Load times have always been very, very fast for me in the past. Typically they would take 1-5 seconds, often not quick enough for me to read the text at the top of the screen - even for loading large environs. However, since completing the Deep Roads areas load times have started to take between 20 and 30 seconds, even when loading small areas. Perhaps it's also related to the latest patch, I am not sure.

I do not think it's a problem on my end, when load times are working as normal the following happens:

-Transition to new area - loading screen appears - HD accesses for 1-5 seconds - area loads.

Now, this happens:

-Transition to new area - loading screen appears - nothing happens for 20-30 seconds - HD accesses for 1-5 seconds - area loads.

If I exit the game and reload it, the loading works as it used to for the first few transitions and then goes back to taking overly long.

This is an extremely well known issue that plagues alot of people, restarting the game every 2 hours or so "fixes" it for a short duration.

Bioware priorities atm unfortunately are to break more things. Real problems have to take the back seat while they decide on what skill / spell to break next.

You don't need to restart anything, just ALT+TAB to desktop and use a freeware memory cleaner (search google...), then return to game and all is fast.

Also, you may want to "autoclean" your memory. I didn't find any freeware software doing so in the right way, you need a professional tool but is wort it if you play 4-5 hours at time.

BTW, know that a secondary HD can help you a lot if used with cache priority, the game will load faster.
