Im going to start a mage playthrough on nightmare mode, which i havent done before. so im wondering if there is any hints or tips that any of you guys can offer. the last time i was a mage, it was on hard mode.

Fire Resistance Gear and Inferno,Fireball and Grease Fire abuse for caster I guess. That's what I usually do and it's pretty great. Spirit healer first spec, then whatever.

Arcane warriors are always cheap. 

I don't really think you need a guide to arcane warriors though.

Wherever possible imobilise crowds from a distance and attack with Area of Effect spells, preferably combos (Storm of the Century, Grease fire etc) - this will soften up you opposition fot other attacks
You could also wimp out and install the "one second cooldown" mod so your spells become available more quickly.....
