In short: with a full clip of 16 rounds I fire one shot and my ammo count drops instantly to a negative number... -7 usualy but I've seen -20 as well... this instantly triggers the reload animation. And if I'm still alive when the reload animation finishes? I get one shot off and then the ammo count drops to negative again. Followed by another reload animation.
The net effect is that I fire one shot... drawing agro... then get stuck reloading while I get swarmed. Also, this drops my RoF with the mattock to about half that of the Widow.
The following are the what i've been able to prove so far:
1. It doesnt happen with the Raptor
2. In all cases I was using my Geth Engenier (I have no other class equiped with the mattock at this time)
3. In all cases I was playing on Fire Base Glacier (I doubt this is relevant)
4. In all cases it was a private match. (also not likely to be relevant)
5. It happened against both geth and cerberus.
My best guess is that it results for the high recharge rate of my GethEnge's overload. I typically spam overload as fast as recharge will allow me and fire my mattock in between overload shots. I've noticed that some times I will be reloading my mattock and overload will coem available and I will hit overload... interupting my reload and forcing me to start the reload animation over. This also fits with the raptor not having this issue as the raptors reload is faster than the mattock.
Unfortuantely every time this has happened it has been at the most hectic moments in combat... and I did not even notice if the above reload-overload circumstance had even happened before the negative ammo issue showed up... So I can only offer it as a guess.
Would any one be interested in testing it?
