1500% stability.
There is not bounce at all between shots.

People like it better than BW because they can shoot it faster without having to wait for recoil.

Quicker reload time, faster shots, and lighter so better cooldown.

I wouldn't say it's better - they're different versions of essentially the same thing. The Black Widow is heavier but deals more damage. The Valiant is lighter and deals less. Whether it's 'better' just depends on whether you're a caster or not, or whether you have stability.

It has a higher RoF
Far less recoil
Faster reload

Than a black widow. Hence it is better?

It fires fast, reloads fast, has virtually zero recoil, and benefits from all the ridiculous damage bonuses of TC. That's what makes it good.

Also a negligible reload rate. And it's not terribly heavy.

I just like the feel of it. The same reason i chose Avenger over Phaeston, the feel of the weapon.

Pretty much. Trained, more parsed shots will fare better w/ the BW, prob, but the Valiant's quick relaod, decent fire rate, and low kick make it quite user-friendly.

Its like comparing a GPS to a Graal- the former is much easier to use effectively, but its top end potential is lower than the latter if put in the right hands (though in this case, for a diff reason- GPS doesn't get headshots).

I have both a Valiant I and Black Widow I

I prefer the Valiant I because:
1.) It shoots off those 3 shots faster (easily within tactical cloak span)
2.) It reloads faster
3.) It has twice the ammo
4.) It has less recoil for easier adjustments on shot 2 and 3
5.) It weighs significantly less so I can spam energy drain or proximity mines
Plus with Extended Barrel and AP mod (both at 5) it only deals slightly less damage than the BW

the shield gate makes the BW overpowered against many enemies while at the same time the BW is much heavier than the valiant, and has a much longer reload. some of my experience may be outdated however (have not played in 1.5 months) goddam black hole.

I have my fingers crossed for one or two Valiant upgrades this week. I don't perk my characters for maximum sniper efficiency but I do like the way the enemies die when I hit them correctly...

Just speaking personally (I only have Valiant I and Black Widow II) I appreciate how much lighter Valiant is than BW, and how lightning fast the reload time is. I almost feel like I have the Phantom palm gun because I do huge damage with pinpoint accuracy and a lightning quick ROF.

Another reason why I like the valiant better is psychological...

During actual play there isn't always enough targets for sustained dps to matter. Sometimes you just need one shot ... Times like this the BW makes me hesitate because I don't want to be caught in the reload cycle when something else important happens. With the valiant I simply shoot at anything and everything.

"oh but the widow/black widow reload times perfectly with tactical cloak cooldown"
So what ... I dont wait for tactical cloak to fire my valiant. If there are targets I just keep firing, tac cloak ready now .. Ok reload tac cloak fire. There's just no waiting around with the valiant.

"it does less damage per shot"
So, also means each miss hurts my damage output less. And as stated my multiple people the valiant simply allows you to put out more shots than the BW.
If this were boxing ... The valiant is the light/middle weight that can throw flurries all round. Sure his punches hurt less per punch but it's the sum that matters.

Faster firing speed means that it can land more headshot. Combine that with a tactical cloack, energy drain/hunter mode and you'll see why people love it. I wish i could trade my eagle for it. D:

Stability, RoF, lower DMG, but it's still good enough, twice as much spare ammo when both at I. Seriously, my BW II with Spare Ammo V had as much spare ammo as when my Valiant was at II.

weight doesnt matter for any infiltrator.

I'm just putting this out there, but the whole "faster reload" is kind of debunk by that if you reload cancel they are pretty much the same time.

If you don't have a valiant yet, try a viper X on bronze. Valiant will look approx the same on gold.

It does if you rely on your Tactical Cloak and your recharge speed is in the negative. I don't think you'd play as an Infiltrator while carrying the Claymore and Javelin for that -200% recharge speed, would you?

Weight isn't as big a deal for Infiltrators as much as it is for the caster classes, but it still matters.

As with the reasons people have posted, this is the only gun that has made it fun to be a sniper for me (I tend to not have the patience for it). The Valiant is definitely a fun rifle to use with an infiltrator.

I've heard that said many times but I don't subscribe to that line of thinking. I enjoy using energy drain/proximity mines.

But if you cloak immediately before using either of those powers, the recharge speed is always 3 seconds regardless of what weapons you're carrying.

this.  i prefer BW on my infiltrators, but valiant on casters, like SI.  it is almost as light as the mantis and behaves almost as well as the BW
