Honestly, people, if in real life you got to chose how you'd look would you be ME hot, or Jabba the Hut? (And no that doesn't come with his power, wealth, and harem.)

OP, who's your ME LI? Why?

When I paly mmos, I never create or pick  the most pretty characters, I do not like the idea that I am a super good looking person, I like in games that I feel "real" like Niko Bellic for instance, an anti-hero that looks almost below average, I like that feel of "realism", and I rather look ugly, than a top model in high heels saving the galaxy.

In ME I awlays chose the default Shepard, I do not see the point of customising yourself in a offline game if nobody is going to see it, feels like a waste of time (I am look at you Skyrim :P).

I played ME countless times, and tried almsot every single gender combination (F/M M/F M/M F/F) and species because I wanted to experience the whole of it (Although the only person I could not stand to have a LI was Miranda).

The one that I took the most at heart was Tali (ME2) Cortez (ME3).

Dont know who those other game characters are, but I too go for a more authentic looking character, and I could do without the overt sexiness.  But it also doesn't bother me that everyone is super hot/sexy or offend my sensibilities.  We're just talking human nature.  People like good looking people.  Doesn't mean we'll enter a long term relationship with them, since personality, values, and compatibility of spirit are all of equal importance.  Hot might get you looking, but substance is what keeps a person interested.

I found almost all of the tertiary characters in the series to be remarkably plain-looking. It's only the leads (and then, only the human leads) that were extra-attractive.

But look at Hollywood as a comparison. How many 1st Billing stars are there who are only moderate-to-average in their looks?

Robert Deniro
Al Pacino
Morgan Feeman
Joe Pesci
Woody Allen
Dan AykroydBill MurrayHarold RamisRick Moranis
Could go on all day :D

But they play complety diffent roles to one similar to the roles in ME.

No, we're talking about a version of star trek's green space babes. Because that's what the Asari are, according to the guy who created the Asari.

What you've been doing in this thread is nothing but a posteriori handwaving and rationalizations to excuse design decisions that have nothing to do with such excuses.

It does seem to have gotten worse as the series went on.

ME1 the armour hide body features. Characters were good looking, but not dolled up.
ME2 the armour started to show some body features. We got Jack and Miranda showing a bit too much.
ME3 the armour is strongly showing body features. Men look massively buff, women have curves. Ash put down her hair and dolled up. Kaiden must have started taking roids.

Oh course the other end of the spectrum is The Witcher 2. The protagonist is ugly as sin, most men are pretty ugly and usually fat. Most women look normal, with women who are mages being the only truly attractive people (since they use magic to alter their bodies in the lore).

Your using WItcher 2  and it's ovr sexualied prositutes as an example?

You want a reason? Try this one: No person serving in a military organziation is ever allowed to wear custom clothes while beeing on duty, especially not some skimpy dress that makes you look like a cheap space escort...

2.It's in Jacks and Miranda's persona to wear what they are wearing.

Jack? Maybe... But Miranda, seriously? Since exactly when prefer insecure, angst-ridden people dressing in skintight catsuits?

Poor Liara having a mum that dresses like that. :pinched:

She'll be embarassed when Shepard, Kaidan and Ashley come back from Noveria and tell her her mum was flashing her cleavage everywhere when they met her... And i'm putting it nicely. :P

Oh, please. It's a role playing game, we take the universe as it is and react to it. If we stop and question every design of every character, we lose that aspect of roleplaying. Reguardless, to how the asari were design and why, in the end based on the lore they are still
an alien race with a complete different consept of sexual behavior and ideals.
If you want to talk about how they made them too sexy, bring the males into the conversation as well which you have been avoiding.

Why is it immature to be attracted to someone physically? Isn't that pretty natural for a human being, and things like getting to know them usually come later?

I was very attracted to Miranda in ME2, and romanced her on my 2nd playthrough. I don't regret it because I ended up liking her character a lot, and thought she was great in ME3.

1. Give me a reason why Ashley is not a type to wear skirts? Any reason you would say would in fact be sexisist. Added, She herself still doesn't she does wear shirts.
Also, the outfit she wears by defualt in battle is armor.

2.It's in Jacks and Miranda's persona to wear what they are wearing. This is the team being true to there character. Jack coming out wearing what she is wear should be no serprize. And Mirand got more face time then all the the fomer crew.
Also, with Jack's  tattoo's...It was about repealing people away from her. She not like that any more in ME3.

1. Why? Because that is what I understood from her. She was a pure soldier, she didn't give a damm about her looks. Not that she wasn't attractive even without the sex apeal. It's simply put, not the type. Her attitude, her backround, her armor before, her all outfits. Maybe for you it doesn't feel odd. To me, VERY.

2.I know that it's in their pesronality. With them I talk about BioWare's priorities more. We see too much of Miranda's butt. And I'm not talking about who got more. She still got little time, and in that little time, she got the "100 buttshots" treatment. And I'm not talking about Jack's tattoos. I'm talking about the fact that her body is much more visiable now. If the white strip was actually black, or brown, you would barely notice her body. Don't think that the strip was white by couincedence. Can be that I'm reading too much into it. But it's still annoying.

1.That's cleary is not custom clothes. Also, she's wearing pants under the skirt...and it's skimpy? There is no skin showing. And military women where skirts any way with their unifoms.
2.Since ME2, yes. She dosn't hate her looks. She just hates the fact that she was control to this extent by her father...She make this clear in ME3.

That's not a custom dress? So, where are all the other female officers in the game that wear the same uniform? Please don't hesitate to show me an example.
By the way, it's not that difficult to look cheap without showing any skin...

Where, in Final Fantasy?

This still does in no way explain why she feels the need to dress in that ridiculous catsuit.

Was it that suppsoed to mean?

Are you saiyng soldiers are meant to be prettier?

What about Patrick Stewart in Star Trek?

Ever seen the movie  Avatar and their soldiers? None of them look any where near appealing, all fo the females looks incredibly masculine.

Again, modern companies make games that seems aimed at a more immature audience,  (Look at the Witcher as well if you want another example of how all the girls looks like top models), people is forgetting that real beauty is not in the size of your boobs, cleavage or cameltoe.

ME characters have been exagerated on purpose, the real models are much less toned down, they only used their faces, which means  the wanted to make big boobs and perfect figures on purpose because it sells.

I should blame society, but I am more inclined at companies for not having the balls to try and break this trend.

1. You haven't given me a reason why. She never said she doesn't care about her looks. She hard as nail but that doesn't mean she doesn't care for her looks. And as clean cut she is in ME1, I would say she does care.

2.Again, with in the characters persona. Any back shot of Miranda will have cut to the butt no matter how unglorious. Even her death scene in ME2 has it.
And with Jack, her coming out with what she is wear is in her character being that she is a punk rock who once **** a belt bra...and it replead alot of people way from her.

I think the only wrong Bioware commited with this sort of thing was the blantant oversexualizaiton of Ashley.

I have to admit I found that her newly sculpted breasts and hips made it hard to take her serious.  If she had been that way from the beginning it wouldn't have been a problem (for me.)

It isn't immature at all.

However, I agree that some of the character outfits are ridiculous, a lot of them somehow manage to cheapen the characters. Look at how the OP talks about Miranda, for instance.

I would counter your point with Jack. She is far from super model. Covered in tats and very small breasts. Also a flat bum. Crazy hair do or no hair at all. The orignal Ashley wasnt very sexy either but of course they had to sex her up for 3. I found this rather disapointing. Liara isnt a bad example. With her pudgy little cheeks.
I dont care for the designs on Miranda or Samara. I always used Miranda's alternate "battle armor" skin in ME2. Too bad Samara didnt have this option as well. She is one of my favorite characters in the game.
