What if, with all due respect and honnest desire to surprise the fan base, Bioware intended the EC to be more than it is advertised to be?

No one would ever hold them responsible to have shamlessly added more than anticipated in the EC... What if Bioware was preparing something big? Something like the IT or something completely different. Something we did not even think of that would blow our minds and to launch this title to unexpected greatness?

Please! Refrain yourself from insulting or accusing Bioware... Thank you!

P.S. This thread is not about IT and IT will not be discussed here!!!

If they were planning something, their PR-departement failed epicly.

If they were planning something they should have just said:
"Bare with us, somehting is comming.... And it's going to blow your mind!"
=Ending controversy averted.

Instead they went into bunker-mode and have only answered because they had to in order to keep any fans at all.

Restricting a proper ending from your audience is probably a bad thing to do if you're expecting positive feedback.

This is a very valid statement...

I beleive that Bioware is a lot more mature about this matter though. They understand that, although some of us are very mean and childish about their emotions towards the ending, but most of us (and the silent majority) respect their work and views (although many don't agree with them).

I beleive they understand our need to have closure and a better understanding of what is going on. I also beleive that they, as much as us, don't want this story to just end like this (chiatstorm). It's hard to say goodbye to such an epic adventure.

However... I have a feeling their is still something in store for us...

I would want the Indoctrination theory ending with a good ending and maybe some gameplay, but I can do with the beings of light theory ending too.

Of course there is! New MP character classes, new maps for MP, and look - new unlockable Zap-o-Matic gun just for $4.99! Yippie?

A suicide mission would fix the broken Cod-like-endgame.

I still don't believe we'll get any more gameplay in the EC, it's just going to be cutscenes and conversation scenes.

BUT, there *could* be a big surprise, like IT or my low-chance-theory of introducing/setting up ME4 with Shep.

They have not forced us to pay for any MP packs unless you want too.  Personally, I hate the fact that you can buy your way into new weapons and characters but you are blowing this out of proportion.

MP is explicitly tied to SP if you like it or not.  Bioware may not have wanted it to be this way but turning the ME franchise into a bit of a Meta Game is nothing but good business for them and for EA.

Like it or not, these people need to get paid.

To be fair these guys managed a massive reveal in SWKOTOR so why not with ME3?

KotOR managed a massive reveal as  the entry point into the Third Act, unless Bioware's got 1/3 of a game they've been holding onto with sadistic glee watching us scramble around there's no real way to make a massive reveal work the same way.  Without that time to see how the reveal plays out it's just pulling an M Night Shyamalan, and I think we can all agree Bioware, even on a bad day, is better than that.

I, personally, am expecting them to surpass our expectation with the EC. If they give us what they are claiming they will give us, it will be like spitting in the face of all of us fans. There really needs to be more gameplay and a Harbinger showdown and such. But we'll know soon enough, I suppose!

I just completed the game and again and watched the entire ending and i cannot see for the life of me how any of it fits. it doesn't make sense. i think they are either planning something big or they simpled rushed and boshed the ending. the ending makes no sense at the moment O.o

Just for a moment...

Who you chose for what role in the suicide mission in ME2 didn't affect the gameplay at all - you still shot the same enemies in the same places. It did, of course, affect the characters (and the final outcome if you did really badly). So could something similar be done with the EC and still fulfill the "no additonal gameplay" point?

Of dissapointment.

Bioware is planning something big.

Why wouldn't they be? It makes or breaks their reputation.

It's in their best interest to make the EC satisfy most, if not, all.

I know that a crew reunion is all I care about. That would make the game tolerable for me.

Coming back for you Tali. That's a promise...

I think they understand that this is the do or die do-over. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the jury is out until the content is delivered.

Make me proud, or make me shop elsewhere, there isn't really middle ground here.

Miranda's on Earth, you are on the now destroyed Citadel alive somehow.

Logic. There is none.

Hey, at least she didn't get stranded on The Lost World.

I just realized reading this, when we download it, where exactly in the game do we start playing from?

There's no information regarding when/where the EC will pick up, if it even will in-game, so to speak. Maybe the entirety of the EC will play out like an extended cut would in a film. Meaning there will be bits and pieces of additional content added throught the games cutscenes, so that by the time the player gets to the end-game piece, everything that happens 'makes more sense', which would in turn give the players 'more clarity and closure'. Then, after the blast, there will be some follow up epilogue cards to help clear up what happened to everyone after Shep makes his/her choice.

Well, they just confirmed in the announcement to start from before the attack on the Cerberus base. Good thing I listened to my gut and had a save right before that.

The game makes an autosave there after you 'finish' as well with the handy DLC message
