It should be useful later on. Since you went Dex, +8 damage is a pretty big boost. It's like 50 Dex worth of damage for daggers. If only it wouldn't keep turning itself off all the time.

In my opinion there is no such a thing a fair fight in single player game. The fact one (has to) resorts to unconventional approaches when soloing does not discount the achievement of soloing, but rather the opposite as it was said: how many discovered its possible to use barrels as cover? .. creative! even if out of necessity.

No doubt challenge as this one requires good knowledge of game mechanics and the game itself which is, in a way, fun. I guess that the creators (of the game) would be suprised how players handle some encounters they designed, and I wonder what will you come up with against Sloth Demon and Uldred, assuming you will do them them early on possibly without high magic resist, as those two fights made me almost quit solo 2H run

Sloth Demon fight is easy solo, golem form stomps the hell out of everything, I've done it with 5 different solo characters so far. Uldred can be harder, the key as a Warrior is to gradually back up against the wall, so that he can't knock you away with his Massive Attacks. If he knocks you back far enough that you get out of melee range, there's a good chance he'll cast Crushing Prison, which is a fight ender. Otherwise it's pretty straightforward, he doesn't cast spells when you're in melee.

Killed Shah Wyrd in the Circle Tower. Next in line: the Sloth Demon .

The battle with Shah Wyrd was quite difficult until I discovered a fire-resistance item in my inventory (can't remember the name) which gave me +60% resistance to fire

How did you deal with the desire demons? They're a pain to kill at that level, but one of them drops a 20% cold resist amulet that becomes very useful in fighting casters until you get spell res.

I wrapped up remaining quests and killed Gaxkang and Flemeth and reached level 20. Now it's time to go rescue the queen I guess. Flemeth grabbed me 4 times in that fight! 4!!!!

Good job! I didn't fight the Desire Demon btw, I simply let her go (I'm role-playing quite a bit).

I already found the Black Grimoire so tomorrow I'm going to fight Flemeth.

Ah! You should have at least fought the one in the room with a lot of templars. She's the one who drops the amulet. It can be a really fun fight.

Anyway, it's fun watching your progress, I'm looking forward to the rest. I might be done for a while myself, I'm leaving tomorrow morning to spend a couple of weeks with a very very beautiful girl and that means no internet and no games for a while.

Oh crap . I must have skipped the room with the Desire Demon. I was busy looking for statues for that sidequest so I guess I just missed it. Hopefully she's still there after I've completed the Fade.

I'll keep posting screens in this thread and my experiences so far. Hopefully you'll return soon!

:D:D I defeated the Sloth Demon.

The Ogre fight was by far the most difficult. The other forms were very easy and I killed them in barely seconds.

Killed Uldred. Had to reload more than 15 times because he likes to use Crushing Prison and that always ends the battle .

Wooow, how awesome this is to read someone just solo's in nightmare!!!! I'm having some hard times with a full party on normal difficulty. How come you play this so easily? And how do you get such a big talentbar? I only got like 10 slots? Could you please explain it to me? Cheers

You can extend the talentbar by left clicking the right corner of the talentbar and dragging it to the right.

I wonder how you survive long enough to drink potions. For example the revenant on Lv 7: He kills me so fast I dont even have time to drink a potion. Pull and I´m dead before I stand up again.............

I am little surprised at your "position" in the room when killing Uldred bas237. The only way I found to beat him with DW rogue was as Timortis described. Back to wall preventing him from knocking me away from him then casting his stuff, because every time I tried to use the Litany on the other side of the room or got away from him he switched from melee to casting mode and I had to reload, so I rather fought abominations, saving only some mages near the spot I was using wall as "anti-knock" barrier.

Anyway good job and grats! Now, with sound "quest order" you should advance fairly quickly.

Not as much as you'd think. The only fights I spammed potions were dragon fights, because I was worried I wouldn't survive a grab if I wasn't at full health all the time, and Ser Cauthrien, because she hits really hard. Otherwise I mostly relied on Devour. I don't like using potions, and being low on health meant more damage, so.

Gratz on you solo!

I myself love the party thing and trying our several combinations, specially full melee and no mages parties... it gave me a great number of funny movies and cool combat ones too!

Now, a high level spawned High Dragon will kill anything she bites, (level 20 char in my case) no matter if in full health, at least in Nightmare. Even a Warrior with 350+HP and top gear as some of my vids show.

Which battles did you have to reload the most?

lvl 18 367 HP 2H survived all High Dragon grabs for me on NM, but maybe I was lucky..

Yup, I killed Wynne .

But if the game forces you to have a follower (if you let Wynne live), just tell him/her to wait and continue on your own.

I killed the Revenant in the Mages Tower at level 7. My stats:



It was a fairly easy fight. I used Momentum, Dual Striking, Berserk and the right mouse button :innocent:. I couldn't even use poisons.

That really helps on NM difficulty: 'grenades' and poisons. For example: I used a spirit damage poison during the fight with Uldred.

Which battles did you have to reload the most?

The battle with the Ogre in the Tower of Ishal. Grab means instant death and there's no way to dodge his Ram attack.
All battles against enemies who can use Crushing Prison, Grab or Overwhelm. Reload until you're lucky and they won't use this ability. Uldred took me 10-15 reloads. The Ogre in the ToI 20+ reloads. A normal group of Wolves 1-6 reloads.

I didn't know you could do that! I battled him in the center of the room and used the lithany when necessary. He wasn't very tough to kill but I had to reload 10-15 times because he uses Crushing Prison a lot (which ends the battle).

Nope, I was there alone. First, I wanted to kill her with a bow from a spot she cannot reach me (found about it with DW rogue), but then I tried to melee her just for laughs and to my surprise I made it without reload. I had 100+ Physical resistance at the time (dunno if it matters) and used Rock salves (with Warden commander armor 43 armor) during the whole fight while making sure I was at almost full health before she grabbed me so that required some guess work with timing.

I could make a vid and have SS somewhere to prove it but .. I am too lazy and who cares? I mean anyone can try it for themselves and get lucky too

I don't doubt you. It is very possible, I'd say... only that, for me, she always seems to have a deadly grab/bite... sometimes she gets hungry and bites two at once... ( as you can see here) hehe ... it's also in the vid I made fot that battle. (She didn't actually grabbed them both at the same time but it sure looks like it! =)
