Fix for female armor?

I hope this is the right place for me to ask:

I've been looking around, but so far I've been unable to find any mods that attempt to fix the horrible rendering of female light armor. While robes actually conform to the shape of the body, the light armor (even the leather sports bra Dalish elves start with) seems to have ignored it completely.

I find this horrendously annoying, so I'm hoping somebody's made some armor/clothing that doesn't make female rogues/warriors look like they've bot pot-bellies and back-fat. Do such mods exist?

Or would that kind of thing require editing the 3d model, and thus be incredibly difficult, if not impossible?

^-

Although not impossible or necessarily incredibly difficult, it would require editing of the 3d model.

I believe that'd require modifications to the 3d mesh, but as exporters/importers for these slowly start to appear it's not really impossible now but just a matter of time.

Ah, damn. Well, thanks for the replies—at least I know to give it some time before looking.

I'm honestly baffled why they chose to do that in the first place. (I mean, seriously—somebody made the decision to give Dalish elves an exposed midriff. Why do that if that midriff isn't going to be true to the anatomy of the model you yourself have made?) But that's a wholly separate conversation.

Anyway, point: thanks!

Horrendously ugly.

It's one of not so many but yet outstanding examples of what seem to be placeholders from a beta version that ended up in the final game.

This game deserves brutal criticism on a number of significant points that stand out all the more exactly because much of the rest of the game is pretty much brilliant.

Why does it deserve brutal criticism since it is one of the best rpgs ever made? sure, there might be a couple of flops here and there but they are small. I find the female textures to be lacking as well, but that is why the developers released the toolset. Its a huge game and the developers knew it wasn't going to be perfect.
The only thing I can think of as a temporary fix is to edit the model textures. That would be a rather simple task and I am surprised no one has at least tried to fix this.

Arms and Armor will (eventually) get around to remodeling the armor as well.

Although if you're looking for something form-fitting this probably won't be for you, as it's going to take a more realistic approach (and the reality is that you wouldn't be able to tell from the armor if it was a guy or girl in there. Heck, look at Miranda Otto fully kitted out in Return of the King. It's COMPLETELY believable she could be mistaken for a man if you didn't know to watch for it).

Excellent!

Yeah, I've got no problem with the way female characters look in heavy armor, for exactly that reason. It's really just things like the leather armor a Dalish starts with, where it's specifically supposed to be form-fitting and not-at-all-armor-like.

The problem with the armor models is that none of them are accurately modeled to fit the "nude" body shape. The Dalish armor is CERTAINLY form-fitting if your female character had been a B-cup. However the "nude" model is somewhere closer to a D.

In my opinion, the "cup-size" is the least of the models' problems. It's the wide back, broad-shoulders and lack of waistline that are so distractingly ugly. It's perfectly understandable for heavy armor which should be bulky. But, lithe and nimble rogues should be slim and athletic-looking -- not burly and slightly squashed. Honestly, it looks like they just took the male model and put a couple of bulges right in the middle of the torso. The vanilla armor may be form-fitting -- it's just not a female form.

Most armors most likely do use similar, if not the same, textures for male and female; I know that the default versions of the armors in NWN2 did this. Light Armor variation B seems to be the only one that uses a different texture for male and female; this is the armor variation that is the basis of the Dalish Armors that I have seen so far in the game, but it still seems to be done wrongly in some manner.

I'd like to know why people have that as a problem of another race's armor make up.....

there is a reason its a fantasy game, Elves prefer to be able to move, thean to stay in one place

There is a 'curvaceous' armor set for females, that at least decreases the waistline on the light armors.

They still have huge hips, but at least the waistline and breast look better than the default vanilla armors.

I know the armor sets 'are' the models used in game, so I suppose it's just a matter of time before someone corrects them.
