What I'm trying to say is did one LI grow on you (or even become your favorite) in Mass Effect 2/3?

For me, it was Ashley. I wasn't a big fan of her in ME1, but when I replayed it a few months ago, I kind of liked her more. I find her independent and I admire her love for her family. While her mistrust about Shep and Cerberus is a little annoying, I think it would be foolish to immediately trust Shep given Cerberus' reputation.  I also thought her romance was well done in ME3.

Did any LIs grow on you or become your favorite in ME2/3?

Ash and Garrus did. I mean, I never had any real issue with them to begin with, and always thought they were perfectly fine characters and love interests. But they've really, really grown on me over the course of the last eight months or so (maybe a little more, in Ash's case), to the point that they are now among my favorite love interests in the series.

I'm with you on the Ashley part. Liara used to be my favorite, but Ash is now.

Kaidan. I thought he was really interesting guy in first game, but I wasnt obsessed with him or anything. But when I played it second time I discovered new dimension to his character.. And so it went.

Compared to him, Garrus romance is now boring for me. Cant even finish my Garrus romance playthrought. But amy best bro, no one can take his rightful place. Never.

I also feel like I am the only person who is not angry because of Horizon. I mean I dont think I saw most reasonable and logical reaction to Shepard death in ME, than confrontation on Horizon.

And Miranda. I thought she was OK character in ME2, but then I finally understood what made her to be the woman, she is now and thats when I had to like her more and more. I wish I could romance her as a femShep too. Lost potential there. Pygmalion love doenst care about the gender!

I always thought Ashley and Kaidan had pretty good reason for acting the way they did on Horizon. Never could begrudge either of them for it.

Glad to know I am not the only one. When I think about it, I only felt angry because I couldnt agree with them. And my Shep had to act as if they were wrong, when all I was thinking at that moment was - Yeah you right that is pretty crazy ressurection/dissapearance story.

So yep, those two grow on me. Maybe even thanks to Horizon.

I really liked Jack and Garrus. Tali in a close third.

I would say I've had the opposite - I've grown out of certain LI's.

I used to like both Ash and Liara. Now I find both annoying. In ME2 I've only ever romanced Tali, and never gotten tired of her. Miranda always annoyed me, while Jack was both sexy and scary which confuses my junk.

Now whenever I play a runthrough, I just annoy Ash about how she left her squad to die, then tell Liara to stop trying to make me embrace eternity with her. It is a struggle to not romance anyone in ME1, they don't really take a hint.

I would say though that with my Femshep, I've really grown to like the Garrus romance in ME3.

I've always liked Ash, but I've grew to like and respect her even more in ME3. Same with Kaidan.

Garrus is still a bro.

"Admiral Tali'Zorah" ... and she just ditched her people... hello? That job just can't be ditched. So yeah, Tali and the Quarians annoy me sometimes with their stupidity.

Liara does too - mainly because I can't shake her off.

All those characters I mentioned above are my favourites.

Always a fan of Ashley. I would have acted the exact same way as her and Kaidan on Horizon in ME2.

Liara again, always liked.

Tali, Jack grew on me and even Miranda eventually.

Well, Jack really grew on me, but just as a character in general, not a LI. I don't romance her myself.

Definitely Liara. Funny thinq is, I played Mass Effect 2 first, sans the LotSB dlc, then ME1 and ME3, but I still like her waaay more than any other LI.

I grew to like Tali a lot better over ME2 and ME3. In the first one I didn't quite *get* her. She wasn't annoying but she (and other Quarians for that matter) just didn't appeal to me. Now after I romanced her once in ME2, I've grown to like her A LOT more.

Liara is still by far my favourite character though and has been since the beginning.

Tali really grew on me, when I played ME1 a couple of years ago I really did not like her. But on my first play through of ME2 I really liked her...

The more I played 2 the more I grew on Jack. To the point now instead of doing New Game + with Ash (ME1) and Tali (ME2), I went back to ME2, replayed it with Jack and I'm going to load up that save once the EC comes out.

In ME I was head over heals with Kaidan and no way I thought anyone in ME2 could sway me. Then Garrus as Archangel knocked my socks off much to my shock and surprise. I still like Kaidan well enough but Garrus... oh man...

Liara for me. I liked her in ME1, but LotSB and ME3 made her easily my favorite LI in the series.

Not my LI, but i hated Kaiden in ME1, but in ME3 he actually became much more interesting and useful as a squad member. I always killed him off in ME1 for that, but hell if he doesn't survive in any future play throughs, much more interesting than Ashley thats for sure.

That and he wears normal alliance casual wear unlike ashleys "LOOK AT ME I'M SEXY GUISE"....thing....outside of combat. I still want to be able to tear him to shreds about what happened on Horizon, i accidently romanced him in ME1, wasn't intentional.

But still, an example.

Oh and Vega is the most underrated character ever. May be dumb muscle, but hes an awesome dumb muscle.

I was neutral about pretty much everyone in ME1, then after ME2 I grew to love Garrus to the point of having trouble romancing anyone else with FemShep. Still don't know how it happened, the guy's just awesome in my eyes.

I also got annoyed with Liara, even with LotSB. I keep changing my mind about her, though. Right now I love her to the point of having ditched Kaidan for her in ME3 on my super Paragon playthrough. She had great chemistry with that Shepard.

I liked Miranda in ME2, and she's now one of my favorite characters.

Romance wise, it was always Ashley.

Friendship wise - well, I think Garrus grew closest, shortly followed by Mordin. EDI made it quite up the latter too.

Yeah, I had Kaidan as a gay LI ME3, so in a way I think my perception of him changed quite a bit. Going back (at the moment) to replay Mass Effect 1 & 2, it has definitely changed my opinion on him. Since he can’t be my LI in 1&2, I realize that I’m interpreting everything the poor schmuck is saying throughout those games, changing him to fit my own fantasy world. And to me he’s sort of this sad, lonely person now. So in that sense, his character has become more interesting for me, and he's become more popular.

I also played around with Jack in the 2nd MassEffect as my LI, and actually when she popped up in the 3rd game, I thought to myself: “Oh geez, this isn’t one of those characters that gets herself together, fixes all her problems and straighten up once she meets the right guy (me in ME2) and gets laid?”. So I’d have preferred not ever romancing her, to be able to un-think my interpretation, so the cool girl’s story could be more “I did it independently, no man or woman needed”. So I liked her less in the 3rd game actually.

Garrus though, has just slowly become more and more interesting. No LI or romances needed for me to like him more and more.

Oh well. But to me, these things do make it interesting how much of a replay is actually just manipulation of my perception.

Samara, I remember back when she was reveled I hated her her boobs looked like fake unmoving implants, also wanted my ME1 LI back and was upset BW was trying to replace Liara with Samara. Heh I was an idiot kid back then. When ME came out I met Samara she still has the 2nd best intro of any squadmate in the series to date, first place belongs to Thane. But yeah when I met Samara and got to know her I fell for her HARD. I've only grown more fond of her as the years and time pass.
Samara

Best friend Thane dudes a bad@ss, my older bro Garrus, Wrex my other older Bro, dudes such a riot. Jack my well that's a weird relationship to give a term to, my young pupil I don't know. Ash my good friend always asking the questions I'd be asking myself. Kelly my very much missed pal on the Normandy. I could go on about my unique relationships with these characters.

Too bad BW did what they did with ME3s ending I'd have loved to play a ME MMORPG set after Shep defeats the Reapers and the Galaxy I save I can now live in and explore more then ever as someone other than Shep.

Miranda.

When I first saw the trailers about the characters and voice actors, I was a bit skeptical. I think it was during that whole furore about the character designs for her and Subject Zero (as she was known then). And, I mean, I'd never seen Chuck, plus the line-reading they included in a video wasn't that great (and, thankfully, wasn't the take they used).

Then she shows up, shoots Wilson in the neck and cracks wise. It was love at first sight. :P

But, yeah, as the game progressed I think the character had a really good (if a little compressed) arc. There was a complexity to the character that I think was portrayed rather well. Especially since, like some other more controversial characters, you have to make a bit of effort to get past the prickly exterior.

For the romance, there was that underlying sexual tension you didn't really get with other characters, and I liked that she was more an independent person rather than a devout Shepard follower (not looking to criticise anyone's preferences, that's just my own). Additionally, I think Yvonne Strahovski did a fantastic job with the role, and I watched all of Chuck off the back of that...

Kaidan as a Li, the Horizon thing was perfectly understandable and I was mad at my shep for not being able to agree with him more and explain it more to him.

Ashley, Miranda and Jack (in me3) as best friends has grown on me.
