I generally play on Normal or Casual and only seem to be able to get my Hawke to about level 20 when playing the base game. But I've seen others who have got theirs to about 30...? I normally play almost every quest I can find so not sure why I'm so far off other leveled Hawkes?
Do you get more XP for playing on harder levels?

Did your create the Elixir of Heroism potion which gives the partyr a one time level increase? Did you play the downloadable dlc (Legacy, Exiled Prince and Mark of the Assassin)?

typically i can get up to 24-25 on the base game alone if i remember, doing everything possible. and to over 30 with DLC.

You get the same amount of XP regardless of difficulty.
