typically female (as I like looking at pretty girls) but sometimes male (KOTOR2, Fable 2) and usually varying with multiple playthroughs (dragon age:origins and Mass Effect [but hated man-shep in the first game])

Female. Because I'm a girl. But I don't mind playing games with male main characters. Particularly if they are attractive male characters.

I'll almost always play as a male character. But if I replay the game I'll try the female option to see if there is any difference.

I almost always play female characters. In Origins I had a male dalish and a male noble who followed Morrigan through the looking glass. And in the ME series I had a few male Sheps. Usually if there are romances for characters that are exclusive to male characters then that is why I will make a male character, but most of the time I role female PCs.
