Theres no fighting, don't worry.

I'm certainly not going to be drawn into another pointless battle just because people like throwing insults at me.

Headshots bear some semblance in style to some non-nude works on males. (Interesting that you picked out just the nude women, neither of which are elves.)

I Googled his name with elves at the front and those are the images I found. Therefore I must conclude that the images you are talking of don't even exist or you're using those human female images as the basis of which you are judging the screenshots I posted.

So care to post these pictures supposedly resembling the images I posted? Because I'm not about to go rummaging through the guy's clearly erotic art to find the pictures you're talking about.

In fact when I Google his name and follow it with an "e" I don't even get a Google suggestion for Boris Vallejo elf/elves which implies he's never even drawn a picture of an elf.

Here's one of his male ones:

Still nothing like the images I posted.

I don't mean to sound offensive but I viewed alot of his art on Google this afternoon and found nothing matching the images I posted.

Always loved this portrait. The armor looks fantastic. I've used it many times in both NWN and Baldur's Gate.

If DA3 elves looked something like this, I'd be happy.

Another NWN portrait of an elf with feline features:

Bioware only need look at their past creations for inspiration. Remove the ears from the elf above and it would sitll look distinct from humans and it's certainly more unique than Dragon Age 2 elves which are ripped straight from JRPG MMO's.

Fenris? Is that you???!

DA2 elves aren't unique. Period.

They should've stayed with the elf look from the first game.

If it wasn't broken, why bother fixing it?

What did I miss? I was too busy setting up my new Sony Vaio and it feels strange using a PC again, I have been under the influence of Mac for so long....

Elton John that last pic looks like a woman for some strange reason. Those ridiculous wide ears always looked awful on elves, I don't know why they still use them. I'm sure Lineage 2 used them as well.

Does anybody know if this site is reliable at scanning your PC for gaming requirements?

http://www.systemreq...cyri/intro.aspx

Because I barely meet the reqirements for "The Secret World" or thats what the site says? Yet it says I can play SW TOR on high settings?

Anyway the elves are fine as long as they don't over do the structure of the face. And as long as they are playable thats cool. But be prepared for fan hate...

Same thing applies to the elves. They were just fine as they were, all this I want to be different is killing me...

The DA version of elves were different and original enough to begin with (afaik)..

I agree completely.

Now i'm off to install STO, and then maybe install DA:O demo creator so I can finally change this horrible ID avatar image of mine.

They look like freaks, unless you want avatar elves. Their noses, eyes and ears are terrible looking in DA2! I have nothing against big eyes, but they belong in anime.

Imagine if they made the Dragon Age Redemption film into DA2 elves? Do you think they look beautiful now? Admit it! The DA2 elven designs are an abomination!

    ^ Ok design                                                                        ^ Keep that design away from the elves...

omg I'm so glad I wasn't drinking anything when I saw that, LOL.

Interestingly enough, with Tallis, I've noticed that her nose seems to differ from the norm - I can't find a very good photo (I could go onto youtube and try to get a still shot of someone's playthrough, but I don't have very good internet on my desktop), but Tallis' nose differs a bit from the typical elf in DA2. (This might be because apparently they took Day's face when they made Tallis, but still!)

Image IPB

As I said, not the best shot - but the bridge of her nose is lowered down a little bit.
Honestly, I'd be happy to see both types of noses in Dragon Age 3, giving elves more diversity... afterall, in the City Elf origin, it's explained that arranged marriages happen between two different alienages to exchange new blood - so it wouldn't suprise me too much if this clan/this alienage had some more unique traits to just them then. ;)
Sort of a bad comparison I guess, but like... in China, the Northern populations tend to have more almond-shaped eyes (supposedly, the eye shape helps reduce glare; you can also seem similar eye shapes in parts of Africa, in the desert regions), where in Eastern (I... believe it's Eastern China), fuller eyes are more common apparently.

I admit the ears on DAII elves scare me a bit.... but that's about it. I'm ok with bigger eyes, funny noses and even the anorexic bodies.... uhm, the necks are a nightmare, true.

But yes, I do find (most of) them attractive. Deal with it. It's my personal preference.

@Lord Athena
I don't complain about dwarves because I simply don't play them. Ever. Besides, the females have no beard!!!

Not a fan of Origins and it's elves, they were basically scrawny humans with little to make them stand out. The basis behind Dragon Age 2's elven revamp was good, make the races appear visually distinct is never something I'd talk against. Unfortunately, the revamp wasn't as great as it could've been.

Given more time to work on it, polishing the design and models could create a large deal. Looking at the concept art, it appeared to look something similar (atleast facially) to Skyrim's elves (a design I loved).

I suppose it could just be me, but - does anyone else think the elves' redesign looked a bit like the elves (particularly wood elves/bosmer) from Oblivion? I can't find a very good example of a profile for a bosmer, but the first female preset in Oblivion for it comes to mind.

Is it just me?

I really, really liked the concept art... some of the elves resemble it I suppose, but... Idk, the concept art seems a lot more proportional and "human" I guess?

I liked the elves in DA2, I know they look strange but that's what I like about them. I mean they're supposed to be so different from humans that they inspired fear and terror just because they were so different. The elves in DAO looked human but with pointy ears, I mean with a little surgery no one would know you were an elf. At least the DA2 elves can be identified on sight even if their ears are covered.

One thing I would like to see more of is in DOA it might just have been me but it looked like a lot of the city elves had red or reddish hair, little details like that are always interesting.

The elves in DA2 were so ugly man. I appreciate that Bioware tried to do something different then the normal elf....I guess. But still.......if I had to choose between stereotypical elves in DAO or the "improved" elves in DA2 DAO would win everytime. Basically I don't care what they do to the elves for DA3. I don't care if they use a particular game for motivation or what. I just hope that they do something to improve them.

Here you go:

Image IPB

Sten from the final Silent Grove comic.

I think it's a good design. Bioware are keeping the Origins Kossith design after-all.

I think it would be good if they went along with a previous suggestion of where there's different races of elves (like with humans) and each one look slightly different in terms of their facial structure. That would be one way to have the mutant elves and the more normal looking elves. The elf eyes of DA2 could be implemented onto every elf but the long necks and floopy ears needn't be. That way you won't end up with elves that look like humans.

I could say Sten in that picture above looks human but the facial structure and pointed ears clearly says he isn't human.

So it's fine for dwarves and Kossith to look like humans with differences in terms of body design but it's bad for elves to look like humans?

I actually thought Zevran looked waaay better in DAII.  Image IPB
*dodges hateballs*

Of course, he was honestly the ONLY elf I thought was an improvement, and it was clear that he was one of the ones they put much more effort into.

Y'know what I really don't like, not only in the Elves but in the Engine itself is the amount of sharp angles.

ME & ME3 have this problem as well.

Bioware royally raped the elves in DA 2. Can't understand how anyone could possibly like that horrible design. It's just Bioware trying to be 'edgy' again. Just like the ME 3 endings. Lolfail.
