Finally downloaded this DLC after playing DA-O since release, was expecting
at least a level worth of playing with lot's of hack'n slash and some extra quests.

Sorry to say, i got greatly disappointed when i started playing and finished
the entire DLC in about the same time i takes to order a pizza and get it.
All i did was kill a few skeletons, go into the keep, slay some demons
and helped a mage cleanse the keep, and it was over....

No extra quests. Some loot and a new merchant. I know i just spent 7$ on it,
but a few minutes of extra playtime?, i seriously hope RTO-DLC will be better.

*Return To Ostagar.

It cost less than your pizza, too. Around an hour or so of entertainment, some fun additions, some nice gear and spells - all for less than the cost of you meal. Doesn't sound like you have much to complain about to me.

You can only eat your pizza once, too.

$7 is 14% of the price you paid for Dragon Age: Origins. My metric would be that it should have a length of gameplay reflecting that.

I was also very disappointed in Soldier's Peak and I doubt I will be buying any similarly-structred DLC packs in the future.

Plus it adds a couple vendors to the game, one of which can help you make a pretty powerful sword.

If you just want phat lewt you can make it yourself with the toolkit, or download a mod to add it. I cannot justify paying money for in-game items in any game, but in particular it's silly to do so in a moddable single-player game like this one.

I think I've been too spoiled with Fallout 3 DLC which adds at least 5 hours of gameplay for a reasonable price. This just doesn't sound like it's worth it for my strained budget.. maybe they'll release a pack of them in the future..

That pretty much kills the Pizza comparison. DLC won't give you heartburn either/high colestorol/love handles either.

It reveals a new chapter in the history of the Gray Wardens and Ferelden in addition to everything else. For me, it's most def worth it for the lore. In the overall game, I thought it a very good supplement and have no regrets buying it. Add to that I'm a 360 player and...

Sorry you don't feel it lived up to your expectations, hopefully you'll be able to preview future DLC and find it to be more to your liking before you buy.

What did it really add to the lore? We knew from the loading screen blurb that the Grey Wardens were kicked out of Ferelden for interfering in politics, and we don't learn much more about why they actually decided to from the Peak dialogue. We knew that the Grey Wardens were okay with Blood Magic because Duncan pretty much comes out and says so in the Mage origin, so it's not a huge surprise that they had a malefecar either.

What did it tell you that you didn't know before?

I thought it told me quite a bit.

Sophia went insane from obsessing about the throne, staged a coup and took over the Ferelden Gray Wardens, then led them in an uprising against the rightful king when there was no reason for the Gray Wardens to interefere in local politics.  She went so far as to push Blood Magic to some verra bad results and managed to get most everyone there killed, and the rest of the Ferelden Gray Wardens banished.

I found it completely fascinating.  I understand that background/history/lore is not everyone's cup of tea, but I like to take every scrap I can get as it builds out the world for me and creates a more immersive game.

The one thing that Soldier's Peak needs is the ability to swap party members in and out of your party after the area is cleared. That would make the storage chest a great deal more useful.

This I totally, without reservation, completely 100% agree with.  That was ENTIRELY too annoying.

I confess I was a bit disappointed too.

I had understood that I would get to use the Keep itself as a base after Levi and his family had tidied it up a bit. I was looking forward to seeing it transformed from a broken, old, cobwebby ruin, into quite a sweet pad. I thought it would be arranged like the camp or Arl Eamon's house in Denerim, with a spot for all the team etc.

So when I returned and couldn't get into it, I thought I'd screwed things up somewhere and actually went back a few saves and did it again only to find out that was that.

Perhaps this makes me a dunce! Oh well :)

DLC - See content for every game that gives you really good items but does not contribute too significantly to the overall storyline or plot.

Don't get me wrong, there are definitely imperfections in it, as there are in other areas of the game. My own experience was that I gained more than I didn't.

For PC users, there are several mods that add a storage chest or similar to your party camp. Much more practical. Also, free.

From a story point of view, I didn't find Soldier's Peak to be particularly novel or interesting. It was a rather generic plot; it didn't help that it was largely told using flashbacks, the most hackneyed cliché method I can think of, and that the entire segment had no relation to or effect on the rest of the game's story.

it was badly marketed , it was said to be a base of operation which definitely was not , what made me most dissatisfied was that once you completed the main quest and exited the keep you could not enter it afterwards ,when i first played it i spared Avernus and told me he would do research so i thought that later on he would come to me shouting i found something, thinking that i would get the two remaining abilities in those slots things

note that i had pre ordered the game and it came earlier than street date (2 days) so it was one of the first places i went and there was not much info about the keep back then so some people thought (as i did) that the keep was bugged or something only to find out it was intended , so in a sense yes i was disappointed i could not enter it again and only have tents outside with 2 merchants , not really a base of operation if you ask me

I replayed it yesterday and yes, it was disappointed. I'm happy I barely payed for it (got digital for CE for 55$ thanks to Steam's error)...

I was disappointed mainly because I saw how big and beautiful it was and yet, we can barely explore anything and can't enter it after. Hell, there's a big door outside you can't even go into. It wouldn't be that bad if you add that with a mod but with the way DLC is done, you can't do anything with it. It was definitely badly marketed.

That doesn't mean I don't like it, it's just less than expected with the marketing.

If your a mage, the Diabolist powers help out for extra magic juice, and I like the graphics for slicing yourself open with a blood fountain. As far as the storyline for soldiers peak, I liked the possessed warden boss portion in her office. Overall I would say it was worth it, but barely - Not being able to go back into the castle was a downer.

People keep saying it's the price of a pack of cigarettes, but my packs usually last 1-2 days. This DLC lasts an hour at most.

There are no Surgeon General warnings against the DLC, though.

Um...I think.

To be fair, it's only 7$ (so no matter how poor you are, I just don't believe that it's soooo out of your price range. If it was, you'd likely not be spending your money on a video game to begin with), so yes, your burger combo probably costs more. Also, there have only been a thousand threads like this already, and Warden's Keep came out weeks ago, so one could easily research other people's opinions and decide whether or not it is worth it.

make it yourself in the toolkit? What else can you make in there, oh yeah your own levels. So your argument is invalid if you are going to go to that length.

If you think you are that good, why not make an exact copy of Wardens Keep, with all the stuff that came in it including all the voiceover work and offer it for less than what it cost for Wardens Keep.

Tell me, can you re-use your cigarettes that you have smoked from that packet after you've smoked them all?

No, whereas with Wardens Keep, you can.

Other then it being pretty much irrelevant after completed i didn't mind it much.

Though, advertising it as a base of operation was a flat out lie.
