So, this is a bit crass, perhaps, but...

All the male characters in ME3 have extremely flat butts.  It's like they went out of their way to make them all buttless.

All except for Hackett, who gets the full Miranda/Allers treatment in the scene where he gives the speech before Priority: Earth.

Am I the only one to've noticed this?  I remember literally complaining about this out loud during that scene (my boyfriend was playing) only to have the camera read my mind and Miranda-treatment Hackett's behind. ^^~

Does he have a unique body model or something?  Is it just the uniform?

I prefer to listen to the speech rather than look at the butt of the 60 year old man standing in front of me.

It's like the Miranda/Allers scenes, though -- the butt-looking is not optional.

Also, this is before the speech proper. It's while Hackett is walking forward to shake Shepard's hand or something IIRC.

Han'Garrel (comms:) "I've sat in this chair for twenty-five years but, my ass is better than any Geth's ass on any day!"
Geth Prime (comms:) "Creator Han'Garrel: The Geth will take that challenge."
Traynor: "Sorry Commander and, um... I rather like your armor..."
Hackett: *face palm* "God-dammit."

Only 60? 60 should be considered middle age for humans in a galaxy where the normal living age for human is 150.

Lol, it's probably his uniforms. But be sure that next  time I'll play ME3 I'm going to check and see if it's true.

Really, I admire people that always able to notice the most small or irrelevent things. Is it a gift or ADHD?

Bioware aren't exactly subtle with their camera angles. It had several seconds of screen time.

I noticed. I laughed. Hackett is a silver fox - of course he was due a lingering butt shot. Maybe it's an apology to straight female players for scrapping Jacob and Thane's romances.

A more boring explanation would that the body model with that particular uniform was made with more... war assets than other uniforms, and that Hackett was one of the few male characters to wear it, without getting a separate body model. The butt shot might have been accidental if the focus was meant for something in the background.

Man, I miss Jacob's surprise buttshots. There weren't many, but they were GLORIOUS.

Okay I checked it (yeah I'm bored).

It's the uniforms. Put the same uniforms on ManShep and he's got the same butt.

So Hackett didn't get a special body model, and I don't think people at BioWare will purposly buttshot old guys that don't have special mody model.



Expect Kaidan. But he isn't old. And he is a LI. And he's good looking. And it happened once as a joke.

They may have. Hackett, Miranda and Shepard are pretty much the only characters with ass-cam.

Does Kaidan have ass-cam, too?

Shepard got buttshots? 


And yes, Kaidan got one on the Citadel. Though it's happening only if you romance him. And it's kind of a joke, really.

Indeed, though I think it has to be a Fem!Shep romancing Traynor for that to happen. There might be other buttshots I'm not aware of, though.

Well, I just went back to test. In the beginning of ME1, it's more like lower back/chest shots with the character's movement pushing buns into frame just after Shep passes Prestley. I usually play as a female and I remember thinking when I first saw that: "Hmm. Tight as a drum!"
