Well played, sir. I've always wondered if it was possible to LOS the archers in that cubby... it's not really necessary with a full group, but that's good to know for future reference.

Timortis, I've been following your thread from the very start and was inspired to do a few nightmare solo runs of my own. Currently, I've completed two solos (Sword and Shield warrior and a Two-Handed warrior) with one more on the way (Dual Wield warrior).
I was curious about your current character, the rogue. If I'm correct, that was your heavy armor cunning rogue - is that right? I watches that video you posted, and you barely got hit, so I'm wondering exactly how your stat point distribution went.
I assume that you had some thirty-four points in strength and a good ammount in dexterity, to gain that kind of defense, though, that wouldn't leave a lot for cunning.
Also, if this was the cunning rogue, why did you decide to go with an Assassin instead of a Bard? Do you really backstab enough to make Exploit Weakness more useful than the Song of Courage?

You got the armor to survive those unavoidable attacks, such as an Grab and Overwhelm, right?
What level of the traps skill do you take? Do you actually travel around and buy ingredients in large quantities to make mass traps? I assume that you primarily use them in boss fights since almost every other fight can be done without them. The only thing that I believe could remotely cause a problem are spell casters, though they could probably be easily avoided if you target them first after coming out of Stealth.

I always take traps to level 4, even on my Warriors. I just like having combat abilities. I think I actually used traps only on 3 boss fights, Uldred, Flemeth and Witherfang. The only trap ingredients I buy, is I buy all the metal shards in all the stores I visit during the game, and I bought corrupter agents like I said for Flemeth. Otherwise I just use what I find.

When you started your rogue, did you pump strength and dexterity at a 1:2 and 2:1 scale, switching off each level? This was just a guess, since, if you did that, by level thirteen, with certain items you'd be able to use massive armor, if I counted correctly that is.
Why did you decide to use traps on Flemeth and not the High Dragon?

I honestly don't remember exactly how I increased my stats. My goal wasn't to wear massive armor at level 13 though, and I couldn't at that point.
We discussed it in this thread. There's a way you can kill the High Dragon without using traps and still not take damage, it wouldn't work against Flemeth because she doesn't fly around like that. In fact, I learned how to kill the High Dragon like that from other posters in this thread, so I give them my thanks. I was originally planning to use traps for that fight too, they saved me gold.

Question for Timortis, do you usually play human? If so why? Wouldn't the Dwarf be better for magic resist?
Anyways I just started my first solo NM run with dwarf rogue.

Anyway, I posted this in another thread, but here it is again, Dex Rogue vs Hurlock General, this is why I love dex builds.

I soloed the High Dragon with all of those characters just up front, without much hiding, as that way is very time consuming, though it lets you fight the dragon at almost any level.

I was surprised to see you take the first two spells in the Chain Lightning line, I would have assumed that you would have gotten Blizzard first, as I believe that you were going for Tempest so that you could pull off the Storm of the Century combination.
Is my analysis correct? If you've ever tried it, how did you like the Death Hex and Death Fog combination? What further spells would you take? Although Mana Clash instantly kills mages, do you really think it's worth it as you can also kill them the old fashioned way while saving a talent point. I saw that you went halfway into the Crushing Prison line, how come you didn't take Crushing Prison? Are you trying to avoid the "enchant weapon" talents as they're useless for you? Why did you decide not to take Misdirection Hex or Death Hex since you had half the line maxed out?
What was your strategy against Ser Cauthrien? Did you Paralyze her through Paralysis Explosion, cast some Damage-Over-Time spells and kite her?
Using Blood Magic actively, would you use sustainables such as Rock Armor or Shimmering Shield (if you took Arcane Warrior instead of Spirit Healer) on yourself or no? Now that Blood Control has been fixed (deals damage if the target resists), would you get it?
Thanks in advance for the answers.

I was just curious about your spell selection as a mage. From the screenshot you posted in the Arl of Denerim's Estate, I see that you maxed the Mana Clash, and Death Fog lines. I also noticed that you heavily invested in the Animate Dead line, though didn't take the final spell, which is understandable since having the skeleton does not provide much aid.

In case Timortis was unfamiliar with the build that the poster of that thread used, here's a link to the talent list:

I didn't take Animate Dead because I went into that line only for Virulent Walking Bomb, which was my bread and butter spell pretty much. It's a very strong AoE, and you can control when it goes off, and you can use it as a very powerful DoT against bosses.
I went into lightning only for Shock, I had no interest in SotC. It's an instant AoE, does good damage, and few things are resistant to lightning. Likewise, I had little interest in Blizzard. As for Mana Clash, I don't have the talents in front of me now, but isn't Spell Might also on that line right before it? That's 2 great spells in one tree, hard to pass up. Mana Clash is not only useful against Mages, it also pretty much one shots Shadows and Ash Wraiths etc.
I didn't take Crushing Prison because it's a single target spell that doesn't work on bosses. I don't think it's crucial, and I didn't want to waste a spell to get to it. I would have taken it if I had more spells.
Which brings us to Blood Wound and the Bloodmage spec. Overall, I found Blood Magic cumbersome and somewhat regretted getting it. I wanted to be a cloth caster and didn't want Arcane Warrior, but having to turn on Blood Magic to cast Blood Wound makes it a bit clunky. That's 3 talents spent to get a single spell, I don't know if it's ultimately worth it. It's also the reason I still didn't have the last 2 hexes by the time of that screenshot, I just hadn't been able to take them yet, I took them right after.
As for Ser Cauthrien, I used VWB and Curse of Mortality on her as DoTs, fully debuffed her, and used Glyph of Repulsion to keep her off of me and nuked her. Used Mind Blast, CoC, Force Field etc as needed when Repulsion was down or when she resisted it.
If I did it again, I might just take Blood Magic for the Spellpower boost and not take any of the talents and go into the Sleep/Horror line instead.

Wasn't it risky to use shock in such close quarters? In terms of damage, do you really think this spell is worth it late game? I believe I've had it do around eighty or so damage, while enough, other spells could do more.
While Crushing Prison may not paralyze bosses, it still does to significant damage over time.
The reason I'm so interested in Blood Mage is because with the use of Blood Magic, you are able to finish most fights without ever using a single mana potion, which I suppose counts for something, even if they are incredibly cheap. Also, while the AI is bad, you can control some powerful creatures with Blood Control. I was able to control the Ogre Alpha in Orzamar with it before.
What are your thoughts on Spell Wisp? It also increases Spellpower by a good amount, though not as much as Spell Might.
I didn't know that Mana Clash affected Shadows and Ash Wraiths. Thanks for the tip.

Quick question - Do you ever take Lel through the Marjolaine quest line? I'm thinking specifically of the 'Ambush' encounter and whether you managed to no-potion your way through it.
