Or, an alternative, get better.

I'm trying. Where's the compassion and kindness in this community? Not everyone can be super amazing at MP, ya know. :crying: I have gotten to the point of topping the scoreboard on most of my silver matches, so that's an improvement over bottom score on bronze. I don't want it to be stressfully difficult to play, just pleasantly challenging. Today, it certainly wasn't enjoyable.

Please ignore people who make smart ass comments like this.  Keep trying to improve your game like you apparently have and you will be Gold in no time.  We have been talking for weeks about how the recent buffs to the Geth are making the game just not enjoyable anymore.  I stopped playing Geth altogether as the changes are just ridiculous compared to the other enemies.

Good luck and keep playing.

:D Thank you very much for the encouragement.  I guess I will just have to host more frequently and set the lobby to Reapers or Cerberus, which is a shame, because I prefer the random nature of unknown map, unknown enemy.

The funny thing is that the Geth are no harder if you're farming on FBW on Gold than they were before the changes, so what's the point?

It most definitely said Silver, I checked over and over because I couldn't believe the spawns. You can mod the difficulty of public games on the xbox?

What likely happened was that the game glitched. It's done that to me before on bronze/silver. It acted as if it was on Gold with the number of enemies. Seven pyros at a time on silver. I'd made the match myself, and my friend noticed the ridiculous spawns too. At the time we weren't ready for Gold-like difficulty, and got annihilated.

Next match was perfectly fine, and all matches after it didn't have that issue. And I never changed the settings.

Sorry if this is late/a little off-topic, I honestly didn't read the entire thread.

Maybe it is glitches, but if so, it's been doing it consistently all evening in the matches I've been in. If it's going to get buggy and do gold difficulty, then it should give gold-level credits to match.

Um, yeah. I like to play MP. A LOT. Hence, my obsessive unlocks on the manifest.

Also, to answer a previous poster, I'm aiming challenged, so the god-like Infiltrator class will never work properly for me, and with AA, even with a 200% recharge, someone invariably kills my painted targets before I can get a BE. <_< Not that I really care who kills what, since I am a strong believer that it's a team effort, but I hate to be less than useful to whatever squad I am playing with.

My favorite gun is actually the Indra, if that tells you anything.

I found that playing on a PC really helps with aiming issues. I play ME3 on my PS3, but I enjoy Left 4 Dead 2 much more on my PC than on my friend's Xbox. If you like to spend money on games, it might be worth investing in a nice gaming computer. I would recommend it, but it's completely up to you.

As for helping the problem now, how do you feel about grenades? I play my krogan soldier on silver and all I do is grenade > carnage, and I do very well most of the time. It's easy, and your aim doesn't have to be perfect.

It may also help you to get better by watching some videos. It can give you a new perspective on how to play your class. You should also try doing some solo matches to experiment with different weapons/builds and increase your awareness.

As someone who has never really enjoyed MP gaming very much (I've played some Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield) but absolutely adores ME3 MP, I beg you, please, PLEASE, stop changing stuff that keeps making the game harder. I don't have anything to prove or vast amounts of testosterone that urge me to conquer everything, I just want to play the damn game and have fun. That isn't an unreasonable request, is it?

I've played tons of Bronze games and finally found a perfect class that I could do very well with on Silver difficulty. Today, the changes you made caused my Geth Engineer, Legacy, to die. Again and again and again on wave 10 of Silver. Any enemy looks at him wrong and he dies! :crying: Why does wave 10 on silver suddenly look like Geth on Gold with the number of enemy spawns??

By all means, add a Platinum difficulty if that's what top-tier players want, but for the love of all that is holy, just leave us crappy players enough tools to get by comfortably on Silver.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Yeah, the only gold matches I can handle are FBW/G/G. Otherwise its silver and bronze. It's very frustrating now with gold farming because they uber'd the geth. Because farming is so drastically harmful to everyone else's gameplay! (not.)

I don't think BW is gonna be terribly responsive, but I feel your pain. These days, I find the Geth so unpleasant on Silver that the only time I will play against them is...on Gold. You don't like camping, but with the right strategy and the right team, you can shut the Geth down with minimal difficulties.

Part of the problem is that they have buffed the Geth in the past...but part of the problem is that Silver Randoms rarely enact the same strategies that can get a team through Gold against the Geth. And hell, sometimes, even Gold players just get cocky on Silver. Combined, both of these factors lend the impression that Silver can sometimes be harder than Gold.

I've been in Gold matches where my team and I routinely handed the geth their asses. Only to turn around, play a Silver match against the Geth and get whupped.

I suggest trying a solid, stable team to run through Silver matches on as regular a basis as you all can manage. Set up a strategy and stick to it. Or, if you can't put together a regular team, make sure you communicate with your random players. If someone in the Lobby isn't mic'd, find another lobby, maybe.

It seems like, prior to today's experience, you were fairly confident and capable with your character. But this is a game that focuses heavily on team work, after all. Your own skill may be considerable, but at some point you're gonna need to depend on the other team members too.

You mentioned in another post that you'd tried some other characters like the AA but had limited success with them. Like other players killing targets you have set up for BEs. Your mindset regarding these instances is...far more forgiving than mine would be...But consider this. The goal, especially on Silver and Gold, is to kill as many of the things as quickly as possible. BEs and other types of power combos (tech bursts, fire explosions and what-not) do that faster and better than any weapon or power in the game, short of the missile launcher.

So...if players are routinely doing this, they are impeding your ability to kill all the things. And more to the point, they are impeding the entire team's ability to do this.

While sh*t like that just occasionally happens by accident, when it occurs with the sort of regularity you're seeing, it is an indication that you are running with trash players. And once again, I suggest you find a better breed of team mate. Communicate with them if you're not already doing so to let people know your plans for that guy who's glowing blue. They may be willing to cooperate. Or, they might not have a clue about Biotic Explosions and power combos in the first place.

The Geth engineer is pretty bad-ass against the Geth. The character has some really powerful tools like Chain Overload and Hunter Mode that can shut down enemy advantages or at least provide a slightly more level playing field. And since you've played enough to unlock so many weapons and characters that are rare and ultra-rare, you've got all the experience you need to be a great player...on Silver, or perhaps on Gold if you're ever willing to try it out.

But I think what you really need is a good team.

Sadly, a nice PC for gaming won't be in the budget anytime soon.

As to grenades, I like them very much, but I run into the frustration of having so few, and having to run around the map like a crazy person to find a box that hasn't already been emptied by other players. I really wish they made grenades refill automatically between waves, especially since it counts as a power slot. For those reasons, grenade-using characters tend to frustrate me, when I would otherwise enjoy them. I do play all the classes, but I only really do well with 1 or 2 of them.

Yeah, that's the drawback. I'm terrible at aiming on gaming consoles so I try to stick to grenade classes, but it can be frustrating when even just one other person is taking from your supply. You can use ammo refills to restock your grenades as well, so that helps. I usually forget about that, honestly.

If you can get into a match where no one else is using grenades, it's much more enjoyable. =]

Thank you for so many great suggestions, I really appreciate it. :) I guess you're right about my main problem: I mostly play with randoms, because despite having a full friends list on XBL, not many of my friends actually play ME3's MP. I think I probably need to cull my list, and add some of the people from the forums that still play and love this game.

I would actually love to reach a level of skill where I could manage non-farming Gold runs, but I dunno if that will ever happen. =]

Yeah, that's another point I wanted to make but completely forgot. Your problem could be that it's not that you're bad, per se, but you have teammates that are actually dragging you down. I had a game a few hours ago where no one was using medigel. It ended up with me kiting a prime around as an Asari Vanguard for who knows how long. There was another incident where the infiltrators decided to kill all the weak little husks running toward us (which I could easily stop) instead of killing the ravager waaay off in the corner that was killing everyone (and I couldn't reach). Playing smart saves lives, but randoms don't like to play smart.

I saw some people offering to add you to their friend list, so hopefully you can get some good games going. I'd add you but I'm on PS3.

However it did make the enhanced vision worthless unless you spec specifically for it, and even then it's not as good.

You're not any squishier per se, but if OP relied on the enhanced vision to mitigate damage then that would definitely explain it.

What are your thoughts on the Turian Sentinel? I have a wonky internet at times and he's the only character other than infiltrators that I trust completely on gold. If you use a respec card to get that point back from tech armor, you can have piercing warp, chain overload, the weapon stability bonus, and max health. He can't distract enemies but he is a tank, so there is that.

And there are never exceptions to the rule, nor are there any bugs in this game that might affect difficulty, right? Despite several other posters in this thread saying they experienced something similar?

Looks like some elites came out to play.

Can you picture the smug look on their faces as they type "get better"? Don't worry, these same people smugly telling you to only play bronze, you suck, noob, etc are the ones who complain about everything. It's in their nature to complain about anything troubling them but insult others when they do the same.

Add me on xbox, tag is the same as my forum name. I'll play with you and holy crap, ill actually help you get better instead of being a tough guy on the internet!

And even with a really good team, communication is still key. Earlier tonight, my team had some...difficulties. There's one guy who is the best player in the group. He's picked up some guys he's friended in random Gold matches, and he brought one of these guys into the game tonight.

Well, the two of them had the idea to both run Infiltrators, with the intent of "carrying" me and the other guy.

And y'know...I thought about a thread I saw here where someone said, "if you step into a Gold lobby with more than one Infiltrator, step the f*ck back out."

I thought about that, and should'a said something. But I didn't. I saw that one of the Infiltrators was rocking the Krysae, and since I use the Krysae to heavily support to the team when I Infiltrate, I figured the same would happen. It did not.

The other player and I drew down all the aggro. Which I expected. And we got chewed into hamburger. The two Infils were johnny-on-the-spot with Revives, but it's my opinion it never should have gotten to that point.

By the time either of them put the Krysae to use, we had already been overrun by Marauders, and Ravagers had already set up crossfires and long range flanking positions.

I should have said something...But when the new guy was complaining about being seen while Cloaked after the rest of us were down, I sorta figured I'd have to explain how and why aggro works in this particular game. And I was a little too hot to do so in a polite manner.

When I use the Krysae on an Infiltrator, I try like hell to make sure this sh*t doesn't happen. I hit groups before they overwhelm other players...or try my best to do so. And I just assumed they'd be doing the same.

I failed to communicate. Maybe I'd gotten so comfortable working with them that I didn't feel the need to. But I should have.

Not that I'm am pro either, but how did you play your Geth Engineer? Spam overload?

Yes, that and piercing mod on my Indra V and turret specced for damage. It made me feel like a queen of killing.

Another Indra fan reporting in! [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wizard.png[/smilie] That rifle is beast!! *Looks at your manifest* Oh I am jelly mine is only lvl 1 :o

I don't have much to contribute here but just want to tell you to have
fun :) I'm sure you are better than you think OP! I agree with playing with the people on BSN, thats how I learn to get better too! Also, I think a good team synergy is important. From my experience in Gold matches, know where the enemy will spawn, take cover if you are a squishy class and never stay in one place for too long!

Keep playing and you'll do well!
