Kind of like it's funny how ME3 gets slammed for its nonsensical ending, while Call of Duty games are entirely nonsensical?Blacklash93 wrote...
I find it funny how ME3 gets slammed for autodialogue yet TW2 does it almost as much (so far) and gets a free pass on it.
Two different games. Mass Effect 1 had virtually no auto-dialog...actually, you might cut out the "virtually" of that sentence. Mass Effect 2 had a lot more, but you were still MOSTLY in control of your Shepard...and the key part of that is YOUR Shepard. In ME3, he ceased to be MY shepard, and became BioWares Shepard.
Witcher was never about him being YOUR Geralt. He was a character in his own right...which you could influence his decisions, but not his personality. It gets a "free pass", because there was no precidence set for control over his character.

I don't like DA2's combat and saying TW2's is "much better" isn't saying much. I'm not too far into it right now so I may not have the full grasp of the combat yet, but so far I've been able to easily hack my way through everything on Normal difficulty. I also find the controls a bit unresponsive and the spells are pretty weaksauce in their current state. Maybe some of that'll change as I get further in.horacethegrey wrote...
It's much better than DA2's hacking at endless waves of enemies repeatedly. Combat in The Witcher 2 requires some quick thinking and strategy. Human opponents will win if you let them surround you, and fighting monsters requires reading up on them and learning what weaknesses they have and how best to exploit them.

A bad ending is a bad ending. CoD games use story as an excuse to blow stuff up so no one cares. Different values. Yet it would appear Bioware and CDPR had the same values in mind with these series. I can link to many interviews mentioning this if you like. Bioware was just making adjustments as it went along. Perhaps CDPR did as well, but I haven't played or even seen a video of the original Witcher.DukeOfNukes wrote...

Shepard isn't supposed to be your character according to Bioware. Shepard is strictly within the confines of what Bioware sees as appropriate for the character. The ME games had been gravitating toward that claim more and more with each of the two sequels via less dialogue options and more frequent, predetermined reactions by Shepard.
Shepard and Geralt can have their values, views, and alignments determined by the player within predetermined confines. They're the same. They're not my preferred type of PC, but there it is.

I recommend you stick with it. Once you level up Geralt and learn more of the enemies patterns, combat much easier and more managable.Blacklash93 wrote...

Complains that the game is too easy. Is playing on Normal.Blacklash93 wrote...

Lol. Play on Insane like real men do and see how easy of a time you have.

I'm still able to RP Geralt's motivation and opinion on things far better I could with "my" Shepard who's stuck being generic space hero #184393(especially in the sequels).

Dragon age 2 on the other hand is a mixed bag. the things it did right are really good but the things it did wrong are unforgivable.

Any game gets difficult on the highest difficulty that forces you to adopt more intelligent strategies. Even the most mindless of shooters. A game with well balanced difficulties will provide challenge on any difficulty Normal or above to newcomers. Especially given a learning curve.wiggles89 wrote...

And like I said it's the beginning of the game. I said it could change or did you ignore that?

Will do. If nothing else I'll stick with it to see if the story goes anywhere interesting. Not too keen on the sole focus on politics and traditional war so far (and that will continue, as I hear) as I like fantasy settings to tell stories with prominent fantasy elements. I liked DA:O because you had your mythical and magical elements taking the stage in some plots as well as the political struggles in others. Sometimes they even mixed. It was a good balance.
Kind of wish I got this on PC, though. The mechanics of the game and animations seem better suited to a mouse and keyboard. But I have console-gamer
