I agree, he doesn't deserve to be executed by Alistair. Like Howe, he deserves far worse.
You do know that pretty much everyone sells their people to the Imperium. I'd bet that Cailan did too. And I'd trust the strategies of an expierenced general over the foolish king. If the battle was lost, I guess it was lost. Also, if you don't get how great of an antagonist Lohgain is, you're not getting everything out of the game
