I'm not sure what you mean, I side with Zathrian so I can kill Witherfang and then double-cross him and kill him too, thus getting twice the XP and loot and having a longer boss fight.

Can you side with Witherfang, then double cross him and kill him after you kill Zathrian? If so, I didn't know you could do that.

True. Exp is pretty much in shorter supply for solos.

Nice work to Timortis btw. Question: Any advice on killing witherfang solo? Hes got a supped-up warcry that knocks down and deals lotsa dmg even to a heavy armour AW. I had to cheese that solo fight by trapping white mobs between witherfang and myself.

Witherfang is a tough boss because she hits very hard, and seems to have very high defense and resistances. I usually trap the spot she'll spawn at, and throw a bomb or two which hurts her a little bit and kills or seriously hurts a few of her gang, and if I'm lucky I'll get some free backstab time on her while she's busy overwhelming Zathrian. Then you have to basically just tank it out with her if you're a Warrior, or if you're a Rogue, you can stealth and run into the hallway on one side, pull and kill her there without whatever remaining werewolves getting in the way. You can also lay a claw trap before you pull her. She resists them most of the time, but if you're lucky you'll get a couple of free backstabs on her if she gets caught in a large claw trap.

Regarding to wolves encounter, I remember some one long ago stated that it's the most difficult fight in DAO for a low level mage. Well, I may disagree with that.

I have done this at relatively low level mage solo, just after Lothering and Shale DLC. I was at level 7 or 8, don't remember exactly.

When battle starts, on the right hand side of you is a death root plan (may be elf root, I do not remember). If you stand on the conner just beside the root plan, put your back to the rock, only 2 wolves can attack you. The rest cluster and wait for their turn. Just CC the two attacking wolves (I used Cone of Cold) and put a walking bomb on the wolf standing at the center of the clustered pack, one or two single ranged spell and the whole pack become... wolf skins. If somehow the 2 frozen wolves can manage to get free, you can CC them again. I reserved Winter Grasp and Paralyze for them.

I also used this spot for the 2 handed warrior solo. The blood dragon armor allowed me to survive 2 consecutive overwhelms. May be you need some luck to fight these wolves with a warrior who does not use potions, but if you can spare some, it's not difficult.

Using a rogue with combat stealth, I believe you can do almost anything if you have D Promise Ring to wait until your health is generated.

@ Timortis: how could you use traps against Uldred? On PS3, my enemies always regenerate health real fast if I use combat stealth as if they're out of combat. By the time I could setup another trap, they have became full health again. Is it different on PC?

Also, I tested the pond which I used to fight with Gaz on Korari wild. Gaz could follow me anywhere, also on the short cut I stated a few posts ago. When he traveled on the "short cut", his speed is greatly reduced and he normally prefer to glide on the rock above. There is no "safe place" around this pond. Even when I was on the short cut and Gaz was on the rock, he could leap me.

Anyways, this pond still gives great advantage when fighting Gaz if you don't mind kiting/pulling. Just that it's not so unfair like the barrels on the tower with the Orge.

If people say that you have to avoid kiting/pulling when soloing, it's hard to imagine they can get far without using potions.

For the High Dragon I cheesed her by just walking a foot or two back and forth and it would land and immediately fly up again without attacking me.

Me and Leliana just shot it to death while it decided to be stupid and not fireball us to bits. Easiest fight in the game for me, was hard until I started that. When Sten went down I just said screw it to a fair fight.

Where were we? :P

I'm back, fixed my computer, had to swap out the motherboard. Finished the Urn on my no potion Rogue and reached level 18, bought Lifegiver. Haven't fought the Dragons yet, I'm waiting to buy Evon's too first to have as much regen as possible.

Here are the obligatory screenshots.

Very nice!

I've been thinking of giving this a shot myself, though it'll have to wait as I've already got like four games in progress at the moment...

Side note: I didn't want hijack that other person's immunities post so in the spirit of your original post I thought I'd mention it here... Soloing a 2-Hander is a frickin' blast! Possibly it has eclipsed the dagger rogue as my new favorite class. Highly recommended!

So you went Reaver then Berserker right? Also did you spend all your points on strength?

Actually went 'Zerker first but it doesn't really matter as you will most likely not be able to spare talent points for your specializations until later anyway. Get Sunder Armor and Sweep ASAP and definitely grab Death Blow @ Lvl 12

And yes, all points into strength. ;)

So your saying by the time i get to 12 i should have both sunders and sweep and death blow? Then 13 and up go into my spec skills?

For the most part. If you don't have it already, get critical strike after deathblow. It doesn't work as intended but it's still an activated crit. Beyond that...

Reaver: Devour and Frightening Appearance are _very_ useful. Aura of Pain sucks (and will screw your damage counter). As to Blood Frenzy, I don't find the cost / benefit ratio too impressive.

Berserker: I'd wait for Resilience if not Constraint before using this much. Final Blow has a terrible stamina / damage ratio and will also shut off Indomitable. Can be amusing to use late game against weak mobs to see what kind of damage numbers you can achieve.

Warrior: Already addressed 'Death Blow' line. For the lower, get precise striking in the origin and have it running constantly. Taunt & Disengage aren't needed. Perfect Striking won't get used much and is expensive but can be very helpful in the face of heavy attack debuffs.

Destroyer: Despite the cool name this isn't too useful. It adds a passive bonus which is good, yet it's quite mild and has many strings attached.

So I haven't had much time to play, but I did have a chance to try out the "run around the dragon to regen" strat against the high dragon and it doesn't work. Even if you don't hit her, she still does the massive attacks and slaps as you circle her, and if you circle far enough away to avoid those, then she spits fire, which does even more damage. +5 health regen is not enough to offset that kind of damage. So it looks like it's the arrow method, or traps, to kill her without using potions.

Oh, and here are the screenshots of Broodmother and Branka with no pots. In the Branka fight, I wore Blood Dragon armor to see what would happen, and she could still hit me with around 140 defense. She can't hit if you're closer to 160. So defense definitely wins over more armor in this fight and Felon's Coat would have been better in this case.

Ah...so many good ideas have to be scrapped simply because they don't work. :)

Ah... yeah, I said in the other thread you could do this with high regen, but probably not solo. What's the highest health regen you can get with gear? +7 or so? (Cailan's + Lifegiver)? Seems like there are other items but they aren't coming to mind and I get stamina and health regen items confused a lot.

Just looked it up...Gamebanshee is saying Cailans set is good for +5. Lifegiver is +3 and Rose Thorn has +1

Hey on the topic of High Dragon, have you tried running back and forth (inside/outside) that circular structure in the background of your screeny? If you break the dragon's LOS he will fly and try to land on the side your on, which by that time you already moved position to the other side. My previous playthru I was able to keep it up indefinitely without suffering dmg. My point is that maybe you can use it for your regen strat.

No need, I already killed him with arrows. I also tried running back and forth behind rocks to regen, but he would fire bomb me when I tried to run back in melee range and it took far too long to regen the damage. Just running back and forth and shooting him with a bow is much much faster.

Im curious - what are your resistances at various points in the game as you play?
