In the red endings , why doesn't Shep use his/her gun and shoot those tubes from a good ways away? I mean s/he runs into the explosion. Was there ever a stated reason for this..Besides Artiest Integrity:wizard:( since someone will always post that)

The encounter with the Catalyst fried Shepard's brain cells.

Maybe his synthetic implants were attracted to it?

Surely we all know the answer to this by now.

Art.

Because the hallmark of a true legend is not how cool you look while walking away from an explosion but how cool you look while walking towards one.

That, and they had already used used the sequence with Anderson and so they re-cycled it for Shepard to cut down costs

That would be hilarious wouldn't it. He just stands there, shoots it, job done. Catalyst looks at him with a poopy face and disappears. Shepard grins and says 'Haha, dick.'

End credits.

He obviously didn't expect to live through it, so he would rather get engulfed in flames rather than be sucked out into space like last time.

Citadel  explodes. Shepard dies anyway.

Oh, wait! No he doesn't!

Shepard wakes up in concrete.

So I guess the destroy wave turned the citadel into a huge concrete space station...

Maybe Shepard wanted to sacrifice him/herself. They are obviously badly injured, and they will have achieved their ultimate goal.

That, and drama.

Ooh wait, no, that music starts, and Shepard hears it and starts dancing to it while the credits roll over him doing it. That would still be better.

I love the thought of the end of mass effect being Shepard's infamous dancing.

She does, it’s just a trick of the perspective. She’s actually about 30 meters away.

Problem is if they make him dance too well the IT-ers will call it all a dream sequence.

That is... brilliant!
That guy needs to make a similar video of that one scene where Shepard asks his crew whether anybody knows where Cerberus is hiding out.

Prolly for more emotional impact, even though by that point a good chunk of the players were already torn out of the narrative enough for it not to matter. Doesn't matter if he shot 'em from a hundred yards away tho' cuz he is part synthetic and was told he'd die anyway. Only according to the breathe scene, he didn't so the "kid" lied and the ending just falls flat on itself because BioWare just couldn't commit.

I have to say, even if he shot them from a distance, he still would have been engulfed in the Citadel Explosion.

Definitely beats the Adam & Eve epilogue.
Or whatever it was that Bioware was going for. I don't even know.

Because BW's canon Shep is dumb.

And Shepard apparently forgot the cool guys don't look at explosions memo. YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY SHEP!
