What's the point of crossbows?

Of course it is. If you look in toolset you'll see that crossbow already have Dexterty set as their damage modifier. The bug is that thier "attribute modifier" is set to 0, which leads their dexterity bonus always being multiplied by 0, leading to no extra damage at all.

The main purpose I see is for a warrior to have some way of pulling (excluding body pulling).



I guess you could use a lvl 1 bow... and if you're right about the fact that the lvl 1 bow does more dmg than a lvl 7 crossbow, then there really is no purpose to crossbows. :P I suppose after the dex bug is fixed crossbows might again be useful for warrior pulling and that's it.

this is a shame really.

Not only do xbows look better, but more viable tactical options would've made this game better.

because 2-handed weapon users needed to also be inefficient at range.

Yes you're right. I wonder why they couldn't fix it right away though. This is essentially a typo fix and I don't see any extensive testing needed. Could just piggyback it onto any of the patches. Perhaps due to gameplay balance concerns?

Anyways for those who hate crossbows as it is and just wan't the modifier without any other mods I've made the simple modifications:

I think that the shortbows are the best choise for a warior cuz they don't require lot dexterity and are the fastest ranged weapons in the game.Anyway you don't need ranged weapons on wariors except when fighting archdemon
