A question about the in-verse N7 marines

I ask this question from a Lore point of view, not gameplay. Do you think that N7 officers in general are allowed to customise their armor with different colours and various additions? Is there some kind of regulation that prevents them from doing so?

Well, in ME1 it seemed like the Alliance didn't have a "uniform" armour. Ashley was wearing Phoenix, after all.

I thought N7 was an elite paramilitary outfit.  If it's analogous to US special ops, it's not uncommon for them to wear atypical clothing and carrying nonstandard weapons.  Delta Force is technically part of the Army, but if you passed one on the street you'd never even suspect they were part of the military.

Yes, Vega has more Shock trooper heavy armor, while a infiltrator Shepard might have lighter armor more bent towards stealth.
