp bonuses increase or decrease depending on the sliders.

This way, people can play a harder silver if they want without going to gold. This also would be a good way to have a platinum difficulty.  Because if Platinum was as much harder than gold as gold is harder than silver....I'm not sure how many people would play it.

I think the problem is not with Silver, but with anything related to melee. Hence the IQ-lowering effect on many people (but not necessarily you, dear reader) of playing Vanguard, Krogan, and now Vorcha and Phoenix or carrying a Reegar. Gold is faster in correcting mistaken notions, and bad habits can live forever in Bronze. But that's just the way it is with different levels of difficulty.

I play Bronze for enjoyment and Silver when I want to earn more credits.

I try but I will never be good enough to survive Gold without good, experienced, teammates. I've done it a number of times but it is quite an effort for me.

Bioware should develop a Platinum difficulty for those who declare that Gold is too easy. However why not leave the credit rewards the same as Gold as these particular players say they're looking for a greater challenge. Would that be reward enough?

I can pretty reliably complete silver in a PUG. But gold just rolls me, pretty much every time in a PUG.

I *like* silver the way it is, fun and sometimes difficult. The idea that making silver harder will discourage people from loitering and crapping up your gold lobby seems . . . flawed.

Well my point is that Silver is functioning more as a springboard than a training camp for Gold.  And your right, the point of Silver (or farming) is 1) to gain the credits/skill necessary to move into Gold and 2} its easier than Gold.

And it's a nice place for people like me who can beat it, but feel that Gold just isn't fun to play and want a challenge level less restrictive on usable weapons/class builds to enjoy.  I think silver is fine, I think Gold is fubar'd out the rear and their should be a fourth challenge level.
