Let's start by making all classes and characters have the same health/shields and the same damage output/effect regardless of power. That's step one.

Now let's make all weaponds have the same damage output, range, fire rate, and all that as well regardless of weapon class.

Now for the enemies. All enemies have the same health/shields and damage output as the players. There will only be 4 enemies per round, well, maybe 8 since we have brains and they don't. On waves 4, 7, 9 they have to complete objectives.

Now for the final piece of the balance puzzle. All characters are only allowed to kill their fair share of the enemies. Given 8 enemies per round, eahc person is allowed to kill 2 enemies and no further damage can be dealt by that player. This way point distibution is "balanced". This is probably the most important part.

EDIT: Oh yes, I forgot to add, at the end all players will be tied for first place. Because we all know what can happen when only one person comes in first.

What say you, balanced?

Haha ... posted a very similar concept at basically the same time you did ...
nicely done ...

repost of my post
They need a system to balance the player.

People who are good at video games are OP!!!

It won't matter if you make their guns heavier and weaker, their powers slower, or their characters softer.
Good players will still be good and they will still top the score boards.

My proposed system would use multiple measures of telemetry readings (I have no idea what I'm talking about ... but you know those stats that computers compute and stuff)

Basically if you're a good player the system will know ... and it will nerf you.
If you're a bad player the system will know ... and it will buff you.

If its possible to score around 400K points in a R/R/G ... then each player no matter their class, weapons, etc should all score about 100k so that its balanced.

Everyone should also get a participation medal because everyone is a winner and you are all special

The serious part of this post is this ... good players will always be good players and they will find ways to win ... which will unfortunately lead to others who cannot keep up to call for nerfs and buffs.

The Wraith would clearly be overpowered because it looks so much more awesome than any other weapon.

Nerf the Wraith's appearance!

Ahh, good point. Customization is no longer an option and all weapons now look exactly the same.

Awww, did I hit a nerve? But you'll never be outscored again, isn't that a good thing?

Yes - you hit my "I'm really, really bored with willful misinterpretation of the idea of balance " nerve (at least I hope it's willful misinterpretation rather than abject stupidity), well done, have a cookie.

Yes "balance". What could be more balanced than what I proposed?

If the Krysea continues to get nerfed it will become the new Falcon. Then everyone will just use the BW again. Yay, balance. :P

They need to add in somewhere to put in my address on the game so that they can mail me a participation trophy.  I might have finished in last place, but my mom tells me I am still special.  I'm the best.

I had one, but I seem to have lost it with trying to explain what balance means in the terms of a game, somewhere over the past 10 years... have you any idea the number of times I've seen this exact argument - it's as old as COBOL and nowhere near as funny.

Nothing, by definition, as you've made everything identical - this is not what balance is about in games, it's about having a variety of options, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses which are better, or worse, in different situations, it's about having classes and .... oh, sod it, I really can't be bothered - you win.

The balance king has arrived. Only he knows what's best for all games. Quick, everyone bow.

Don't forget the store. We should all have access to the same packs and get the same items. That way, no one person will get an Ultra-Rare (of equal damage of the common weapons) while others mope and start threads about nerfing the lucky person's OP four leaf clover.
