Not at low levels it does not. You may be able to take out one wolf, if you are lucky, and then you get swarmed/overwhelmed without some sort of CC.

Okay. I'm going to say it. 1) remember, Bioware is in Edmonton. At least their HQ is. Why is this important?
Ever been to that part of the world? In a trip to Alaska, they have a joke. About your chances against a grizzly, vs. your chances against a pack of wolves. You are much, much more likely to survive the grizzly. Your chances against the wolves? Kiss your **** good bye. That's the story. I ran into some "stuffed" wolves in various places (taxidermy) and they are HUGE. You get a team of them working together, and even a griz hasn't got much chance.
There's plenty of realism in the idea that a pack of wolves is a deadly foe. Not to be underestimated. At level 7 in the game, you're a neophyte. You might be good at the game and beat them. Or you might be overwhelmed like in real life. It's not so hard to fathom in the light of actual reality. Even 2 or 3 hunters with good firearms aren't certain to do well against them. They have a sporting chance. So do you. So focus like the folks here do, and when you build your player, always think offense and defense. If you take only offensive talents and neglect defensive ones, you're going to get wiped sooner rather than later. What good does a whole chain of spells do if you have no mana? People who min max also run into these problem and have to play the game differently to compensate.
About half of what you read is worth remembering. Even this.

Packs of wolves with overwhelm are invincible. I am unable to travel because no group combination at level 8 can defeat a pack of wolves with the skill Overwhelm. This is a serious design flaw that should be addressed soon.
When you wrote this did you think for a second "hey many people have completed the game, maybe it's just me doing it wrong" or that didn't enter?
