I'm thinking back to the car chase scene, the Salarian ambassador and Thessia fight, and trying to imagine how different the tone would be if he didn't try to sell the 'I'm a provacative badass' and instead just did what he was supposed to, cold and quick.
Now that I think about it, almost exactly like Dr. Eva. Her 'Orders?' moment trumps anything of Leng's.

Deadly, professional and mostly silent. That includes the 'badass' smirk, which is a really loud way of declaring that you're overcompensating.

So, you're saying he's silent but deadly?

In an ideal world, sir. Now, he's just sort of loud and sloppy <_<20x6 wrote...

Okay i admit i knew nothing about Kai Lang accept that he was from a mass effect novel. I see alot of people pissed on how he was portrayed as a cyborg ninja rather than a assassin. So i was wondering how did u guys imagine Kai Lang to be? Maybe something similar to agent 47? lol
I just didn't think the game used him well. He was cool in the novel but they did not have the game show him as intelligent as he was. He wasn't *just* an assassin loyal to TIM. I didn't mind how he looked visually in the game because I can see him being convinced to accept a whole bunch of "ehancements" Maybe it wasn't enough dialogue, but the character was too rich to just plop in as a side villain with no previous foreshadowing in the earlier games. They didn't need him in the 3rd game and I didn't mind him being there but if they were that excited to put him in, they should have done a lot more prep. But that can be said about most of the game's issues.

He would be Shepard's Bane.

Really badly written and needing an M1 tank's worth of plot armour to not die after his first encounter with Shep. After Thane pimp slapped him to the ground that should have been it, just have everyone unload their clips into him and no more pretentious wanker assassin.
When plot armour is needed to keep an antagonist alive after teh first encounter it's time to fire your writers.

And cereal killer was entirely unrealistic in novels - murdering turian platoon in a battle armour with a knife? Give me a break.

Also don't bring Nightwing into this, Dick is a well developed character. Raiden not so much, he deserves everything he gets(revengeance).

When Shepherd guts him, it shouldn't just be about Thane or Kirrahe, it should be because Kai Leng has been a massive dangerous thorn in Shepherds side since the Reaper Invasion started.

If you actually read the book, it was three turians he snuck up on whom were in a firefight with TIM and two bodyguards. They were wearing bulky armor and had assault rifles which gave Kai Leng an agility advantage. One was tapped by TIM himself.murdering turian platoon in a battle armour with a knife? Give me a break.

I"M CHARGING MY SHIELDS!!
and that annoying gunship you can't shot down like the 3 other ones in the previous game make him yeck.
Yeah, that was total BS. I went with hardened adrenaline rush, lobed a grenade, and unloaded a full clip of armor piercing AS rifle ammo into him. 3 times! He never took more than two steps before he spouted that idiotic line.
Sorry, but no amount of biotic shielding should save you.
The whole character was absurd. He was like Kato's little brother. The one that turned bad because mommy and daddy heaped all their affection on the successful older bro.

A) Make him an opponent that is equal or better than Shepard in terms of combat skill, have him actually kick Shepard's ass on Thessia in a fistfight instead of having the gunship do it. He can still have the same attitude he has now, but unlike before the attitude feels justified since he is an actual credible threat (unlike now where he practicly gets his ass kicked constantly).
C) Both above.

Despite how big of a knife you bring to a gun fight its still a knife!
